Celtic have been told to pay €9.5m to sign Farès Ghedjemis. The Algerian winger was name checked by Martin O'Neill last week as a potential summer arrival as he looks to strengthen his squad.
According to transfer journalist Sebastian Vidal, Celtic have been told to increase their offer for the winger by €2.5m.
Celtic are expected to return for Ghedjemis but Frosinone are sticking to their valuation of the player. In any case, Celtic are going to have to pay more than they've currently offered for the winger.
Celtic have added Camilo Duran and Kasper Høgh to bolster their attacking options with the frontmen replacing Daizen Maeda and Kelechi Iheanacho. It was clear after the win over Dundee that Celtic needed an injection of pace into the wide areas to freshen up the squad. Ghedjemis' performances in Serie B caught the attention of Celtic in January but no deal was forthcoming. Now, Celtic need to get deals over the line to make sure that they are in top form for the UCL doubleheader against LASK.

Anthony Smith has been released from Sarpy County Jail in Nebraska.
The former UFC light heavyweight ****** le challenger, who later transitioned to the role of ****** yst for UFC broadcasts, was arrested last Monday night (July 27, 2026) on felony charges of Attempted First Degree Domestic ****** ault, Terroristic Threats, and First Degree False Imprisonment.
Smith appeared before the judge on Wednesday morning and released on $500,000 bond.
That's according to a report from MMA Fighting, though Smith's arrest affidavit remains sealed. All we know at this stage is that "Lionheart" is facing serious allegations and will return to court at some point in the near future. Neither Smith nor UFC have issued a statement at the time of this writing.
Smith, who turned 38 just a few days back, retired from UFC in early 2025 but returned to action for Jorge Masvidal's Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA in April, securing a submission victory over fellow UFC export Chase Sherman. If convicted, Smith (39-22) could be facing up to 20 years in prison.

The Chargers are less than a week away from the start of training camp, and the anticipation is building.
While most starting jobs and roster spots appear to be locked in at positions like quarterback, running back and safety, there are still several key roles that remain unsettled.
Those battles will begin to take shape in the coming weeks. Heading into training camp, here are the four biggest postion groups still unclear.
The left guard position will be one of the more intriguing battles entering training camp. The players fighting for the starting spot are veterans Kayode Awosika, Trevor Penning and second-round pick Jake Slaughter. Slaughter enters his first training camp having only played center at Flordia. Awosika appears to have the upper hand, as he received most of the work with the first-team offense during the spring.
While Omarion Hampton is locked in as the featured starter, who will secure the primary change-of-pace duties is a competition in its own. Free-agent acquisition Keaton Mitchell brings explosive, home-run speed that fits the scheme perfectly, but he faces a strong challenge from Kimani Vidal, who proved his reliability with a productive 643-yard season last year.

Barcelona are not interested in a deal to sign ******* nal and Liverpool target Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Spanish champions have been linked with a move to sign Barcola in recent days, as the club seek an attacking addition. Barcelona have bid for Julian Alvarez, of Atletico Madrid, without success and remain keen to add another goalscorer to their ranks.
However, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Barcelona are not targeting Barcola. The La Liga side remain intent on signing Alvarez and are seeking an out-and-out number nine, following Robert Lewandowski’s exit.
Liverpool are leading the chase for the 23-year-old, though face a fight to convince PSG to sell. According to French journalist Sebastien Vidal, Liverpool are preparing to lodge an opening offer of around £85m.
Arsenal also admire Barcola, as Mikel Arteta seeks forward additions. The Gunners have completed the signing of Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge for £34m, but remain keen to sign another left-sided forward.

In a recent post on X, journalist Sebastien Vidal stated that Liverpool are stepping up their efforts to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola. It has been mentioned that the Reds are ready to make a £85m bid to convince the French club to part ways with their prized ******* et this summer.
Barcola enjoyed a productive campaign at PSG recently as he put in a handful of impressive performances for them in the final third. The 23-year-old found the back of the net 13 times and earned seven ******* ists in 49 matches for the French outfit last season in all competitions.
The France international is currently one of the most feared wingers in Ligue 1. Therefore, the Reds would do well to get a deal done for him later this year.
His current contract at the French club will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for Liverpool to sign him on the cheap in this transfer window.

