The Yankees' offense better wake up, as they've scored just two unearned runs in their last 22 innings. Facing a Cubs team that ranks second in the majors with 5.17 runs scored per game and third with a 111 wRC+, they simply cannot afford to give so many ABs away, New York failing to dent home plate in 28 of their last 32 innings played. Fortunately, they'll face a pitching staff that is seventh-worst with a 4.68 FIP, though it's not like the White Sox were much better in that department and were still largely able to silence the Yankees in the final two games of their just-completed series.
Will Warren is coming off one of his worst starts of the season — six runs on six hits in three innings against the Phillies. It's already the fifth start in which he has given up at least five runs, four of those coming since June 20th, Warren posting a 6.57 ERA over his last eight starts after opening the season at 7-1 with a 3.22 ERA across his first 12 starts. To me, the problems appear to be threefold: he can't get lefties out, he struggles to pitch from the stretch, and he suffers a massive third-time-through penalty. That doesn't bode well against a Cubs lineup that features five batters from the left side and is second in baseball with a .340 OBP. In 20 starts, Warren is 7-5 with a 4.41 ERA (102 ERA+), 4.16 FIP, and 102 strikeouts in 102 innings.
The Cubs declined their three-year team option on Shota Imanaga over the winter after he struggled in 2025, the two sides eventually reuniting on the qualifying offer for 2026. He has rewarded that renewed faith with a rebound performance, gaining a mph back on his fastball which has seen his chase and strikeout rates tick back up to his stellar rookie campaign marks in 2024. The 32-year-old lefty relies on hitters getting themselves out rather than overwhelming you with stuff, the four-seamer acting as a setup pitch for his splitter and sweeper. The Yankees are getting him at an awful time as Imanaga is coming off consecutive scoreless starts of at least six innings. In 21 starts, Imanaga is 7-8 with a 3.72 ERA (109 ERA+), 4.39 FIP, and 113 strikeouts in 121 innings.
The Yankees opt for their usual lineup against lefties, but with a pair of notable changes. Jazz Chisholm Jr. is not in the lineup after exiting yesterday's loss in the 11th with cramps, which allows Spencer Jones a rare start against a lefty in right as José Caballero is forced to man second. Amed Rosario, Anthony Volpe, and Ali Sánchez will be tasked with carrying their weight with the supposed platoon advantage against the soft-tossing lefty.
The Cubs stack their lineup with lefties against Warren. Leading off is the MLB position player leader in fWAR (7.1) in Pete Crow-Armstrong, the All-World center fielder leading baseball with 21 Outs Above Average and sixth in wRC+ (152) as he makes a legitimate push to challenge Shohei Ohtani for the NL MVP. The MLB trade deadline coming next week could change the roles for some players across the leagues. Some might be thrust into more playing time, while others could land in more fantasy-friendly situations. As we wait for that to play out, we can still make some moves on the waiver wire to fortify our squads. Let's highlight five players to consider adding who are still available in the majority of Yahoo leagues.
Urena held the Astros in check during his last start, allowing one run over six innings. That marked his fourth straight outing in which he allowed one or no runs. He now has a 2.70 ERA that is backed by a 3.27 xERA. His 21.9% strikeout rate isn't great, but he limits damage by allowing only 0.6 HR/9. Not only is he worth adding for his start against the Marlins next week, but he could be someone to hold onto for the stretch run.
Holmes (lower leg) has been sidelined since the middle of May, but has already embarked on a rehab ******* ignment. On Tuesday, he threw 59 pitches in his latest outing. He appears to be nearing a return, but he might not be a member of the Mets when he does. The team figures to be sellers at the deadline and Holmes is certainly someone that a few contending teams would want on their roster. With his career 3.53 ERA and 3.66 xERA, he's someone to consider adding now before he is officially activated off the injured list.
Unlike Holmes, the Mets likely have plans to keep Scott in their starting rotation for years to come. He has pitched well of late, giving up one or no runs in three of his last four starts. He misses a lot of bats, recording a 28.8% strikeout rate for the season. Another positive is that he has limited opponents to just a 34.2% hard-hit rate. Scott is lined up to start against the Guardians and Pirates next week, making him one of the top streaming targets to consider.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Elly De La Cruz scored on fielder's choice in the ninth inning to lift the Cincinnati Reds to a 3-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday night in the opening game of a four-game series.
Cincinnati loaded the bases against Gregory Soto (5-3) with one out. Lowe grounded softly to second for a potential game-ending double play but beat the throw as De La Cruz scored easily. De La Cruz hit three doubles, stole two bases and had an RBI.
Emilio Pagan (3-1) got the win.
Pirates opener Yohan Ramírez pitched two scoreless innings allowing one hit with a walk and four strikeouts in his first career start after 208 relief appearances, the most by a Pirates pitcher before making a start.
The previous franchise mark was set by Michael Feliz who made his first start in 2019 after 156 relief appearances.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are hoping to snap their two-game losing streak as they take on the Cincinnati Reds in the first of a four-game set in Cincinnati.
The Pirates are doing something a bit unorthodox going into the matchup: handing the ball to Johan Ramirez for the first start of his career. Ramirez has appeared in 208 MLB games across seven seasons but has never been given the ball to start a game. This indicates that the Pirates are going to have a bullpen day today, which could be an interesting strategy going into a long series.
Today's game will mark the fourth time Ramirez has pitched against the Reds this season. He gave up no hits and no runs back in March, but gave up a run on May 2. He pitched two scoreless innings against the Reds on June 27. Look for him to go about two innings or so in tonight's contest before handing the ball off to someone else.
Rhett Lowder is getting the ball for the Reds. He last pitched on July 24 against the St. Louis Cardinals, pitching five innings, giving up a hit and two earned runs in a 4-2 victory. Lowder has not won a game since April 20, so he will look to snap out of the funk he's been in for most of the year.
Lowder pitched against the Pirates back on May 2, giving up five hits and eight earned runs in a 17-7 loss at PNC Park. If the Pirates can chase him out early once again, Pittsburgh should start the series off on the right foot.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Seiya Suzuki, Ian Happ and Nico ***** ner drove in two runs apiece and the Chicago Cubs jumped out to a seven-run lead after two innings on the way to a 10-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night.
Happ punctuated an 11-pitch at-bat with a two-run double to get the Cubs' scoring started. Pete Crow-Armstrong's sacrifice fly scored Michael Conforto and Suzuki added a double. Michael Busch and ***** ner added RBI singles to make it 7-0, chasing Cardinals starter Michael McGreevy.
McGreevy (4-9) lasted 1 2/3 innings and gave up eight hits and seven earned runs. He walked two and struck out two as the Cardinals lost their third straight game.
Alec Burleson walked and Lars Nootbaar and Masyn Winn singled as the Cardinals loaded the bases in the fourth. Burelson scored on a sacrifice fly by Nathan Church. Winn hit a ground-rule double that plated the Cardinals' second run of the game in the ninth.
Pedro Ramírez had an infield single that scored ***** ner in the fifth. Suzuki added an RBI single in the eighth, and Carson Kelly drove in a run with a single in the ninth as the Cubs banged out a total of 17 hits.

