Bloomberg calculated Dodge's roughly 15,897 Berkshire (BRK-A, BRK-B) shares would have topped $2.7 billion by 2013 if the family held them.
Homer Dodge drove 1,500 miles to hand a 25-year-old Buffett $120,000 in 1956, and the stake grew to $2.1 million by 1970.
The Avenir Foundation received 2,000 Berkshire shares from Dodge's estate and grew from $1 million to $1.2 billion in endowment by late 2024.
Just released. Our ****** ysts combed the entire stock market and named the ten best stocks to buy right now, and Berkshire Hathaway didn't make the cut. Enter your email to see the names that beat BRK-B. The report is free. Enter your email and see if any of your stocks made the cut.

Not long ago, the idea of playing an NFL game on a Wednesday seemed completely foreign. Now, Wednesday has become an increasingly important day of the week on the NFL calendar.
The upcoming season will feature two Wednesday contests: A Super Bowl rematch between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots on NBC opening night, and a new "Thanksgiving Eve" game between the Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Rams on Netflix the day before Thanksgiving. Just a couple years ago, the NFL made some unprecedented scheduling tweaks to ensure it could air two games on Christmas Day, which fell on a Wednesday, when only a year prior the league suggested it wouldn't utilize the holiday if it fell on Wednesday.
The willingness to schedule games on days of the week that it had not previously considered viable is part and parcel with the league's ambition to add more standalone window national games. But don't expect the league to roll out a weekly "Wednesday Night Football" package anytime soon.
When asked about the NFL's utilization of Wednesday during a conference call this week, the league's top media executive Hans Schroeder indicated Wednesday will still be used sparingly.
"I don't know if we're looking at Wednesday night football as a night for regularly scheduled NFL game," Schroeder said. "I do think if you look at the growth of Thanksgiving specifically, and that holiday, and how core football, and food, and family, and bringing all that together, that the growth of Thanksgiving over the last handful of years has just been tremendous."

Stassi Schroeder discussed the negative comments she received after walking in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Show. The 38-year-old said critics compared her to SpongeBob SquarePants, and she admitted that she felt their remarks were "not wrong." However, the comparisons left her feeling insecure.
The House of Stassi star opened up to Page Six Radio on July 28 about what it was like to walk the runway. She told co-hosts Danny Murphy and Evan Real, as quoted by Page Six, "The first year was really amazing. The second year, the trolls got to me."
Schroeder said online critics mocked her "rectangle" body shape and compared her to SpongeBob SquarePants. She said the comments made her wonder if she wanted to model in the magazine's annual fashion show for a third consecutive year.
The Vanderpump Rules alum made her first appearance at the SI Swimsuit show in 2025. She walked the runway again in May with Alix Earle, Tiffany Haddish, and Bethenny Frankel at Miami Swim Week. Although the criticism left her feeling "a little insecure," Schroeder said she still enjoyed the event. "I love doing it, I feel so ****** empowered, the girls are so nice. The atmosphere, the energy, it's such a girl power vibe, and everyone's there just lifting each other up. So, I really love doing it."
Schroeder previously faced public backlash in 2020 when Bravo fired her and longtime co-star Kristen Doute from Vanderpump Rules. The decision followed the resurfacing of their past racist actions toward a former cast member.

July 21 (Reuters) - A top Democratic U.S. senator on Tuesday urged banks and trading firms to shun a new product offering early access to posts on President Donald Trump's Truth Social platform, warning it creates a "very troubling form of information asymmetry" for government policies, while Wall Street banks showed little interest in the product.
Earlier this month, TMTG unveiled a paid, licensed data feed that will give banks and trading firms "the fastest" access to posts from influential Truth Social accounts, including Trump's, whose posts often move global markets.
One source at a large bank said the institution was not considering acquiring the API, and if it did, a review of political risk would be needed. The person, asking for anonymity to discuss a sensitive issue, said access to the president's Truth Social posts would create a different risk than buying faster access to market or trading data, because it would mean paying for access to a government official discussing policy.
A second source familiar with the matter at another major bank said the bank was not currently considering subscribing.

The Charlotte Hornets have been linked with interest in Schroder, league sources told HoopsHype. It's worth noting that Hornets executive Jeff Peterson is said to still be a fan of Schroder dating back to their time together in Atlanta.

