Andre Iguodala's 2015 Finals MVP trophy has once again become a topic of conversation, this time due to a comment made by Tracy McGrady.
"The MVP of the regular season has more weight than a championship," said McGrady on Cousins with Vince Carter & Tracy McGrady podcast.
This comment was not taken lightly by Iman Shumpert, who has an NBA championship to his name, winning it with the Cleveland Cavaliers as part of their 2016 team.
Shumpert was also part of the Cavaliers team that went to the NBA Finals in 2015.
It was there that Iguodala showed the world his brilliance and brought the Golden State Warriors back from 2-1 down to win the championship.

Bob Myers, the executive given the most credit for Golden State's four NBA championships from the 2014-15 season to the 2021-22 season, recently took the time to join NBA Hall of Famers Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter on their podcast. Throughout the duration of the episode, Myers revealed many stories throughout his career, discussing what factors led to him leaving the team, what he misses most about the role and the toughest decision he had to make when in charge.
Additionally, Myers shared a story about a veteran player that urged him to keep the roster in tact prior to their eventual dynasty. After winning 51 games during the 2013-14 campaign and losing to the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 7 of the first round of the Western Conference Playoffs, Myers revealed that he received a call from one of the team's most influential veterans, saying, "Jermaine calls me three days after we lost, and I'm thinking he's going to tell me he's retired and whatever. He goes, 'Hey man, listen to me; do not break this team up.' And I was kind of like, what's so great about this team? We just lost in the first round. And he goes, 'I've been in a lot of locker rooms at the end of a season, and this team knows how to lose.' He said it bothered them the right amount."
While O'Neal, a six-time All-Star in his own right, would retire following an 18-year career after that season, the Warriors would begin a historic dynasty the very next year in the 2014-15 campaign.

The summer of 2026 has been a big one for the NBA. Besides major trades and ownership drama, we've seen several players call it a career, including Russell Westbrook and Kyle Lowry. Of course, there's also point guard legend Chris Paul, who retired back in February after being released by the Clippers.
In the case of Paul and Westbrook specifically, their NBA stories may be over now, but the fun is only just getting started. According to NBA veteran Matt Barnes, the former superstars are planning to link up for an epic vacation, where they will bring their wives to honor their storied careers.
"I just talked to CP two days ago," said Matt Barnes on 'All the Smoke.' "He and [Russell Westbrook] are going on vacation. They're taking their wives on vacation. So, two of the greatest PGs are going to kick it up in the sand, have some drinks, and really just celebrate because this is the end of Russ and CP's careers. **** of a run, bro. One of the most feared point guards we've ever seen. I remember him in his heyday with the Lob City team; he was a monster."
It's never easy for an athlete to walk away from their favorite sport, but it's a moment that comes for every player. What comes next varies from person to person, but it really depends on how involved they want to be with the game. While some ex-players (like Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter) opt for media roles, others (like Jason Kidd) accept a coaching job. There are also those like Tim Duncan, who stay out of the limelight entirely.
We don't yet know which category Russ and Paul will fall into, but it's likely they need this vacation after the way they ended things. For Chris, his final stint with the Clippers was supposed to be a final send-off for his career, but things turned ugly when they struggled to win games. As much as he tried to right the ship, Paul alienated himself from the organization by overestimating his authority and making the wrong impression in the locker room.

Before joining the Philadelphia 76ers, Jaylen Brown tried to become a leader. Brown was the No. 1 option for the Boston Celtics during the 2025-26 NBA season, as his former co-star Jayson Tatum recovered from an Achilles tear. It was the first time that the star forward became the main offensive option, and he proved that he can lead a playoff team.
Brown led the Celtics to the No. 2 spot in the Eastern Conference with a 56-26 record. Unfortunately for Boston, they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the 76ers after seven games.
His strong outing last season was one of the main reasons why Philly pursued the blockbuster trade this summer. Bob Myers, the president of sports for Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, the parent company that owns the 76ers, believes that Brown can be the team's leader moving forward.

Myers appeared on Wednesday's episode of "Cousins with Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady." He talked about pushing Jaylen Brown to **** ume a leadership position for Philadelphia.

After Russell Westbrook announced his NBA retirement, the entire sports world remembered one of the most epic careers in recent history. Even though he walked away ringless, the NBA superstar was one of the era-defining figures in the 2010s.
When you think of that decade, you think of Westbrook. Alongside Kevin Durant, he co-starred on a constant **** le contender. The Oklahoma City Thunder were frequently one of the main characters. The all-time triple-double leader was a one-time MVP winner and a perennial All-NBA member. He completely lit up the box score.
NBA legends — past and present — have spent the last two weeks commemorating Westbrook's mythical run. He's a future Hall-of-Famer and part of a pantheon of basketball gods. Someone else he shares company with in that regard? Tracy McGrady.
McGrady already sits in the Hall of Fame. He's one of the more dynamic scorers of the 2000s. The seven-time All-Star might also be ringless, but the basketball universe fondly remembers his impact on the game. He recently went on his 'Cousins' podcast with Vince Carter to make a bold statement.
"20-20-20, bro? That's only been done twice. Like, I know Kobe had 81. Bam had 83. I seen Luka hit 70. I seen Donovan Mitchell hit 70. I seen Book hit 70," McGrady said. "But the 20-20-20 to me is probably the greatest individual performance that I've seen out of a player from Westbrook."