Trying to describe what happened when the St. Louis Cardinals played a baseball game against the Chicago Cubs Tuesday night is like trying to explain what it looked like when you see a dumpster on fire. It wasn't pretty, but it happened so let's begin.
The Chicago Cubs made St. Louis Cardinals starter Michael McGreevy look like a batting practice pitcher. It started out promising enough (for the first out, anyway) when Pete Crow-Armstrong struck out gloriously. From there, it was downhill at blazing speed. I'll keep this as brief as possible. Suzuki singled. Two batters later, Bregman hit a ground rule double then Ian Happ hit a double which made it 2-0 Cubs before most of the Busch Stadium crowd had even taken their seat.
The top of the 2nd inning was worse. So much worse. Conforto singled. Kelly walked. Two batters later, PCA hit a sacrifice fly then Suzuki doubled, Busch singled, Bregman singled, Happ walked, then Nico ******* ner singled to right. By the time the carnage was over, it was 7-0 Cubs. Even the all-you-can-eat Busch Stadium food deal isn't enough to redeem this type of experience. Michael McGreevy didn't even finish the 2nd inning. That was Gordon Graceffo's job and, to his credit, he kept the Cubs from piling on any more runs until he was replaced by Justin Bruihl in the top of the 5th inning.
The Cardinals would manage to scrounge around for a run in the bottom of the 4th inning when they loaded the bases with an Alec Burleson walk, a Nootbaar infield single, a Masyn Winn single and a Nathan Church sacrifice fly with the bases loaded slightly reducing the humiliation making it 7-1 Cubs.
The Cubs were determined to squash whatever faint hopes the Cardinals might have managed with that menial 1-run bottom of the 4th by grabbing another run in the top of the 5th inning when Nico ******* ner walked then stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch by Justin Bruihl and then scored on an infield single from Ramirez restoring the 7-run lead making it 8-1 Chicago. The Cubs added another run in the top of the 8th to make it 9-1 and another in the top of the 9th to make it 10-1, but who really cares? Oh, the Cardinals did add a run in the bottom of the 9th inning when Masyn Winn doubled in Lars Nootbaar who had walked to make the final score 10-2, but we still don't care.

