Youssef Chermiti faces a long recovery from anterior cruciate ligament damage sustained shortly after Rangers turned down an offer for the striker.
The 22-year-old Portuguese was injured during Sunday's 2-1 home defeat to Hibernian as he collided with advertising boards following a jarring challenge.
A club announcement via social media states Chermiti "will be out of action for a significant period of time".
He moved to Ibrox from Everton in September 2025, reportedly becoming Rangers' most expensive purchase since Tore Andre Flo in 2000.
Capped at under-21 level by Portugal, the centre forward has made 43 Rangers appearances, 30 of them starts, scoring 15 goals.

LAS VEGAS – It will be nearly 20 months between fights for Billy Quarantillo, and the time off may have been worth it.
Quarantillo (18-7 MMA, 6-5 UFC) not only went under the knife, but he also made a major decision to move from the featherweight division up to lightweight. He'll get a chance to show off his new frame in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 284 at the Meta APEX (Paramount+), when he takes on Diego Ferreira.
"I had knee surgery last year, so obviously, that takes a lot of time away, and then just focusing on rehab, doing everything right," Quarantillo told reporters at media day about his absence. "Then I decided to move up a weight class because I'm getting older, but bigger, stronger. It's been great so far keeping the size on, but obviously, a long layoff."
The 37-year-old says he's been contemplating a switch after his most recent results, which did not go his way. He was stopped by Youssef Zalal and Cub Swanson in his last couple of appearances, but he felt he had to fight not only his human opponent but also an inanimate one: the scale. Moving forward, he's going to be focused moreso on fighting the person standing across the cage from him, and is optimistic the results will turn around.
"It's been one of those things that's been building up for the last couple of fights," Quarantillo said. "... Before the Youssef Zalal fight, I actually made weight, and I was puking the night before. Pretty much all night. As a fighter, I was like, 'Oh man, at least I lost some weight doing this.' Looking back on it, that was awful.

OH Leuven have once again changed manager to start the season. Felice Mazzu is out, with former Dender and Westerlo man Timmy Simons coming in. Can he finally help a side with a decent financial backing live up to its potential? Or will Leicester City's relegation from the second tier of English football diverted attention away from OH Leuven and towards the struggling foxes?
Transfers in: Emmanuel Addai (Qarabag), Jamie Lawrence (WSG Tirol), Takuya Ogiwara (Urawa Red Diamonds), Shin Yamada (Celtic), Dani van den Heuvel (Club Brugge), Lukasz Lakomy (Young Boys, converted loan)
Transfers out: Romeo Monticelli (Francs Borains), Casper Terho (Sparta Rotterdam), Takuma Ominami (Varen Nagasaki), Sory Kaba (Al-Dhafra), Takahiro Akimoto (Machida Zelvia), Theo Radelet (RAAL La Louviere), Youssef Maziz (Colorado), Mathieu Maertens (free), Maxence Prevot (Dunkerque)
Key player: Siebe Schrijvers
As a younger player, Schijvers was seen as a striker/winger, but in recent years he has converted into a very good central midfielder. The 30-year-old has been OH Leuven's best player for a number of years now, and will once again be key to their success this season. Injuries hampered him somewhat last season, with 30 games played and three goals scored. Keeping Schrijvers fit is key for an OH Leuven side that doesn't have much recognisable Pro League quality.

Al-Ahli's interest in Manu Kone has been confirmed, but the Saudi club face significant hurdles before any move for the Roma midfielder can take shape.
According to Gianluigi Longari, as relayed by AlfredoPedullà.com, Al-Ahli have Kone on their list alongside Idrissa Gueye, but they must first offload Enzo Millot before adding to their midfield. That outgoing is described as a non-negotiable precondition for any incoming business.
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA – JUNE 22: Manu Kone #6 of France and Youssef Amyn #7 of Iraq compete for the ball during the FIFA World Cup 2026 Group I match between France and Iraq at Philadelphia Stadium on June 22, 2026 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (Photo by Darrian Traynor/Getty Images)
Even with that resolved, two further steps would remain. A negotiation with Roma would have to begin from scratch, and Kone himself would need to open the door to a switch to Saudi Arabia, no small consideration for a France international who has been the subject of Premier League interest this summer.
Manchester United emerged as suitors earlier in the window, turning to the Frenchman after their agreed deal for Atalanta's Ederson collapsed, with Roma reportedly open to a sale at around €50 million as they look to balance the books under UEFA scrutiny.

Andy Halliday believes Rangers have the "perfect foils" for new striker Lawrence Shankland in Youssef Chermiti and Ryan Naderi.
Chermiti and Naderi often partnered each other in attack last season, with Shankland set to join up with Rangers' squad soon after having represented Scotland at the World Cup.
"In Youssef Chermiti and Ryan Naderi, I think it's two perfect foils for Lawrence Shankland," former Rangers midfielder Halliday told the BBC's Scottish Football Podcast.
"Two big athletic players with physical profiles who can do a bit more running than Lawrence Shankland probably can.
"And it allows Lawrence Shankland to stay in the penalty box and in between the goal frame where he's such a threat."

Olympique Lyonnais are in the market for a new forward this summer and, after showing interest in Hearts' Claudio Braga (26), the club have now turned their attention towards Glasgow Rangers' Youssef Chermiti (22), according to a report from Foot Mercato.
OL are without a talisman heading into the coming season. Endrick's loan from Real Madrid has expired, Rachid Ghezzal's contract has expired, and Roman Yaremchuk's loan move has not (yet) been made permanent.
There is a big hole to fill and Lyon believe that Chermiti can fill it. Following his €8m move from Everton last summer, the Portugal U21 international excelled in Scotland. In all competitions, he scored 15 goals and registered five ****** ists in 41 matches in all competitions.
Foot Mercato understands that there have already been talks between Lyon and Rangers regarding a transfer for the striker. The publication adds that a bid just shy of €20m, including bonuses, could be submitted by the Ligue 1 club.

Morocco reached the semi-finals of the tournament’s previous edition and remain one of Africa’s strongest sides. However, ahead of the opening fixture, Moroccan fans are left with plenty of questions. Mohamed Wahbi has only recently taken charge, and his decision to leave Youssef En-Nesyri – one of the national team’s key players in recent years – out of the squad came as a surprise. Ahead of the match against Brazil, such a change is particularly risky. The Canarinho are favourites, but Morocco are capable of springing surprises against top sides.
Brazil vs Morocco: W1 – 1.635*, Х – 3.94*, W2 – 6.1*.