It's been seven years since one of the most memorable knockouts in UFC history — and for now, the fastest.
In the featured fight on the main card at UFC 329, which took place July 6, 2019, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Jorge Masvidal put away Ben Askren in 5 seconds to set the new promotional standard for fastest finish.
Masvidal went straight to the center of the cage and launched a flying knee, and it was on the ******* on. Askren, a former champion with Bellator and ONE Championship, never had lost a fight until then, let alone been put away. He came in 19-0 after a win in his UFC debut over ex-welterweight champ Robbie Lawler earlier in 2019.
But after Askren was starched by Masvidal, he fought just once more in the UFC – a submission loss to Demian Maia – before he left the sport. He boxed Jake Paul in 2021, but was knocked out in the first round. Most notably, though, he had a medical emergency a year ago that left him in a coma for more than six weeks, but his miraculous recovery continues, and may even continue to include competition.
For Masvidal, the win was in the midst of a one-year superstar run that saw him finish Darren Till, Askren and Nate Diaz – the latter of which won him the inaugural BMF ******* le. But after that, he lost four straight in the UFC and is inactive in MMA. He's competed in boxing, grappling and has his own promotion.

More than half of football fans in Spain plan to watch the 2026 World Cup matches in a bar. That is the figure from a LaLiga study on football viewing habits, and it shows Spaniards are the Europeans most likely to follow tournaments away from home.
On the ground, however, the reality is more nuanced. Santi Vidal, owner of the bar El Cuadro in the Madrid neighbourhood of Carabanchel, is not expecting a stampede for the opening games: "People prefer to watch them at home. We are only expecting big crowds as La Roja progresses through the tournament," he told RTVE. For the first match, against Cape Verde, they have not made any special preparations.
Vidal points to the pandemic as a turning point: "Before coronavirus, a football night was absolute madness. After COVID-19, a lot of people prefer to take it easy and get together with friends at home."
A change in habits that the data themselves confirm: according to Numerator's Worldpanel consultancy, two out of every three fans will follow the World Cup from their living room, and will spend 6% more on food and drink to take home. The Glovo report goes further: it puts that preference for staying in at 80% of Spaniards, with pizza and burgers the most frequent orders during matches.
The industry ***** ociation, Hostelería de España, estimates that bars could increase their takings by between 25% and 30% on match days with favourable kick-off times. If Spain were to reach the final, the aggregate benefit for the sector could exceed €130m. Average spending per customer during the tournament is expected to rise by around 11%, with outlay estimated at between 13 and 18 euros per person per match.

Despite having a decent 2025 campaign as a fill-in for RB Omarion Hampton, a Kimani Vidal trade could be possible after the Los Angeles Chargers overhauled its offense and ground game. The team signed Keaton Mitchell to add some extra speed that would fit into the new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel’s new scheme. There’s a chance that Vidal could be the “odd man out” in this situation if this new offense works for Mitchell and Hampton this upcoming season. Although the future is still bright for the former sixth-round pick, he might not have a huge role after the 2026 season.
“Despite his contributions in the previous season, Vidal could drop to No. 3 on the depth chart if Mitchell flashes his pre-ACL-injury quickness,” Moe Moton of Bleacher Report said. “If Vidal falls out of favor in McDaniel’s offense, the Chargers may look to deal him to a team that needs to bolster its backfield committee.”
At the same time, **** ody should believe that the Chargers would trade Vidal. He’s proven that he can be reliable, and it would be hard to replace him after just two seasons in the league. Head Coach Jim Harbaugh joined the Chargers a few years ago and selected the RB for the sole reason of winning football games with a strong run game.
However, that could change when McDaniel takes the lead. Vidal shouldn’t have any worries, though, since Mitchell hasn’t proved that he can stay healthy. The same can be said about Hampton, who started just nine games last year. Unless a miracle and a breakout season come from Hampton and Mitchell at the same time, they shouldn’t move the former 2024 draft selection.
Although no one should rule out the fact that he could get pricey come contract negotiations, the Chargers won’t have to worry about that anytime soon, but the team has been reluctant to sign superstars to at least boost their pass-attack and defense. One can argue that the team could be the same way with their RB. They still believe in Hampton, and if Mitchell has a decent season, they could use Vidal as a trade chip at the right price.