Canelo Alvarez has suggested he will never box David Benavidez, saying “it’s not fair” that the Mexican-American fights in the weight classes he occupies.
Fans have long desired a showdown between Mexico’s Canelo, a former four-weight world champion, and Benavidez, a three-weight world champion, with many accusing Canelo of “ducking” the 29-year-old.
Canelo has held ***** les at super-welterweight, middleweight, super-middleweight, and even light-heavyweight, while Benavidez has held gold at super-middleweight, light-heavyweight and cruiserweight.
Benavidez was even the WBC mandatory challenger to Canelo at super-middleweight for more than two years, without obtaining a fight with the 36-year-old. Benavidez thus moved up to light-heavyweight and, most recently, cruiserweight, where he took the WBA and WBO belts from Gilberto Ramirez with a stoppage win in May.
But Canelo has said he does not care about suggestions that he has avoided Benavidez, telling journalist Ariel Helwani: “I’m not worried because I did everything. I did everything in boxing. NBC Sports Bay Area is losing another familiar face.
Carlos Ramirez revealed Sunday that he is leaving the regional sports network after four and a half years, making him the latest high-profile departure from the station in 2026.
“It’s hard to put into words what the past four and a half years meant to me,” Ramirez wrote in a post on X.
“I had the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream, working alongside some of the most talented people in sports media, and calling the Bay Area home.”
While Ramirez initially became a regular presence on the network’s San Francisco Giants pregame and postgame coverage, his role evolved in recent years as he took over as the primary host for the San Francisco 49ers’ studio programming.

After 10 years as an ******* istant coach under Candi Rogers at Dixon, the 1994 NCCHS graduate said the time was right.

Donovan Mitchell has done it again.
Mitchell backed up his affectionate words about the Cavaliers with actions, agreeing to a four-year, $273 million maximum contract extension on Tuesday, July 7. A league source confirmed the deal for the Beacon Journal.
A seven-time All-Star and three-time All-NBA guard, Mitchell could have forced the Cavs to wait for another year. He would have been eligible to sign an extension next summer worth an additional $80 million. It's possible the team could have balked in 2027, yet its partnership with Mitchell has been pristine through his first four seasons in Cleveland.
Save the contractual drama for other star players. It doesn't fit Mitchell. Guardians All-Star third baseman Jose Ramirez is the face of Cleveland sports, yet Mitchell continues to remind everyone he is the clear runner-up.
Mitchell proved what he has repeatedly insisted remains true: He has fully embraced Cleveland since the Cavs acquired him in September 2022 through a blockbuster trade with the Utah Jazz, and he is committed to continuing to serve as a cornerstone of the franchise.

Tennessee baseball added its potential starting shortstop through the transfer portal when Cal Baptist transfer Chris Ramirez announced his commitment to the Vols on July 6.
"See you at Rocky Top," Ramirez said in a post on X.
Ramirez had a standout sophomore year in 2026. He was named the WAC Player of the Year and one of five finalists for the Brooks Wallace Award, given annually to the best shortstop in the country. Ramirez was the only underclassman to be a finalist.
Ramirez hit .389 as a sophomore with a school-record 98 hits. He added seven home runs, 22 doubles and 42 RBIs with 21 stolen bases. In the field, the 5-foot-9, 170-pound Ramirez was named WAC Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season.

CLEVELAND -- Like many young kids in the area, Jose Ramirez is hitting off of a tee. But for the Guardians, it's a positive development as they await the return of their star third baseman.
Ramirez fractured the hamate bone in his left hand in mid-June and was expected to miss up to six weeks, putting his likely return into late July. When Ramirez went down with the injury, he was hitting .239 with a .757 OPS, 10 home runs, 18 doubles, 33 RBIs and a league-leading 24 stolen bases in 72 games.
"He's done some tee work and then at some point over the next couple days he'll progress to overhead BP," said president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti on July 5. "Jose's been doing a lot of baseball work."
When Ramirez sustained a similar injury in 2019 to his right wrist, he missed four weeks, though the Guardians are erring on the side of caution when it comes to his timeline to return.
"It's really individually specific," Antonetti said. "It's how well the recovery site heals, how much discomfort they have over the surgery site and when they can progress to activity. So far, Josey has met or exceeded all of those checkpoints along the way. So hopefully we'll be on the shorter side of that. But again, he still has a lot of activity and a lot of boxes to check between now and then."

