When Colorado opens the college football regular season, it may do so without head coach Deion Sanders. The 59-year-old Sanders was reportedly subpoenaed to testify in court as part of his son Shilo's bankruptcy trial, according to USA Today.
That trial is expected to begin Aug. 31 and last roughly five days, potentially taking it through Sept. 4. Colorado opens its season against Georgia Tech on Sept. 3.
The judge presiding over the case, Judge Michael E. Romero, noted the potential conflict for Sanders during a pretrial conference attended by USA Today. Romero added that, due to the game, Sanders would likely fight the subpoena.
"I'm also concerned there's a game: CU's first game is that same week," Judge Romero said on the Zoom conference, which also was attended by USA TODAY Sports. "So I can see that coming. I am not a CU alum or I have no ties to CU. So I don't care. But I'm just recognizing that is a potential issue."
It's unclear whether Sanders has been served the subpoena yet. Romero merely noted that the subpoena had been issued.

Deion Sanders's preparation for Colorado's 2026 opener could be complicated by an unrelated obligation.
Brent Schrotenboer of USA Today reports that Deion has been subpoenaed to testify at the upcoming bankruptcy trial involving his son, Shilo.
The trial begins on Monday, August 31. The following Saturday, Colorado plays at Georgia Tech.
The presiding judge recently commented on the situation during a pre-trial conference.

Brad Pitt is drinking again in moderation after spending seven years completely sober.
The Oscar-winning actor and producer, 62, spoke about his relationship with alcohol in a new interview published Monday.
"No, I got—I was sober for seven years. And then I got back off the wagon," Pitt told Esquire. "In a more restrained manner. I got overconfident a couple times, went, Yep, nope, not good for me. Not in big quantities."
He added that he can "have a few" glasses of wine, saying, "But I can't have a lot. I have to be professional about it."
Pitt first cut out drinking in 2016 following his highly publicized split from Angelina Jolie, with whom he shares children Maddox, 24, Zahara, 21, Pax, 22, Shiloh, 20, Knox, 18, and Vivienne, 18.

Former Colorado football player Shilo Sanders is seeking to have the written transcript of his coming bankruptcy trial sealed from public view, along with any exhibits displayed at the trial where Sanders hopes to escape more than $11 million in debt, according to a new case document filed Aug. 3.
The filing says Sanders, son of Colorado football coach Deion Sanders, does not oppose keeping the trial proceedings public but wants to seal any written record of it in large part because the case contains information relating to when Sanders was a minor at age 15.
Attorneys for USA TODAY filed a motion to intervene in the Sanders' bankruptcy case July 22 − a request that seeks greater transparency in this high-profile case after several developments in it recently were conducted in secret, including a pretrial court hearing July 14.
On July 31, Sanders' attorney, Victor Vital, filed his response to that request under seal, keeping its contents from public view. USA TODAY's attorneys, who have access to the response, replied with an Aug. 3 court filing that references what Vital proposed.
USA TODAY's filing notes that Sanders's response does not oppose keeping the Aug. 31 trial proceedings open to the public "but buries the fact that his proposed order would seal the complete trial transcript and any exhibits submitted as evidence at trial."

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's daughter is declaring her independence.
Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, the youngest daughter of the A-list actors and former spouses, filed a petition to change her last name in the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday, July 20, according to court documents obtained by USA TODAY.
Jolie and Pitt, who at the height of their Hollywood romance were known as "Brangelina," share six children: Maddox, 24; Pax, 22; Zahara, 21; Shiloh, 20; and 18-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox. Jolie, 51, filed for divorce in September 2016 following two years of marriage, and the pair finalized their split in December 2024 after being declared legally single in 2019.

