A TikTok posted by marktilbury on July 29, 2026, shows him questioning tipping at several stops, including a hotel. The video drew about 4.2 million views and about 315,200 likes at the time of publication.
An unseen narrator records the creator at each stop. At a fast-food restaurant, the narrator can be heard asking, "Wait, aren't you gonna leave a tip?" "What for? I've served myself," the TikToker answered. He then says the payment kiosk prompted him to tip 15 percent.
He then stops at a coffee shop, where the narrator asks him again, "Okay, well, surely you tip for that coffee." Mark replies, "She didn't even crack a smile and still expects a 30% tip?" He then adds, "Absolutely not." The narrator replied, "Right."
Outside a hotel, the narrator told him, "Well, you have to tip for this valet." The creator asked, "Why? I've already paid $100 to park the car."
The narrator then pointed out that Tilbury is a millionaire. "Yeah, but you are a millionaire and this is American culture," the voice said.

Von Der Leyen's State of the Union address noted Europe needs to rebalance unfair trade, cut red tape, and strengthen its industrial and strategic autonomy.
But Euratex said it regretted that industrial competitiveness failed to muster as much attention as other issues in the address.
The trade body is calling on the Commission to match the political commitments with an equal sense of urgency on industrial competitiveness, and to place manufacturing sectors, such as textiles, more firmly at the centre of its agenda in the months ahead.
"Europe cannot build a strong defence, lead the green and digital transitions, or protect its social model on a weakening industrial base. Competitiveness is not just one chapter of the European project – it is the foundation all the others are built on; when we get that right, everything else becomes possible.", states Dirk Vantyghem, director general, Euratex.
Specifically, Euratex is urging action on trade-defence measures including stronger customs enforcement and imports monitoring for textile products, with particular regard to the trade deficit with China, which has "reached a tipping point."

The Denver Broncos drive was derailed by a really bad holding call on Pat Bryant. The hold was just the Kansas City Chiefs player falling down, but that's how it goes in today's NFL. They would punt it back to the Chiefs after gaining most of the yards back.
Denver's defense would come up big on the Chiefs' next drive with Malcolm Roach tipping a third down pass near midfield to force another punt.
Starting from their own 12 yard line, Bo Nix and the Broncos offense opened things up with a checkdown to Adam Trautman for a six yard gain and a quick toss outside to Pat Bryant was an easy first down but he took his eye off the ball just long enough to drop it. On third down and four, Nix hit Jaylen Waddle finally but was immediately hit and tackled a yard short of the first down marker.
After a short two yard run for the Chiefs, Que Robinson exploded off the edge and nearly sacked Patrick Mahomes who threw the ball into the dirt to avoid the sack. On third and eight, Mahomes was pressured again and somehow picked his way through the line and gained just enough for the first down. That would be all they would get and would be punting a few plays later.
A nice punt return by Marvin Mims Jr. finally got the Broncos starting position outside of the 20 yard line for a change. An end around by Troy Franklin picked up five, then an outstanding spin move by RJ Harvey picked up four yards. On third and one, Nix from an empty backfield was immediately pressured and had to scramble to throw it away for yet another punt.

Pete Alonso returned to Citi Field on Monday with the Baltimore Orioles after seven seasons with the New York Mets, for whom he was arguably the face of the team.
Batting second for Baltimore, Alonso received a standing ovation from the crowd as his walk-up song "Layla" played over the ballpark loudspeakers. Alonso acknowledged the cheers by taking off his helmet and tipping it to the crowd.
Before the first pitch, fans chanted Alonso's name in appreciation for his seven seasons in Queens. The Mets also played a tribute video to their longtime slugger as fans and his former teammates applauded.
The chants continued as the game started and Alonso flew out to right field in his first at-bat.
In his seven seasons with the Mets, Alonso recorded a .253/.341/.516 slash line wth 264 home runs and 712 RBI. He won National League Rookie of the Year honors in 2019, when he hit 53 homers.