Chase DeLauter, Jose Ramirez, and Angel Martinez were all injured during the same game against division rival Detroit Tigers.
DeLauter sustained a right rib cage fracture/bruise when colliding with the right field wall.
Ramirez broke his left hamate bone on a swing.

The Guardians will approach MLB's 2026 Trade Deadline with some interesting decisions to make.
With Jose Ramirez and Angel Martinez likely to still be on the IL as the deadline approaches, the Guardians will have to evaluate what their team is likely to be in need of when their best player as well as their current slugging leader make their returns. One would THINK that a team that is steadily in the bottom of all offensive categories except on-base percentage would still be in the market for some slugging, particularly from the right-handed side of the plate.
The number one place on the team where there is no clear internal option is for one more high leverage reliever, preferably one that bats left-handed. Of course, every team in MLB will be hoping to find a high leverage reliever and a right-handed power threat at the deadline. Will Cleveland be willing to do a little overpay to get one of these players? …It doesn't seem like the kind of thing they typically do… but I suppose the Lane Thomas deal kinda qualifies.
The trickiest category of potential acquisitions is a starting pitcher. The Guardians' rotation is strong. However, how likely is it that all five of them will make it through the season, because the depth behind them is practically non-existent. Personally, I'd be delighted if the Guardians shocked us and added another front of the rotation arm and showed willingness to let Cantillo or Cecconi become multi-inning weapons in the pen. But, I don't expect that kind of move, and admit it probably makes sense to focus your resources on improving the lineup and bullpen. So, I'm not going to spend time below focusing on the starters the Guardians could target. If they do, great. If anything, I'd see them doing a 2024 Matthew Boyd-type deal where they find a pitcher who is rehabbing they can take a flyer on. (But, they do also have Ben Lively somewhere who may fit that category).
I see the Guardians being willing to consider trading prospects for major league help, but I also suspect they will look to trade some of their own players even independent from acquiring help for now. I ***** ume, at this point, that they will trade Franco Aleman, who should be an ***** et in a deal for help now. Otherwise, I'm not sure why he wouldn't be with the major league team at this point. Bo Naylor probably gets moved for a comp pick at best, but more likely a lottery ticket-type prospect. I think they may deal Steven Kwan to a team who believes they can fix what ails him as a hitter, as many of his underlying skills remain. They're not going to get much for Kwan, though, so imagine him as more of a third-piece or a player they trade for a comp pick/lottery ticket, also.

The Eagles enter training camp with a defense that looks dramatically different from the one that finished last season, but the new structure may give Vic Fangio one of the most athletic and flexible groups in the NFC. Philadelphia is still built through the trenches with Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, and Moro Ojomo, but the strength of the roster could shift toward a loaded cornerback room led by Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, and Riq Woolen. The biggest questions are not about whether the Eagles have talent. They are about how quickly the new pieces settle, how the edge-rusher rotation forms, and who earns the safety and linebacker roles around the established core.
The defensive line begins with Carter, Davis, and Ojomo. Carter played through two badly injured shoulders last season and still became the Eagles' lone Pro Bowl starter, producing 33 tackles, 41 quarterback pressures, 11 quarterback hits, and three sacks in 12 games. Davis signed a three-year, $78 million deal and remains central to Philadelphia's run defense, while Ojomo enters the final year of his contract after seeing his snap count rise and finishing second on the team in sacks. Ty Robinson and Byron Young give the Eagles young rotational options, while Gabe Hall is trying to secure a depth role.
Edge rusher is one of the most important camp battles. Jonathan Greenard arrives as the projected top-of-the-rotation pass rusher, giving Fangio a veteran presence who can work off the interior disruption created by Carter and Davis. Jalyx Hunt and Nolan Smith remain major pieces of the plan, with Hunt coming off a season in which he led the team in sacks and interceptions, while Smith needs to turn pressure flashes into more consistent production after missing time in 2025. Arnold Ebiketie, A.J. Epenesa, Uar Bernard, Jose Ramirez, Ta'Quon Graham, Keyshawn James-Newby, and Joshua Weru will compete for rotational snaps and roster spots after Joe Tryon-Shoyinka's retirement removed one veteran from the room.
Linebacker remains led by Zack Baun, while Jihaad Campbell's shoulder recovery will shape the rest of the depth chart. Campbell's playing time was limited when Nakobe Dean returned last season, but Dean's departure creates a clearer path once Campbell is healthy. Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and Smael Mondon Jr. enter camp looking for breakout opportunities, while Chance Campbell, Deontae Lawson, and Chandler Martin are battling for depth and special teams roles.
Cornerback could be Philadelphia's best position group. Mitchell is already one of the league's top young outside corners, and DeJean's versatility allows Fangio to move him around the formation without weakening the secondary. Woolen's arrival on a one-year deal worth up to $15 million gives the Eagles rare size, speed, and ball production opposite Mitchell. Kelee Ringo and Jakorian Bennett can now compete from reserve roles instead of being forced into every-week starter responsibilities, while Jonathan Jones, Mac McWilliams,

