Osnabrück fans may have been saddened by their team's elimination from the German Cup this Wednesday (2) against Bayern Munich.
But they deserve applause for the mosaic displayed in one of the stands before kickoff.
The supporters put together a representation of a roller coaster, complete with a cart moving along the tracks.
"VfL Osnabrück shoots off like a roller coaster!" read the main phrase on the mosaic.

The mood in the Bayern camp was a positive one following the result, with Harry Kane and Tom Bischof both praising their side's performance. Head coach Vincent Kompany echoed those sentiments after the final whistle.
As was the case in recent Bundesliga victories over VfB Stuttgart and Borussia Dortmund, Bayern once again failed to keep a clean sheet. However, Kompany was largely satisfied with what he saw from his team in Osnabrück.
Speaking to ARD after the game, the Belgian said:
"Yes, it went well, but the first goal was insane. The way the goal was scored, that was just incredible. It really created a great atmosphere, especially in the first ten minutes. But we stayed calm. And above all, we played a solid second half. We knew beforehand that it wouldn't be easy."
Kompany was reluctant to place the blame for the goal solely on his central defenders, instead praising Osnabrück for the quality of their play in the challenge.

Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has heard the theories that the squad could use a "goalkeeper by competition" strategy, but the boss does not want anyone to think that will be the case for his team during the 2026/27 season.
Against VfL Osnabrück on Wednesday, Kompany will start Jonas Urbig.
"I dismiss the idea of having a dedicated cup or Champions League goalkeeper. We're looking at the fixture list; it's about seeing what's best – also for Manuel Neuer and giving Jonas a chance to shine. I did that once in my first year as head coach, and it was a mistake," said Kompany (as captured by iMiaSanMia). "Jonas Urbig will start in goal tomorrow. Over the course of the season, it will be the same as last term. We've already put an incredible amount of trust in Jonas. He's played in many important matches, such as the cup final. These are milestones that show he can perform in big games."
For the betterment of the squad — and also the health of Neuer and the development of Urbig — Kompany will manage the workload balance as he sees fit and base it on how he ****** ses each player, not on what competition a game is in.
That, indeed, sounds like a plan.

Anyone currently watching the Friday night 2. Bundesliga conference will likely have noticed the banknotes unusually flying through the air on one of the pitches and at times lying on the green grass.
They were thrown by VfL Bochum fans. The target of the protest and the chants of "Football must be affordable": their own club.
The fans wanted to express their displeasure that their club had imposed a marquee-match surcharge for today's game against promoted side Osnabrück.
In addition to the chants and the duplicate banknotes, a banner could be seen reading, "€10 surcharge?! What fan can still afford this game?"
While a standing ticket for this game cost 19 euros, tickets in other sections of the stadium were available for almost 50 euros — thanks in part to the marquee-match surcharge, and that against a newly promoted team.

Heidenheim started their 2. Bundesliga campaign with a 4-3 win over Osnabrück. Frank Schmidt's side led 3-2 at the end of the first-half after Osnabrück cancelled out their first two strikes.
New signing Marcel Costly ******* isted Budu Zivzivadze's opener in the tenth minute. The Georgian striker started the season with the form he had at the closing stage of their Bundesliga campaign as his second goal was nullified for an offside.
The 3. Liga champions then leveled the score from a set-piece opportunity in the midpoint of the first-half. Center-back Niklas Wiemann headed home after Konrad Faber's initial delivery from a corner-kick parried away by Heidenheim's defense.
It was the turn of Osnabrück to fail to clear their lines when Costly restored Heidenheim's lead five minutes later. Another five minutes later, Faber produced his second ******* ist of the game when David Kopacz caught everyone by surprise with a stunning strike from outside the box.
However, the newcomers were behind once again as Jonas Föhrenbach's corner-kick was converted by Jan Schöppner in the injury-time of the first-half. The next goal also came from another corner-kick, but it didn't arrive until the 89th minute.

FC Bayern will play a friendly against 1. FC Heidenheim four days before facing Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup. The plan was discussed for some time, but it was only announced by the clubs this Wednesday as it'll be played after Heidenheim's first two 2. Bundesliga fixtures.
Voith-Arena, where Bayern were on the receiving end of a 3-2 defeat in their first-ever visit before winning 4-0 in the last two seasons, will host the game. Frank Schmidt's side will entertain newly-promoted VfL Osnabrück in the same stadium on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Bayern traveled to Hong Kong for the second part of their Asian tour after their 2-1 victory over Jeju SK in South Korea on Tuesday. Vincent Kompany's men will play against Europa League winners Aston Villa on Friday. They will then host RB Leipzig at home before closing their preparations with the game against last season's 17th-placed Bundesliga side.

Osnabrück recently won the third division.
The draw on Saturday was held at the German Football Museum in Dortmund and carried out by retiring top referee Deniz Aytekin. Borussia Dortmund will travel to fifth tier HEBC Hamburg also on September 1 or 2.
Dortmund, second in the Bundesliga in the season just finished, host double winners Bayern Munich in the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup on August 22 - the weekend when the rest of the German first-round games are taking place.
VfB Stuttgart, beaten in the Cup final by Bayern last month and 2025 winners, face a trip to third division Hansa Rostock.