DALLAS — By Thursday afternoon, the get-in ticket price at the American Airlines Center hovered around $80. The cost to view the fourth-ever WNBA matchup between Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark from the upper deck — less than a week after the scintillating third meeting in Indianapolis — was not overly prohibitive.
The show had different stars and a different result this time. The Dallas Wings notched maybe their most-needed win of the season with a 91-85 victory over the Indiana Fever, at last finding some equilibrium after losing Azzi Fudd to season-ending knee surgery and sliding into eighth place in the WNBA standings. It also ended the Fever's five-game winning streak and prevented them from clinching a playoff spot on their first try.
Those among the 20,297 seeking another Bueckers-Clark duel, after each scored 29 points in last Friday's meeting?
They instead got Arike Ogunbowale scoring 32 points and Jessica Shepard adding 26 for Dallas in her return to the lineup, while Indiana's Kelsey Mitchell carried a too-heavy load with 37 points — though she made history in doing so. Bueckers and Clark, meanwhile, missed a combined 22 of 31 shots from the field.
Still, even without those two playing captivating basketball, it appears the Wings and Fever under the same roof is becoming a must-attend rivalry. Among the notables on hand Thursday night: Mark Cuban, Dallas Mavericks star Cooper Flagg and NBA Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady. Even WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert made an appearance, chatting up Cuban between the third and fourth quarters.

Jaylen Brown is focused on settling into his new team, the Philadelphia 76ers, but the legacy he built with the Boston Celtics will not be forgotten.
His final season in Boston was the best of his career statistically, but he was heavily overlooked in the MVP race, which even Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady found surprising.
McGrady is triggered by the MVP voters, as Brown produced the best statistical season of his career last season and carried Boston while Jayson Tatum missed significant time. However, Brown ultimately finished sixth in MVP voting even after cementing himself as one of the NBA's elite two-way players.
Brown averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 ****** ists per game during the regular season. However, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander claimed the MVP award, Nikola Jokić finished as the runner-up, and Victor Wembanyama was among the finalists, leaving Brown out of serious MVP consideration.
McGrady said he was frustrated by the lack of recognition Brown received from MVP voters.

Tracy McGrady defends Jaylen Brown from the irrational hate he keeps receiving originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
In the 2025-26 season, the Boston Celtics were without Jayson Tatum for the majority of the season. Most people know him as the team's superstar, so his injury made Jaylen Brown have to step up and prove he belongs in the same category as his running mate.
He did just that, as he had a wonderful campaign in the 2025-26 season. Brown proved he belonged as a star player, averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 **** ists per game as the Celtics' number one option amid Tatum's absence.
Now that Brown is on the Philadelphia 76ers, he is on the same team as superstars like LeBron James and Joel Embiid. There will be some sacrifices made along the way for all the 76ers players, so an MVP might be out of the question for every individual there.
That is a bit disappointing for anyone who admired Brown's stardom in the 2025-26 season. However, he will likely settle for his role in a potential **** le challenger like the 76ers. Despite that wonderful campaign, there were still a lot of people discrediting Brown.

DAYTONA BEACH — Naismith Hall of Famer, Daytona Beach native and Mainland High School graduate Vince Carter played professional basketball for a long time. Like, a really long time.
Carter's 22-year career from 1998-2020 is the second-longest in the history of the NBA, having just been exceeded by LeBron James during the 2025-26 season.
The eight-time All-Star and dunk extraordinaire called it quits after the COVID-shortened 2020 season and transferred to another career he'd been building for years — sports broadcasting.
In 2025, Carter became a studio ****** yst for NBC alongside fellow All-Stars Carmelo Anthony and Tracy McGrady.
Broadcasting has been a natural second act for retired professional athletes because they tend to know a lot about the sport they dedicated their lives to. It was an avenue Carter had already been eyeing for his post-NBA life, only for it to get postponed with each season he returned.

The LeBron James free agency frenzy finally concluded on Friday.
The 41-year-old future Hall-of-Famer announced on social media that he is signing with the Philadelphia 76ers, where he'll join former MVP Joel Embiid and perennial All-Stars Tyrese Maxey and Jaylen Brown, who the team acquired from the Celtics earlier this month.
That forms a pretty strong core in the City of Brotherly Love, and former NBA star Vince Carter — a Hall of Famer in his own right — doesn't think the league is ready for it.
"That's cheating," Carter said of Philadelphia adding James on "Cousins with Vince Carter & Tracy McGrady. "That's cheating if he goes there, because he doesn't have to do much to still be him. Now, your fifth starter has to guard (one of the 76ers' other stars)."
Despite his age, James remains a productive player. In 60 regular-season appearances last season, he averaged 33.2 minutes along with 20.9 points, 7.2 ******* ists and 6.1 rebounds. Now, with a strong supporting cast around him, Carter is putting the league on notice.

