WASHINGTON (AP) — The House Ethics Committee recommended Monday that Rep. Chuck Edwards, R-N.C., be censured after finding that he engaged in persistent unprofessional and inappropriate conduct toward two young female aides in his congressional office.
A censure registers the House's deep disapproval of a lawmaker's conduct that does not meet the threshold for expulsion.
Edwards, 65, has denied that any of his conduct was intended as a ******* ual or romantic advance, but the committee said his behavior would "lead a reasonable observer to interpret it as such." It also described his actions as "beyond inappropriate."
The panel highlighted numerous examples of actions it considered improper, including Edwards providing the young women with lavish and recurrent gifts, making comments regarding their appearance and dress, inviting them to intimate dinners and vacations, and sending notes regarding his affection.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Faced with a narrow path to winning control of the U.S. House, Democrats are seeing fresh opportunity in a northeast Ohio congressional seat where the Republican incumbent is facing mounting pressure over domestic abuse allegations in a bitter and drawn-out dispute with his ex-wife.
Allegations against U.S. Rep. Max Miller, a White House adviser during President Donald Trump's first term, have been public for years but have recently drawn increased media scrutiny amid an escalating legal back-and-forth with his former spouse, who is the daughter of U.S. Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio. That has Democrats sensing Miller could be vulnerable in a district he won two years ago with just over 51% of the vote.
Over the past week, they have called for Miller to resign, requested a congressional ethics investigation and suggested more help could be directed in the fall toward his Democratic opponent, union ironworker Brian Poindexter. The Norwegian Football Federation is considering filing a formal complaint to Fifa's ethics committee about the decision to suspend Folarin Balogun's automatic one-man ban during the World Cup.
United States forward Balogun was expected to miss his side's last-16 tie against Belgium after being shown a straight red card during their 2-0 win over Bosnia- Herzegovina.
But, after an intervention from US President Donald Trump, the one-match ban was suspended for 12 months. No reason was given, beyond citing a rule that allows punishments to be suspended.
Balogun started the match, which Belgium won 4-1.
In a statement provided to the BBC, NFF president Lise Klaveness said the federation had reacted with "strong concern" and a decision on whether or not to make a complaint would be made at its next board meeting.

Rep. Jeff Crank (R-Colo.) on Wednesday introduced a resolution requiring House lawmakers to disclose relationships with staffers of other offices or committees to the lower chamber's Committee on Ethics.
Crank's resolution proposes upholding the existing ban on lawmakers from dating their staffers or staffers of a committee they serve on. It also proposes mandating lawmakers confidentially disclose relationships with staffers in other offices or committees to the Ethics panel.
If the circumstances of the relationship changes, members must then give "prompt notification" to the committee.
Under the House Code of Official Conduct, members cannot engage in a "sexual relationship" with their staffers or staffers of committees they work on, with an exception for marriage.
While lawmakers cannot engage in "unwelcome ***** ual advances or conduct" to House employees, the code of conduct does not explicitly bar relationships between members and staffers of other offices and committees.

Norway's football chief told The Times they are set to make a formal complaint to FIFA over the suspension of Folarin Balogun's World Cup ban because it has put "the whole game at risk".
Lise Klaveness, the president of the Norwegian Football Federation (NFF), says she will seek the backing of her board at a meeting on August 6 to lodge the complaint with FIFA's ethics committee over an incident that "should not have happened".
Klaveness told AFP the intention is to "include the Balogun affair" in a complaint already filed by the NFF over FIFA president Gianni Infantino awarding football's governing body's inaugural Peace Prize to US President Donald Trump, which was widely ridiculed.
"I will bring it to a board meeting and discuss with my board, and then we do it," Klaveness told The Times in an interview published on Thursday.
"To me, it should be in the same sphere of ethical complaint."

Jeff Pearlman has spent much of the last several years positioning himself as one of sports media's loudest critics, frequently calling out journalists, broadcasters and media personalities over their work and ethics.
Now, the longtime sportswriter and bestselling author finds himself on the other side of that conversation.
Pearlman, a Southern California resident who has taught journalism as an adjunct professor at Chapman University for the past decade, publicly apologized after YouTube creator Velodus accused him of plagiarizing large portions of a 2021 video about former New York Yankees prospect Ruben Rivera. Velodus published a detailed follow-up video identifying what he said were 23 instances in which Pearlman's video mirrored his original work, including newspaper clippings, archival footage, photographs and editing choices. Pearlman's version appeared on his Press Box Chronicles YouTube channel, which has a significantly larger audience than Velodus' channel, and included a sponsored advertisement. After the allegations gained traction, Pearlman made the Rivera video private, deleted his Bluesky account (he had already previously deleted his X/Twitter account) and later released a TikTok video addressing the controversy.

The entity connected to World Liberty Financial received more than $33 million in annual income from Bitcoin and over $150 million from Ethereum over the course of 2025, plus about $1.8 million from staked Ethereum. Through another company named DT Marks Defi, the president also earned more than $5 million across several altcoins, including LINK, AAVE, ENA, MOVE, and ONDO, and over $56 million from the stablecoin USDC. The president's financial disclosure did not clearly specify how these crypto positions generated income. "Neither the president nor his family has ever engaged—or will ever engage—in conflicts of interest," Anna Kelly, a White House spokeswoman, told Fortune in a statement.
A January Wall Street Journal investigation revealed that the Trump family secretly sold a 49% stake in World Liberty Financial to Aryam Investment 1, a company backed by Abu Dhabi royal Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who serves as the United Arab Emirates' national security adviser. According to the president's latest financial disclosure, his entities DT Marks Defi and DT Marks SC realized nearly $263 million in net proceeds from the sale.
World Liberty Financial did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

July 1 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump secured a more than $50 million loan ‌last year from Charles Schwab Bank, ‌according to his annual disclosure for 2025 with the U.S. Office of Government Ethics.
Trump holds a pledged-asset line, a type of credit line that lets borrowers use their investments collateral ‌to borrow cash, ⁠with the lender, but it was not disclosed in his ethics ⁠filing for 2024.
The credit line has an interest rate of 3.9%, according to his 2025 disclosure, which was released on Tuesday. The exact ‌size of the loan or the purpose for which it was used was not disclosed.

An independent external legal review commissioned by HDFC Bank found no evidence to substantiate the governance or ethical concerns raised by its former chairman Atanu Chakraborty.
The bank appointed law firms in the March of this year after Chakraborty stepped down, pointing to "certain happenings and practices within the bank, that I have observed over last two years, are not in congruence with my personal Values and Ethics" as the rationale for his exit.
The exercise looked at whether the issues referred to in Chakraborty's statement were reflected in the record, whether he had formally noted any disagreement, and whether any such disagreement had been dealt with.
