Sophomore Ty Redmond enters his second season at Tennessee in 2026.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound defensive back appeared in 13 games, including 12 starts, for the Vols as a freshman in 2026. He recorded 43 tackles, one tackle for a loss, three interceptions and 15 pass deflections.
The second-year cornerback is the SEC's leading returning defender in passes defended (15) and pass breakups (12).
Redmond was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week on Nov. 17, 2025 after playing 47 snaps against New Mexico State. He recorded five tackles, one pass breakup and one interception in the Vols', 42-9, homecoming victory.
Redmond was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team (coaches), All-SEC Third Team (coaches) and Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2025.

Last season, the Minnesota Vikings clawed their way to a 9-8 record, winning their last five games in a row. While the offense struggled, the defensive side of the ball played very well, finishing third in total defense. This was spearheaded by a few unsung heroes who are looking to have an even bigger impact in 2026.
According to Zachary Pereles of CBS Sports, defensive tackle Jalen Redmond is in line for a big season, as Pereles listed him as an under-the-radar player entering 2026. Here is what he had to say:
Last year, the Vikings brought in bigger names -- Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave -- only for Redmond, a former undrafted free agent who spent time in the XFL, to outplay both of them by a wide margin. He racked up six sacks and finished 11th in PFF's run defense grades among interior defensive linemen. His disruptive abilities against both the run and the pass are impressive.
Redmond was a pleasant surprise last season, and with the departure of Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave, Redmond is in line for significantly more playing time alongside rookie Caleb Banks. Redmond is on a one-year deal, and should he play at the level of last season or even more, he could be due for quite the payday next offseason.

After a bit of a slow week news-wise, and a week where yours truly had a few things happening away from the interwebs, we’ve got the results of this week’s SB Nation Reacts poll about our Minnesota Vikings to share with you, so let’s get you those results here as promised.
For this week’s question, we asked you who you thought would lead the purple in quarterback sacks for this coming NFL season. We had several options, but when everybody had cast their votes, the final result was. . .well, I don’t think a whole lot of people are going to be surprised by this one.
Of those who responded to our poll, the overwhelming majority believe that it’s going to be Dallas Turner’s year to take a big step forward, as 70% believe that he will lead the Vikings in sacks this season, as he did last year. Another 20% believe that Andrew Van Ginkel will take the sack crown this year. . .he did only finish one sack behind Turner last year, despite missing multiple games with a neck issue. The other 10% are divided between Jalen Redmond (3%), Eric Wilson (2%), and the nebulous “other,” who got the same percentage in the poll as Redmond and Wilson combined.
I think Turner is the easy choice here, too. The trade of Jonathan Greenard means that he’s finally going to get full-time snaps at the outside linebacker spot, and he showed last year that he’s finally starting to get things figured out in Brian Flores’ defense. He was sort of stuck behind Greenard and Van Ginkel as a rookie, and it was tough to justify taking either of those guys off the field for him to get more snaps that season. Now, however, with a couple of seasons under his belt and an opportunity waiting to be taken, it’s time for Turner to show why the Vikings gave up what they did in order to move up for him in the 2024 NFL Draft and start building the front seven around guys like him, Redmond, and (hopefully) Caleb Banks.

It is time, once again, for another one of our SB Nation Reacts surveys, where we ask the readers of the internet’s leading Minnesota Vikings community their opinion on a question concerning our favorite football team.
We’re getting ever closer to the start of this year’s training camp, and we’re wondering who is going to lead the team in some of the big statistical categories this year. We’re going to start on the defensive side of the ball with the sack totals. We’re wondering who you think is going to get to the quarterback the most frequently in 2026 for the purple.
The four names that we have listed were the top four players on the roster in that category last season. Dallas Turner led the way for the Vikings in 2025 with eight quarterback sacks, Andrew Van Ginkel was right behind him with seven (despite missing five games over the course of the season), Eric Wilson picked up 6.5 sacks, and Jalen Redmond burst onto the scene in his second season with the Vikings with six sacks. Will one of those guys lead the Vikings in that category this season, or is there a dark horse candidate that we’re not picking up on that will surprise us?

Utah’s gymnastics team is back in the gym after starting off the summer a bit differently. The Red Rocks traveled as a team to Ghana for a cultural exchange.
The trip came together thanks to several groups, including the Who Rocks the House Collective, Redmond Farms and the University of Utah’s Center for Business, Health and Prosperity, along with its partner Ensign Global University in Ghana.
“They’re so busy year-round, competing, being student-athletes that we wanted to give them time to be young adults away from the U., away from the pressures…and to enjoy Ghana, to experience Ghana, to have cross-cultural learning,” said Jon Murphy, director of student experiences and student programs for the U.’s enter who also works in Ghana with the partners.
Murphy and the partners were able to develop an exchange that provided a variety of experiences for the team, ranging from public health seminars, visits to ecotourism sites, service projects with local students, dance and art exchanges and travel to rural communities.
“It’s about creating these experiences to learn from the world outside of being a University of Utah student-athlete, and to have partners that can see the value in that is, I mean, it’s unmeasurable. It’s incredible” said Utah head coach Carly Dockendorf.

We’ve got the results of this week’s SB Nation Reacts poll concerning our Minnesota Vikings, so let’s take a look at what our readers had to say about our question about our favorite team.
We asked everyone what position, outside of quarterback, was their biggest concern as we get closer to the start of the 2026 NFL season. We had a variety of options to choose from, and after all of the votes were tallied, one position stood out above the rest.
Of those who responded to our poll, 29% said the center position was the one they were most concerned about going into training camp. Another 24% singled out the cornerback spot, while 19% stayed in the defensive backfield with the safety position. There were 14% of our readers who said the defensive line was their spot of greatest concern, while 10% are most worried about a position that was not among those listed among our primary choices. I believe I saw edge rusher among those that people were worried about in the comments section, and that’s one that makes some sense. . .I probably should have had that one among the choices.
Personally, I think I’d lean more towards the defensive line. I know that Jalen Redmond is a young up-and-comer up front for this team, but outside of that. . .yeah, there’s a lot of potential, and I did really like the Caleb Banks pick a lot more than a lot of people seemed to. But there are a lot of question marks among those young guys up front, and while Brian Flores has been known for getting a lot out of his players, he’s going to be asking a lot out of a group of players who, to this point, haven’t really done a whole lot at the NFL level. There’s still time to add some players that could chip in and add some things, but at this point the pickings are a little on the slim side.

The Vikings' selection of Caleb Banks is going to be debated for months until he steps on the field in a regular-season game. Given the injury concerns, folks will want to see how sustainable his play is, but, of course, they will hope for the best.
This past week, Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell gave a promising update on the former Florida Gator. Banks is coming back from a broken foot he suffered during Senior Bowl practices in January, but O'Connell believes that he will be back for training camp next month.
ESPN's Kevin Seifert shared the news from the presser on social media.
Banks is expected to compete for a prominent role on the Vikings' defensive line in 2026. The team released starters Javon Hargrave and Jonathan Allen and will need a tag team partner for Jalen Redmond. Together, Redmond and Banks could be the future of the line but first their top pick in April's draft needs to get healthy.