If there is a reason for USC football fans to be very optimistic about the upcoming game against Oregon, it's more than just the Ducks' substandard performance. Oregon's coaching staff, with new offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer aboard, might be out of its depth.
Mike Ostrom of Duck Sports Central has more on this:
"Oregon Tipping a Run or Pass - This isn't sign stealing; this is good old fashioned film study and insight. Oklahoma State saw something on film and the result was Cowboy players knowing whether a run or pass was coming.
"'We were noticing earlier in the week that their (Oregon's) offensive line had tendencies that helped us key into run (or) pass and a couple areas we could take advantage of,' said senior linebacker Tate Romney, 'and obviously our defensive line was keyed into that. That was one big thing that gave us a big advantage.' What were those tendencies? 'Just their offensive line had a few stance indicators for most of the time run/pass,' said Romney."
Oregon and Dan Lanning did not have these problems under previous offensive coordinator Will Stein. Lanning had highly professional offensive coordinators the past few years with Stein and predecessor Kenny Dillingham calling plays. The drop-off from them to Drew Mehringer seems steep, and it's a big reason not only for Oregon's decline, but for USC's increased chances of being able to beat the Ducks later this September.

HONG KONG, Sept 14 (Reuters) - The Himalayas are approaching a tipping point as glaciers melt faster than a decade ago, threatening water security as the region approaches "peak water" by mid-century, according to a study released this month.
The findings come after the collapse of a Himalayan glacier in late August along the Nepal-Tibet border, which caused cascading landslides and flash floods in the valleys below. At least 1,300 people have been confirmed dead and more than 5,300 are missing across Nepal and China's Tibet region.
As glaciers retreat, they are leaving behind unstable glacial lakes held back by little more than loose rock and ice, above valleys where millions of people live, the study found.
The study was produced by Systemiq, a sustainability advisory firm, together with the Integrated Mountain Initiative, the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development, and India's G.B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment.
Himalayan glacier mass loss had accelerated in recent decades, while only 21 glaciers were currently monitored on the ground out of an estimated 40,000 glaciers across the Hindu Kush-Himalaya region, a vast mountain system spanning eight countries from Afghanistan to Myanmar, the study found.

Nuggets projected to see big Jamal Murray leap to help Nikola Jokic, but there's a catch originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Championship windows are closing for some squads in the NBA. The Denver Nuggets will have to watch this happen in real time. Nikola Jokic is starting to approach the twilight of his prime and everyone around him should act fast to maximize that. Jamal Murray is usually the tipping point that decides whether they do well. For the 2026-27 NBA season, luck is on the side of Mile High City and their fans.
Will Murray rise to become an All-Star and All-NBA selection once again? Let's break it down!
Shot diet was the main reason the Nuggets struggled against opponents during the 2025-26 NBA season. They attempted 87.8 field goals per game, ranking 26th in the NBA. Denver shot an impressive 39.6% from three and 49.6% from the field, ranking first and second in the league, respectively, which means they should try to stuff the rim more from all parts of the floor.
This is where Jamal Murray comes in to help the Nuggets led by Nikola Jokic. His Basketball Reference Per 36 Minutes Projections for the 2026-27 NBA season are as follows:

Gabriel insists ******* nal are not satisfied with winning the Premier League last season, and they have their sights set on several more trophies as a team, with many people tipping them to dominate both domestic and European football.
The Gunners finished second in three consecutive seasons before finally winning the league, and in the same season, they reached the final of the Carabao Cup and the Champions League. It was one of the best periods in the club's history, as they continued to perform consistently well under their manager.
Arteta is keen to ensure ******* nal perform at a high level during this campaign as well. The manager recognises the importance of maintaining certain standards, but his players understand this too, and they have returned for the new season as hungry as possible.
Their start to this season has been impressive, and many expect them to add more ******* les to their cabinet when the campaign ends next summer. Gabriel will be an important part of that challenge, and the defender has made it clear that the players are determined to achieve more after winning the Premier League.
Arsenal's ambition is not limited to one competition, with the squad aiming to challenge for the major trophies available to them. Gabriel believes the desire to win must remain strong, particularly because the players themselves welcome the pressure that comes with representing the club.