Tracy McGrady: I only have two teams that he could go to. Vince Carter: The Cavs, I feel like and then, you know, probably Golden State. McGrady: Go back home. And those are those are my two teams. Go back home to the Cavs. Golden State to me, when I looked at Steve Kerr, who was on his way out, was about to retire. Carter: We talked about he did it for some some reason. There's something brewing. There's something brewing.

Now that the 2026 NBA playoffs are in the rearview mirror, I think we can safely crown the 2026 Western Conference Finals as the most epic series clash. Sure, the eventual NBA champion actually became the New York Knicks — despite being contrary to popular belief.
But the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs went the distance in a series that featured the NBA's top two teams all year. Both were 60-win juggernauts that blew teams out left and right. When they faced off, it was a meeting of NBA heavyweights — ala The Rock and John Cena at WrestleMania.
In a Feb. 2026 podcast clip with Dylan Harper that has recently gone viral, what he said on Vince Carter's and Tracy McGrady's 'Cousins' podcast aged like fine wine. Of course, the 20-year-old popped off in the NBA playoffs. He was arguably San Antonio's second-best player in their run to the NBA Finals.
Harper's old comments resurfaced as he pinpointed Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams as two of their toughest defensive ******* ignments. The Spurs took four of five over the Thunder in the regular season, but a lot of caveats filled those matchups thanks to injuries.
"Shai and Jalen Williams from OKC," Harper said. "When we first played them, we beat them. But I was like, 'Them two kinda hard to guard.'"

Tracy McGrady is bringing back a piece of basketball history.
The seven-time All-Star is reviving the legendary ABCD camp with Sonny Vaccaro, the sneaker executive and founder of the camp.
McGrady, who will own 80% of the camp, and Vaccaro, who will retain the rest, spoke to Front Office Sports about the revival in recent interviews.
“It was only because of Tracy McGrady that I’m doing this,” Vaccaro told FOS. “He had the most impact on what I did because he was probably the biggest underdog. He was so close to not being invited because of other people’s opinions of him.”
Vaccarro ran the camp with his wife, Pam, from 1984 to 2006 and helped coaches and NBA scouts first learn the names of dozens of future stars.

Prince William recently celebrated his 44th birthday with his loved ones. However, a source has revealed an embarrassing moment that once left the future monarch red-faced, thanks to his late mother, Princess Diana. The late princess did something mischievous on his 13th birthday that might've been too much for him.
Prince William celebrated his 44th birthday on Father's Day on June 21. And while his birthday celebration must have been planned thoughtfully by his wife, Kate Middleton, it's highly unlikely to resemble his 13th birthday. As per a source, his teen birthday left him "red-faced," thanks to Diana's cake design.
To mark William's 13th birthday, precisely 31 years ago, Diana played a mischievous prank by commissioning a rather risqué birthday cake. Rather than ordering a normal cake, the late princess asked for a **** cake for William. Former Buckingham Palace chef Darren McGrady revealed to **** o! magazine that when he came to work that morning, he opened the refrigerator door and was surprised to see the "biggest pair of **** " he had ever seen in his life.
"The Princess had ordered a **** cake for William's 13th birthday," revealed McGrady. "I wish I'd taken a photograph of it! I didn't know anything about it, I just thought, 'Oh my gosh.' I asked the butler, 'What on earth is this?' and he said the Princess had ordered it for William's birthday."
McGrady further revealed that the late princess loved to play pranks on people. "The Princess loved embarrassing people in the nicest way, in a fun way, whether it was telling a dirty, risqué joke – which usually got me. William just went bright-red," the former palace chef added.

Rick Adelman passed away on June 1, 2026, at the age of 79. No cause of death was publicly released. Within hours, tributes came pouring in from everywhere — the responses said a lot about the man, and even more about what he meant to the players who played for him.
For a coach who spent nearly three decades operating without fanfare, the outpouring felt right. He had always been better understood in retrospect. In Houston, that retrospect is worth sitting with.
Nobody quite expected the fit when the Houston Rockets parted with Jeff Van Gundy in May 2007, five days after the firing, and turned to Adelman. He was a cerebral basketball lifer who had spent the better part of two decades building things quietly in Portland, Sacramento, and Golden State.
The expectation was continuity. A steady hand on a roster that already had its stars in Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady. What followed was something stranger and more impressive than that.
Houston’s offense sputtered out of the gate, and the Rockets sat at 13-15 entering Christmas. Players later admitted it took time to adapt to the offensive system Adelman was installing.