This week’s list of two-start pitchers has three headliners but falls off quickly after that point. In fact, fantasy managers will may want to leave all of the additional options on waivers and instead focus on streaming the top one-start options.
On the hitting side, the Rockies have multiple players who should be added and streamed this week.
Griffin Jax, Rays, 41% (@ KC, @ HOU): Moving Jax to the rotation has been a tremendous success for the Rays, as the right-hander has posted a 2.40 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP across 11 starts. His ceiling is capped by his inability to work deep into games, but Jax still has proven his win potential by logging five innings in six of his past eight starts. The Royals and Astros have both been average against righties, and Kansas City has been one of baseball’s worst offenses on the road. The matchups are good enough to make Jax the top option in an shallow group.
Sean Burke, White Sox, 42% (@ BAL, @ CLE): After enduring some inconsistencies during May and the first half of June, Burke ironed out the rough spots when he allowed two runs over 13.2 innings while posting a 14:2 K:BB ratio in his past two starts. The 26-year-old has been effective overall this year (3.71 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 9.0 K/9 rate) and can be used in all formats for a week with reasonable matchups. The start against the Guardians is especially enticing, since the team has struggled against righties and is missing centerpiece José Ramírez.
Zebby Matthews, Twins, 16% (@ HOU, @ NYY): Matthews has endured two seven-run disasters while tossing a quality start in his other six appearances. The right-hander is ****** e to the long ball (1.8 HR/9 rate), which is the only blemish on an otherwise solid skill set. Matthews would normally be atop this list but facing the clubs that rank first (Yankees) and fourth (Astros) in home runs makes him riskier than usual.

Kahlo's iconicity "is not limited to a single image but is plural, resulting from the seemingly infinite number of competing icons that today comprise and perpetuate her myth," Ramírez writes, making the case that the myth entails much more than even the legends of Vincent van Gogh and Pablo Picasso. "The Frida phenomenon is unlike anything else in past or recent history. It is not limited to Kahlo's art-making but extends to all aspects of her social image, innermost character, as well as her attire."
As a "polyvalent" icon with a lifelong habit of narcissistic theatricality, Kahlo has been put in the service of causes ranging from Chicano identity to Mexican dignity, from socialism to feminism, from queerness to disability. Homer prevention has been the main problem for Matthews, both this season (1.7 HR/9 rate) and throughout his brief career. If he can survive a start against the high-scoring Dodgers at the outset of the week, he could thrive against a Rockies offense that typically struggles on the road.
Andre Pallante, Cardinals, 42% (vs. ARI, vs. MIA): Pallante has always ranked among the league leaders in groundball rate, and is showing some skill improvements this year by producing a career-best 19.3% strikeout rate. Because he gives up plenty of contact, the right-hander will always be a weak option in the WHIP category. But he has become a serviceable innings eater on a team that has played better than expected, which makes him a viable option in 12-team leagues for two home starts this week.
Anthony Kay, White Sox, 13% (vs. CLE, vs. KC): Although he struggled in a tough matchup at Yankee Stadium last time out (4 IP, 4 ER), Kay has produced respectable results (3.77 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 40:14 K:BB ratio) in nine starts since the calendar flipped to May. The southpaw finished six innings just twice this season, and the combination of a poor 7.0 K/9 ratio and inability to work deep into games gives him a low ceiling. That being said, he has favorable matchups this week, especially with the Guardians working without José Ramírez.
Mitch Keller, Pirates, 31% (vs. SEA, vs. CIN): Keller is having a disappointing season that includes his worst ERA since 2021 and worst WHIP since 2022. While the right-hander must take responsibility for a small drop in his strikeout rate, the biggest reason for his struggles is a 63.1% strand rate that is the second-worst mark among qualified pitchers. Keller won't make the cut in many leagues this week due to his bust potential, but with two starts at his pitcher-friendly home park, he is a better option than many will realize.