Texas State football head coach GJ Kinne didn't hold back much after Saturday's 59-7 loss to Texas.
Sure, the Longhorns' talent was glaring. They tore through the Bobcats' defense, while their punter never left the sideline. Texas State's offense showed some signs of life against a front seven that features a couple of future NFL players. But Kinne said the mental mishaps frustrated him more than anything else.
"I can deal with physically getting beat," Kinne said. "But when you're playing someone like Texas Week 1 on the road, every time you make a (mental) mistake like that, they're going to make you pay for it."
Texas State can't afford to be as sloppy next week. It hosts UTSA in a rivalry matchup that could be a tipping point for both teams' 2026 season. Here are some takeaways from Texas State's loss:

There is always a winner in any major global oil crisis. In 1973/74, it was Saudi Arabia and its OPEC brothers who shifted the balance of power in the market away from the previous arrangement dominated by the West's 'Seven Sisters' to the oil producers of the Middle East. After the 2014-2016 Oil Price War, it was the U.S. whose earlier nascent shale oil sector resisted the threat to its very existence from Saudi Arabia and OPEC, reorganising into a meaner, leaner, lower-cost oil production machine. The U.S. was the winner again in the short-lived 2020 Oil Price War, and this, along with all the other major crises mentioned, is ****** ysed in full in my latest book on the global oil markets. The latest rupture in the global oil market order that followed the U.S.'s 'Operation Epic Fury' against Iran that began on 28 February has also produced a clear winner. It is neither the U.S., Saudi Arabia, nor the other OPEC states -- it is China. So, how inclined will Beijing be to heed Washington's newly announced sanctions on Iran ahead of the meeting of its President Xi Jinping with U.S. counterpart Donald Trump on 24 September at the White House?
The sanctions in question were announced on 20 August by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who stated they would be "the toughest sanctions in history" on Iran, under the umbrella of 'Economic D-Day' for the country. The direct sanctions on Iran aim for the complete financial isolation and economic shutdown of the regime by cutting off all domestic and international revenue streams. To this end, the U.S. Treasury blacklisted five core sectors of Iran's economy -- Digital ****** ets/Crypto, Technology, Gold, Aviation, and Shipping -- making any business operating within them subject to immediate ****** et freezes. At the same time, all longstanding humanitarian, academic, athletic, and personal remittance exemptions were indefinitely suspended, including a complete ban on non-commercial family money transfers and joint research collaborations. In parallel with this, the state-run Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) and commercial aviation fleets were put under a strict operational embargo, cutting off access to foreign ports, refuelling, and aircraft spare parts. Immediate ****** et freezes were also levied against procurement networks, cyber warfare units, and business syndicates tied to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

In tandem with this, the U.S. Treasury, along with sister organisations, will fully utilise secondary sanctions to force foreign governments and companies to choose between trading with Iran or trading with the U.S., under the umbrella of 'Operation Economic Outcast'. Over the coming decades, nuclear energy will be a $10 trillion opportunity. That's according to Bank of America ****** ysts, who are particularly excited about a relatively novel method of producing nuclear power: small modular reactors, or SMRs.
"Amid surging electricity demand, driven in part by the rise in AI/data centers, nuclear energy offers a potential solution," Bank of America concluded in a recent report. "And new advancements in technology may now make the tipping point in sight for small modular reactors (SMRs) to reshape nuclear energy supply chains over the next decade."

NuScale Power (NYSE: SMR) is currently the only company in the U.S. approved by regulators to build an SMR system. On a recent call with investors, CEO John Hopkins stressed that the company remains "the only SMR company in the world to have earned U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission standard design approval," adding that it has "done it for two separate designs, our 50-megawatt and our 77-megawatt modules."
Many other companies are currently working through the approval process for SMRs. But NuScale has leveraged its early approvals to secure large deals, including a 6-gigawatt project for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). If built, that system would be the largest SMR facility in the world by a large margin.

But NuScale has leveraged its early approvals to secure large deals, including a 6-gigawatt project for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). If built, that system would be the largest SMR facility in the world by a large margin.

Jelly Roll has taunted President Donald Trump, calling him a "fat pig".
The Grammy winner got a few things off his chest as a guest host on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night and joked he had lost so much weight in recent years, it was equivalent to an "entire Donald Trump".
In his opening monologue, Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, explained that, as Donald, 80, had reportedly recently gained weight, the president was "now tipping the scales at almost 240".
"In the last few years I've lost 300lbs," Jelly Roll, 41, shared. "That means I've lost an entire Donald Trump."
The 41-year-old country-rap star then added the punchline, "And let's be honest, based on his approval ratings, it seems like most of the country wants to do the same thing", to raucous audience applause.
Jelly Roll then played a highlights reel of Donald mocking overweight people and describing former New Jersey governor Chris Christie as "a fat pig" and "a big fat slob" - which Jelly Roll joked was a case of "the pot calling the kettle fat".

