NEW DELHI: The no-handshake saga between India and Pakistan continued in women's cricket as Harmanpreet Kaur and Fatima Sana once again refrained from exchanging the customary gesture during the toss ahead of their Women's Asia Cup 2026 clash in Dubai on Saturday.

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana won the toss and elected to bat first, with the latest India-Pakistan encounter beginning with the now-familiar absence of a handshake between the two captains.

The no-handshake stance has continued across India-Pakistan cricket encounters since last year, with the protocol also observed when the two sides met during the 2026 Women's T20 World Cup in Birmingham.

The focus, however, quickly shifted to the contest itself, with Pakistan looking to post a challenging total after opting to bat.

[How challenging is chasing?] I think while batting it's always about giving ourselves some time and then going for your shots. And I think the first two games we did really well in that department, and hopefully we'll continue. [On leading for the 150th time in T20Is] Great achievement. But the key is to keep enjoying yourself on the field, and that is key; I try to keep up with that. A 53-man roster isn't the only thing that NFL teams need to decide on this week. The league's cutdown deadline from 90 to 53 will come and go on Sunday afternoon, and on Monday it will be time for teams to begin ******* embling the other major piece of their rosters: the practice squad.
Over the last several years, this component of the roster has expanded greatly in significance. Not long ago, teams could carry a maximum of 8 players on the practice squad, but that number has gradually increased, now doubling to 16 (plus an additional 17th spot if a team signs a player with an international roster exemption). Furthermore, a player can be elevated from the practice squad to the active gameday roster a few times per year without a full promotion to the 53, making the unit a more functional squad of backups and injury replacements.
As a result, the NFL has expanded the eligibility rules for practice squads over the years as well. Now, a team can sign players with any level of experience to the squad. At least ten of the 16 spots must be taken up by players with two or fewer years of accrued NFL experience, but that leaves up to six slots that can be filled by players of any experience level.
Notably, teams cannot begin signing players to the practice squad until the league's post-roster cut waivers are processed. That will take place at 12 Noon Central Time on Monday, when waiver claims will be awarded. After that, any players who clear waivers become free agents and are eligible to sign with any team, either to a full 53-man roster spot or to a practice squad. Still, there will be reports during cutdown day on Sunday of players whom the Packers would like to bring back for the practice squad if they do clear waivers. Here, APC will keep track of those reports through Sunday, followed by the actual signings on Monday afternoon.
The Green Bay Packers have used the practice squad heavily in recent years as rules have changed, often promoting players to the gameday roster to fill in for injured players or to contribute on special teams. As such, today is an important day for general manager Brian Gutekunst and his staff, who will surely be working hard to bring back several individuals whom the Packers waived as part of Sunday's cutdown. Building out a deep squad can have a major impact on a team's ability to withstand challenges over the course of the season, and the quality of players on that unit could be the difference between the Packers going over or under their projected win total of 9.5, which is the current number on FanDuel sportsbook.

In between his two media interactions, the Indian captain saw his team register a comprehensive win in Galle and then settle for a draw in a fixture they were well positioned to win in Colombo. Although the series was won, the trophy secured, and his undefeated run as captain checked off crucial boxes, India left behind crucial WTC points needed to boost their win percentage.

As captain, he had his most challenging few days under the sun in Colombo when Sonal Dinusha and the Sri Lanka's tail frustrated the visitors and prevented them from getting the result they desperately wanted. There were moments he would helplessly stand and observe from the short-cover position, have an intense chat with head coach Gautam Gambhir when nothing worked and then even egg his teammates on when their shoulders started dropping.

"It gets very frustrating," he said regarding the challenges, explaining the questions that follow. "Was follow-on the best decision, was it not? But then you have to go back in the moment and see, what can I do? Did I make the best decision in that moment? Yes, I did. Then you can't do anything about it. You have to keep trying your best, and I think we did that," added the Indian captain.

While they struggled to remove the Sri Lankan tail in both innings, Gill was not ready to pin the blame on any of his teammates and lauded their effort.

"We tried all that we could, and at the end of the day, even from the players, you can expect them giving their 100%, their top efforts, and I don't think there was any lacking in intensity or the efforts that we put in," said Gill.
Highlighting the volume of overs the spinners bowled on a surface which became easier to bat as the game progressed, Gill gave them 10/10 for effort and intent, and continued to focus on the ultimate goal - the World Test Championship.