Since Cleveland's season ended in a Game 4 loss to the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference finals, sources say the team has had discussions about the possibility of trading Max Strus and Dennis Schroder. Strus is set to make $16.6 million in the final year of his contract. Schroder is still owed nearly $31 million over the next two seasons. Those moves would help Cleveland's salary cap situation. If the Cavs get below the punitive aprons, they could also theoretically orchestrate a sign-and-trade for James. — 6/30/2026 Cleveland Plain Dealer

We're back with another edition of our trade machine rankings series, in which we rank the 10 players who have most often been plugged into our trade machine in the last week, indicating a high level of interest from fans of those teams in seeing said player get traded, either to or from the squads they root for.
With 10 players to discuss, let’s jump right into the action.
Share: 3.4 percent of trades on our trade machine
Veteran guard Dennis Schroeder has been one of the more popular chips on our trade machine lately, showing up in deals with other players on this list. Seven percent of those trades send Jrue Holiday to Cleveland, a simple move for Cavs fans looking to improve their backcourt defense.
Meanwhile, 6 percent of his trade-machine appearances send Anthony Davis to Cleveland instead, making Schroeder one of two names on this list (Jimmy Butler is the other) that readers keep using to chase Davis, even though it appears he won't be dealt this summer, according to reports.

WASHINGTON, July 10 (Reuters) - Stocks climbed and oil prices slipped somewhat as investors retained AI-related enthusiasm and shrugged off the ongoing dispute between the U.S. and Iran.
All three major U.S. indices ended the day higher Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 0.29%, the S&P 500 climbing 0.42%, and the Nasdaq Composite gaining 0.29%.
MSCI's gauge of stocks across the globe was last up 0.4%.
While the renewed back-and-forth attacks have further eroded the fragile three-week-old U.S.-Iran ceasefire, markets have mostly taken developments in the Middle East in their stride, although investors continue to eye oil prices and the potential for ensuing inflation.

WASHINGTON, July 9 (Reuters) - Wall Street surged on Thursday while oil prices retreated, as investors rekindled their enthusiasm for technology shares, shaking off worries about renewed military action in the Middle East.
All three major U.S. indices ended the day higher, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbing 0.27%, the S&P 500 rising 0.81% and the Nasdaq Composite jumping 1.3%.
The MSCI gauge of stocks across the globe was up 0.72%.
Stocks rose despite renewed conflict in the Middle East, with the U.S. and Iran both announcing military strikes in the Gulf as their tenuous interim peace deal frayed. Oil prices, which jumped when U.S. strikes were announced on Wednesday, retreated on Thursday even though shipping activity through the critical Strait of Hormuz has once again ebbed.

WASHINGTON, June 24 (Reuters) - The U.S. Federal Reserve said on Wednesday that 32 of the nation's largest banks are well-positioned to weather a severe economic downturn and continue lending, as firms could absorb over $700 billion in hypothetical losses and remain above minimum capital requirements.
The results of the central bank's annual "stress test" found large banks' capital levels fell by 1.6 percentage points but remained above the minimum requirements, even after weathering a hypothetical global recession in which real estate prices drop by one-third, unemployment spikes to 10%, and financial markets are in turmoil.
"Today's results underscore the strength of the banking system," said Fed Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman in a statement.
Several banks said after the stress-test results they were raising their dividends.

WASHINGTON, June 24 (Reuters) - Financial markets will gain a fresh glimpse into the overall health of the largest U.S. banks on Wednesday when the Federal Reserve releases the results of its latest stress test.
The results will reflect the health of 32 banks, including JPMorgan and Bank of America, but will likely be less dramatic than in prior years. The Fed said in February it would not use this year's results to update each firm's stress capital buffer, an added layer of capital large firms must hold that fluctuates based on how well they perform on the test.
With those buffers now holding steady, firms already have the information they need to make capital plans, including any potential stock buybacks or dividend changes. Raymond James ***** ysts said in a note ahead of the results that they expect most banks to announce moderate dividend and stock buyback plans following the tests, noting that bank executives may opt for a more cautious approach given broader uncertainties.
"Despite the accommodative regulatory backdrop, we believe some management teams could be somewhat conservative given the aforementioned geopolitical/macro uncertainty and inflationary pressures," they wrote.

Detroit general manager Manon Rhéaume wasted little time in beginning to stock her PWHL expansion team by signing four players Friday — including forward Daryl Watts landing the league’s first four-year contract.
Meantime, Charge captain Brianne Jenner is leaving Ottawa after three seasons by signing a three-year standard agreement with the new team in Hamilton, Ontario. The 35-year-old Jenner's departure was anticipated as the four-time Canadian Olympian moves closer to her hometown of Oakville. Hamilton also signed New York goalie Kayle Osborne to three-year standard agreement.
The moves came on the first day of the league’s three-day expansion signing process in which each of the four new teams can sign five players.
With San Jose signing Seattle goalie Corinne Schroeder to a two-year standard agreement, Las Vegas remains the only expansion team to have yet to add a player.
Watts’ addition in Detroit was particularly notable in landing what’s called an Expansion Foundational Offer, guaranteeing her an annual salary of no less than $100,000. Under league rules, Watts chose the maximum term of four years, which the PWHL introduced as part of this year's expansion process.