Jelly Roll is celebrating his weight loss – and taking a dig at President Donald Trump in the process.
The country star is guest hosting "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" for the week, his second time stepping in for the comedian and taking on the role of political commentator.
The "I Need a Favor" singer covered the president attending the Freedom 250 Grand Prix, though "sadly, those are the only laps Trump's been doing lately," he quipped.
"According to the Washington Post, a lot of doctors are worried about the president's weight," the singer, 41, said on the Aug. 24 episode. "After his last physical, we found out Trump gained 14 pounds, which means he's now tipping the scales at almost 240. It's crazy."
As for himself, he recently hit a new weight loss milestone.

LOS ANGELES -- This was a much better contest than the one on Thursday.
Unfortunately for the Sparks, the result was the same.
Angel Reese seemed to grab the ball every time it was in the air. She would end the game with a record 26 rebounds and the Dream defeated the Sparks in a hard-fought match, 78-71.
The Sparks only outrebounded Reese by herself, 32-26, which sounds ridiculous.
"She's elite," Sparks coach Lynne Roberts said about Reese. "Did we miss her a couple times on the boards? Eight offensive rebounds is a ton. But I think she's the best in the world at it. I really do. I think she has a way of... her timing is good, she's strong, she's got great physicality, but she knows how to kind of lean to kind of get you out of position to where you can now jump and do it. She does a good job tipping it kind of to herself. She's good. Could we have done a better job? Certainly. But you also have to tip your hat to who I think is one of the best rebounders in the world."

Tennessee football coach Josh Heupel left open the possibility that he could wait until game week to name his starting quarterback, but he's not tipping his hand.
It appears five-star freshman Faizon Brandon leads the competition with sophomore George MacIntyre after the final intrasquad scrimmage of preseason practice on Aug. 22, which was closed to media and the public.
Brandon connected on a deep pass to Mike Matthews and broke a few long runs. But he also tossed an interception and missed some short high-percentage passes.
The scrimmage continued to showcase Brandon's big-play potential as a runner and passer, as well as predictable freshman mistakes.
MacIntyre managed the offense reasonably well. But he tossed an interception that was returned for a touchdown, and he overthrew a deep pass.

Former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford (R) announced Friday he is backing GOP Rep. Ralph Norman (S.C.) in the race to serve a full term in the late Sen. Lindsey Graham's (R-S.C.) seat.
Sanford, who generally refrains from offering political endorsements, said in a statement shared on social media that he felt "compelled to offer" his perspective in the race after the national debt hit $40 trillion this week.
"As much as I would like to honor tradition and old friendships, the stakes are simply too high as our nation really is at a financial tipping point," the former governor said. "It's for these reasons and more that I will be voting for Ralph on Tuesday and respectfully ask that you do the same."
Sanford's endorsement comes ahead of the GOP primary runoff next Tuesday between Norman and Graham's sister, Sen. Darline Graham (R-S.C.), who was tapped to serve out the remainder of the late senator's term.
The race advanced to a runoff after neither candidate secured a majority of the vote in the state's Republican primary last week.

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts addressed closer Edwin Diaz going on the injured list following a run of bad performances.
Through Edwin Diaz's struggles, Roberts has stood by his closer and kept giving him chances, including a fiery defense.
However, after allowing four hits and three runs on Monday against the Rockies, things reached a tipping point for the Dodgers, and they have placed Diaz on the injured list.
The official diagnosis is neck inflammation, though according to Roberts, Diaz will get a full scan when he gets to Los Angeles about how serious the problem is.

It didn't take Nasir Wyatt far into his freshman season with the Oregon Ducks before he began impressing, as he recorded his first career sack in the Ducks' second game against the Montana State Bobcats. He logged only 39 snaps but made the absolute most of them, finishing the year third on the team with three sacks, a forced fumble and 11 total tackles.
Primarily deployed on third-down blitzes and various pressures, Wyatt used his 6-foot-2, 228-pound frame to blast past would-be blocker and get to the quarterback in a flash. But what proved to be his superpower also turned out to be his downfall, as a sub-230-pound edge rusher had to be schemed into action. If he were to be on the field on early downs, teams would likely target his side and run the ball right at him, capitalizing on his lean frame.
No more in 2026. With his newly-chiseled, bulky frame, Wyatt arrived at fall camp already impressing and has continued that sentiment through one week, with CBS Sports' Brad Crawford tabbing him as one of the biggest risers thus far infall camp.
"From failing to bulk up early in his career to now tipping the scales at a muscular 245 pounds, Wyatt finally looks the part as one of the Ducks' outside linebackers," Crawford wrote. "Defensive coordinator Chris Hampton said after Oregon's second day of fall camp that Wyatt has a chance to be an "every-down player" this fall, which speaks to his offseason body makeover and what he's shown on the field early. That level of consistency must continue, Hampton says, to warrant extended reps at an uber-talented position group for one of the Big Ten's frontrunners."
Reps won't come easy for Wyatt, who, as a hybrid linebacker/edge rusher, is behind starters Matayo Uiagalelei and Teitum Tuioti, two players garnering early-round buzz in the 2027 NFL Draft class.