"The spinners bowled 50-60 overs on the trot for three days. Fielding for three days is not an easy task in these conditions with the heat. In terms of effort, I would say 10 out of 10 for the effort and the intent. A lot of learning, so many things won't always go as you plan, but as long as we still have a chance to qualify for the World Test Championship," added Gill.

India operated with in-out field positions for most of the match, offering significant protection against the sweep, especially when Sonal Dinusha was at the crease. Jeanie Buss has petitioned a Los Angeles Superior Court to block her five siblings from selling the family's remaining 17.8% stake in the Lakers, which she claims to be a scheme to remove her from her role as team governor, according to The Athletic's Sam Amick and Melody Gutierrez.
A court hearing is reportedly scheduled for Nov. 5.
The five other siblings — Johnny, Jim, Janie, Joey and Jesse — announced their intention to sell days after majority owner Mark Walter, who bought the lion's share of the team from the Busses last year, was reported to be selling his stake in the team to Josh Kushner and Bob Iger, at a record valuation of $12.5 billion.
The five siblings reportedly voted to invoke a "tag-along" clause to sell their stake to Kushner and Iger, prompting a response from Jeanie's lawyer declaring any vote to sell as "void."

The college football season is finally here. Week 0 will kick things off this weekend, and it's actually not a terrible slate for Saturday.
Among the teams that are playing are the North Carolina Tar Heels, who will face off against the TCU Horned Frogs in Ireland. Former Formula 1 team principal Otmar Szafnauer believes Max Verstappen is continuing to improve and has still not reached his peak performance.
During an episode of the High Performance Racing podcast alongside host Jake Humphrey and former Ferrari race engineer Rob Smedley, Szafnauer discussed the standout drivers he has encountered during his career in the paddock.
When Humphrey prompted the panel to name the greatest drivers they had worked alongside and competed against, Szafnauer named four-time champion Sebastian Vettel as the best driver he had worked with before turning his attention to the fiercest rivals he had faced while on the pitwall.
"Greatest I worked with, Vettel. Greatest I went up against, tough either Michael [Schumacher] or Lewis [Hamilton]," Szafnauer explained.
When asked why he didn't consider four-time champion Verstappen, he added: "Well, I don't think Max is at his peak yet. I think he's going to get better."

Barcelona's interest in Lautaro Martinez appears to have hit an immediate obstacle, with Inter Milan making it clear that their captain is not available for transfer.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Inter have received no offer from Barcelona for the Argentine striker.
More importantly, the Italian club are not expecting one and would have no interest in considering a sale even if Barcelona were to make an approach.

Roman Anthony begins a rehab **** ignment on Tuesday, but when he gets back to Boston, his friend Marcelo Mayer will not be there.
Mayer and Anthony were two-thirds of Boston's "big three" of prospects, which also included Kristian Campbell. Anthony was a star in the big leagues almost instantly and signed an extension, but Mayer did not have the same fate. He struggled as a hitter and dealt with injuries. The Red Sox decided to trade him at the deadline after adding Curtis Mead in a separate trade.
"Obviously, Marcelo hit a little different," Anthony told reporters on Tuesday, per WooSox reporter Tommy Cassell. "I came up with him and lived with him every day, and he was my roommate since we were — since I was 18, 19 years old. So, seeing him go, I was excited for him to kind of get a new opportunity and almost like a refresh and to be back close to home, I think it'll be good for him and hopefully get to see him come to Boston, that'd be pretty cool, right? But yeah, I was sad. Obviously, spoke to him, still speak to him quite a bit. So, I hope all goes well for him always."
Mayer, Campbell and Anthony were once expected to lead the Red Sox into a new era of greatness, but it looks more like it will be Anthony alone leading the way.

Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Solo Sikoa fought back against Roman Reigns and his other family members in the Bloodline with help from LA Knight on WWE Raw.
Sikoa was delivered to Reigns on Monday after he lost to his older brother Jey Uso last week on Raw. Sikoa was going to be forced back into the Bloodline, which also includes his older brother Jimmy Uso and cousin Jacob Fatu.
Reigns, the World Heavyweight Champion, berated Sikoa and made fun of his appearance before crushing his sunglasses.
Fatu then ******* aulted Sikoa as Reigns named Jimmy and Jey Uso captains of the Bloodline for delivering Sikoa.
Knight, who had become Sikoa's friend in recent weeks, had seen enough and marched into the ring. Knight fought off The Usos until he came face to face with Reigns.