Vivienne Jolie-Pitt is the latest of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's six children to legally drop Pitt from her last name, amid the F1 star's reported estrangement from his family. The 18-year-old, who celebrated her milestone birthday on July 12, filed a petition with the Los Angeles County Superior Court to legally change her name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie.
According to court documents, she listed the reason for the major decision as "personal", and a court hearing is scheduled for her petition on November 2. Vivienne has made no secret about distancing herself from her famous father in the past, and chose to drop "Pitt" when her name was listed on the playbill for The Outsiders, which Angelina directed on Broadway in 2024.
The teen is following in her siblings' footsteps with the move, after Shiloh, 20, was the first to legally change her name. Zahara, 21, and Maddox, 24, are currently in the process of dropping "Pitt" from their name, with the former's hearing scheduled for September 28 and the latter's hearing scheduled for September 14.

Angelina and Brad's remaining two sons, Pax and Knox, have yet to make any legal moves to change their names, but the latter opted to go by "Knox Jolie" on his high school diploma when graduating in June. Brad has not been spotted in public with any of his six kids since 2016.

After selecting Egor Shilov in the second round, the Colorado Avalanche rounded out their 2026 draft class with a whopping eight more picks before the day was over. All-together collecting three forwards, four defensemen and two goaltenders as new prospects to the organization.
In the third round Beckett Hamilton was selected at 74th overall out of Red Deer in the WHL. He’s known as a hard-working well-rounded right shot center, which pairs well with perhaps a riskier upside bet in Shilovs from the previous round. Hamilton stands at 5-foot-11 and was ranked 33rd by NHL Central Scouting after putting up 62 points in 67 games. Hamilton has been a member of Team Canada contributing three goals at the U18 tournament.
A pair of picks by the Avalanche completed the fourth round. There they obtained their first goaltender of the draft in Tobias Tvrznik at 126th overall, He possesses the 6-foot-4 size the organization loves and plays for Wenatchee in the WHL. Altgough he was ranked 8th for North American goalies by Central Scouting, Tvrznik was drafted in his second time through the process. The Czech netminder is committed to Ohio State for the 2027-28 season.
Two picks later at 128th overall the first of several defensemen went off the board to Colorado with the selection of 5-foot-11 right shot Swedish defenseman Axel Elofsson. He scored 41 points in 39 games playing at the U20 level for Örebro and played six games for the organization at the SHL level. Eloffson has been an important player for the Swedish international team winning a gold at the U18, silver at the Hlinka Gretzky and bronze at the WJAC all in the 2025-26 season while also picking up accolades for most points and ***** ists. He was ranked 29th by Central Scouting for European players.
In the fifth round Joe Sakic executed his second ever move up the board utilizing their lowest seventh round pick at 222nd overall to jump nine spots to take right shot defenseman Cole Tuminaro at the 140th pick. He was ranked 96th by Central Scouting for North American skaters. It’s interesting strategy because the 6-foot-4 and 225 pound right hander is a 19-year-old re-entry who scored 16 points to go along with 148 penalty minutes. Every organization wants to add size and grit but these prospects are very difficult to develop. He’s excepted to plat at Cornell next season after leaving the USHL.

“While They Hatin On Us”: Deion Sanders Jr Takes Aim at Haters by Flaunting 5000 Acre Ranch
Deion Sanders and his family have been subject to public scrutiny on various occasions. Coach Prime has received backlash for his disappointing performance with the Colorado Buffaloes. His sons, Shedeur and Shilo, also received criticism after transitioning to the NFL. Shilo, despite signing as a UDFA with the Buccaneers, was waived last year following a pre-season altercation.
However, Coach Prime’s eldest son, Deion Sanders Jr., who is also known as Bucky, clapped back at the haters and trolls with a post on social media. He shared a video showing off their 5000 acre ranch in Texas. At the start of the video, Bucky flaunted the massive open area by playing golf in the front yard.
Deion Sanders then talked about the lakes they have on the property where we’ve seen Coach Prime go fishing with his former player, Travis Hunter, and other friends. Bucky showed off other insane features at the property, including the tennis court, a vintage car collection, a basketball court, and an outdoor jacuzzi, to name a few. He accompanied the post with a caption that read:
“While they hating on us…”
Deion Sanders Jr. played football like his brothers in college. However, he decided not to pursue it professionally and enter the world of content creation. He founded his own company called “Well of Media,” which creates content and video for the Colorado Buffaloes.