Editor's note: The Sunday, Aug. 9, game between the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox is in a rain delay with the Guardians leading 2-1 in the top of the second inning.
Right-hander Davis Martin will look to better disguise his pitches when the Chicago White Sox go for a series victory against the visiting Cleveland Guardians on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 9.
Martin (9-6, 4.13 ERA) is looking to rebound from a rough outing and potentially correct a pitch-tipping issue.
In a 14-2 loss at Boston on Aug. 4, Martin allowed nine runs on 10 hits with two walks and one strikeout over five innings. He surrendered three home runs.
White Sox manager Will Venable said catcher Kyle Teel, who currently is sidelined with an ankle injury, noticed from the dugout that Martin might have been tipping his pitches. Martin said adjustments made during the game appeared to make a difference.

Acting runs in Melanie Griffith's family.
Her mom Tippi Hedren got her start as a model before she got her big break when director Alfred Hitchcock discovered her and cast her in his 1963 classic, The Birds. From then on, Hedren starred in other films such as Marnie, Through the Eyes of a Killer, Pacific Heights and more.
In 1957, Hedren and then-husband Peter Griffith welcomed Melanie, who went on to forge her own illustrious career in Hollywood. Melanie — the star of films such as Joy Ride, Paradise, Mulholland Falls and more — would welcome her first daughter, Dakota Johnson, in 1989, who continues to carry the leading lady torch.
As Griffith celebrates her 69th birthday on Aug. 9, 2026, check out some of the special moments the three generations of actresses have shared in public through the years.

When the Philadelphia Eagles acquired Tank Bigsby, no one questioned his ability. Few, however, expected him to become a focal point of some potential offensive air raid. Through three NFL seasons, the former Auburn Tigers standout has caught just 11 passes, building his reputation as a physical, downhill runner rather than a dual-threat back who can stress defenses as a target out of the backfield.
Early in training camp, however, the Eagles appear to be exploring a different side of his game. While Saquon Barkley remains the unquestioned centerpiece of Philadelphia's backfield, Bigsby has been featured as a receiver as much as, if not more than, a ball carrier during practice. That may not be an accident.
Training camp isn't just about preparing players for Week 1. It's also an opportunity for coaches to discover traits that may have gone untapped elsewhere. Bigsby's work in the passing game suggests the Eagles are doing exactly that.
If he can prove capable of contributing as a receiver, Bigsby becomes more than Barkley's primary backup. He becomes a more complete offensive option who can stay on the field in a wider variety of situations without tipping the play call. He tracks as one of the most important pieces of the Eagles' offensive machine this season.
That versatility would only strengthen an offense that already features one of the NFL's deepest collections of skill-position talent. It also aligns with Philadelphia's broader objective of managing Barkley's workload.

FC Barcelona has made a major statement in the transfer market. Hansi Flick has decided to personally take charge of the negotiations to secure the signing of Rodri Hernández, star of Manchester City and a key target for the Barça board.
As journalist Carlos Monfort revealed in SPORT, the German coach held a phone conversation with the Spanish midfielder in recent hours. During the call, Flick conveyed the club's genuine interest and outlined the key role he would play in his project.
This strong move confirms the Blaugrana side's definitive entry into the race for the Madrid-born holding midfielder. The manager's direct involvement is aimed at speeding up a strategic operation to strengthen Barça's midfield ahead of the challenges to come.
The phone contact also comes at a crucial moment. It was recently leaked that Barcelona has managed to gain the upper hand and move into pole position to complete his signing, overtaking Real Madrid in the race.
Despite the financial complexity and Rodri's importance at Manchester City, optimism reigns within the Catalan club. The ambitious sporting proposal explained by Flick could be decisive in tipping the balance in favor of Camp Nou.