DENVER (AP) — Nick Gonzalez and Bryan Reynolds homered to help the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Colorado Rockies 8-6 on Sunday.
Gonzalez and Reynolds finished with two hits each to help Pittsburgh salvage the finale of the three-game series in what could have been a sweep. The Pirates lost the first two games despite having the tying and winning runs on second and third with one out in the ninth in both games.
Pittsburgh starter Jared Jones left the game after he was struck on the right elbow on a comebacker to end the third inning. The ball deflected to Gonzalez at third, who threw out TJ Rumfield. The Pirates announced initial tests on the elbow were negative.
Yohan Ramirez (5-2) took over in the fourth and tossed two scoreless innings.
The Rockies only hit through six innings was Tyler Freeman's infield single leading off the second inning. He later scored on a bases-loaded fielder's choice.

The Milwaukee Brewers have perhaps caught a break or two on the injury front this week, with Cleveland coming to town shortly after star José Ramírez was lost with a broken bone in his wrist and Atlanta losing star outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. to a hamstring injury before the Brewers pay a visit this weekend.
But Acuña's absence also opened the door for an old friend: Rowdy Tellez, whose contract was purchased by Atlanta. The former Milwaukee fan favorite has gone 0-for-3 in his first big-league games of 2026.
Tellez, 31, will likely serve in more of a pinch-hitting capacity, with Dominic Smith and Eli White getting more opportunities at designated hitter and in the outfield, respectively.
The Brewers will begin their series in Atlanta on Friday, June 19. Tellez, acquired midway through the 2021 season, spent 2022 and 2023 in Milwaukee, as well. He hit two home runs for the Brewers in the National League Division Series against his future team, the Braves.
Tellez signed as a minor-league free agent with the Braves days before the season began, and he's spent 2026 with the Class AAA Gwinnett Stripers. He has an .850 OPS in 207 plate appearances in the minors this year.

The Guardians could also search for offensive upgrades at the trade deadline. The Athletic's Jim Bowden wrote Thursday that the front office will also look to add at least one power bat.
"The Guardians ideally need another impact power bat with first base or designated hitter the most logical spots," Bowden wrote. "If the Astros decide to trade first baseman Christian Walker, Cleveland would be the perfect fit in a deal."

The Eagles lost a depth piece from their edge-rusher competition before training camp, placing former Buccaneers first-round pick Joe Tryon-Shoyinka on the reserve/retired list.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the move, which ends Tryon-Shoyinka’s brief stint with Philadelphia before he had a chance to compete for a role in Vic Fangio’s defensive front. The Eagles had added the former Tampa Bay pass rusher as a low-risk option in a crowded edge group, hoping his length, athletic traits, and experience could make him a useful rotational candidate.
Tryon-Shoyinka entered the NFL as the No. 32 overall pick in the 2021 draft, when the Buccaneers selected him out of Washington. His best path was always built around traits and upside, but his career never fully developed into the high-end pass-rushing role Tampa Bay envisioned. He had 15 sacks, 21 tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles over his first four NFL seasons before beginning a more unsettled stretch that included stops with Cleveland, Chicago, and Philadelphia.
For the Eagles, the transaction removes one more name from a position group already changing. Philadelphia traded for Jonathan Greenard during the draft and expects him to become a top-of-the-rotation edge rusher. The blast, his eighth of the season, gave New York an early 2-0 lead and continued a recent stretch of strong play from the veteran first baseman.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Tanner Bibee got his first win of the season in his 14th start, allowing three hits over eight innings to lead the Cleveland Guardians over the Texas Rangers 6-0 on Saturday.
A 27-year-old right-hander, Bibee (1-7) had been winless in a franchise-record 13 regular-season starts since beating Detroit last Sept. 24.
He needed 87 pitches to get through eight innings, striking out three and walking two. Bibee has receive one or zero runs of support in 10 previous starts this year.
Tim Herrin pitched a hitless ninth to finish Cleveland's third shutout, all on the road. Texas was blanked for the fifth time — and fourth in the Rangers' last 24 games.
