Sauimoana Purcell hammered 21 kills while Kealoha Lyons tallied eight kills and four blocks as No. 3-ranked Kamehameha swept No. 6 Mid-Pacific 25-19, 25-9, 25-22 on Wednesday night in the ILH regular-season volleyball opener for both teams.
Humidity was extreme in Honolulu at 82%, and felt closer to 90 in Kekuhaupio Gymnasium at Kamehameha. It didn't seem to affect the Warriors (15-5 overall), who had pinpoint setting by Alayah Wilson (24 **** ists) and Tiahna Aldeguer (17).
Ali Samia added six kills and one ace, while Faith Iokia chipped in five kills. Junior libero Mikela Arellano led a stellar back-row defensive effort while Kamehameha's defensive teamwork on the pin was consistent.
"Our right fronts coming in there, Faith, Ayva-Ray (Malepeai), Maddie (Madison-Rose Marsh), they're important for our defense," Kamehameha coach Chris Blake said. "Kealoha is doing a lot of great things for us in the front row and had a great service turn right there to help us at the end."
Their length and footwork allowed Kamehameha to neutralize the smaller Owls.

The last of the mainland-island matchups will be over by tonight.
Saint Louis plays at Sierra Canyon (Calif.) in a game that will close its two-game football journey. The Crusaders lost to IMG Academy, the No. 3-ranked team in the nation, 41-0 last week.
Voters in the Star-Advertiser Football 10 didn't seem to mind. Saint Louis (0-3) moved up a notch to No. 9 this week. Sierra Canyon (2-0) is another opponent in the national spotlight. The Trailblazers are ranked sixth in the country, and No. 5 in California (MaxPreps).
The menu is quite intriguing this weekend with a mix of league play and interleague pupus.
On Friday, Keaau plays at 'Iolani and Kailua hosts Damien. OIA Division I action kicks off with No. 7 Waipahu at Nanakuli, while Moanalua entertains Farrington.

DAZN, 5:00 am ET Teremoana Teremoana vs DeAndre Savage
From Gold Coast, Australia. Teremoana was a breakout from the 2024 Paris Olympics, arguably the 2nd best in the big boy division. Unfortunately, he caught a bad bracket and had to face professional Olympian Bakhodir Jalolov before the medal rounds. But, he earned himself enough attention to kickstart a pro career, and headlines the show in just his 12th professional outing. Savage is a 35 year old American with an 11-1 (11 KO) record, and much will be said about that in the commentary buildup to the main event. But, he's fought most of his career in Colombia and Mexico, and his two fights in the USA resulted in a no contest and his only pro loss. Michael Zerafa appears in support here against BoxRec's 194th ranked middleweight, Alejandro Ortiz. Teremoana is very exciting… But, a 5 am Wednesday start for a relatively unknown prospect isn't exactly a live coverage gold mine. So, this will be a follow along thread in The Feed!, and I'd expect at least one or two of the staffers here to jump in for the main event.
From Johnson City, Tennessee. It's the greatest event in the boxing-adjacent business, and arguably one of the greatest sporting shows of any kind in modern America. If you're new to the Brawl, here's the recap of Brawl #13 . Dozens of amateur fights with three one-minute rounds, fast pace, lots of action and excitement, and an unconventional but delightful commentary team guiding you through it all. The main event here features Frankie LaPenna, a Michigan man who apparently got online famous doing videos while wearing a fake ****** , taking on brawl regular Sasquatch. Catfish Cooley is out from commentary again, with Stalekracker, a former police officer who now cooks Cajun food online to promote his thriving spice business and has a vibe that can best be described as a hybrid of Guy Fieri and Dog the Bounty Hunter, subbing in as a guest. Many beloved favorites return, including Tennessee Cornbread, Lil' Smokey, Man Bear Pig vs Hook Hogan, Big Daddy T, and Lil' Terry fighting Lil' Fire after Fire knocked out Terry's brother Larry in 10 seconds in the last brawl. It's $22.99, and it's the best entertainment value you'll ever get.
ON THE UNDERCARD: Let's spotlight some exciting new names, shall we? How about The Intubator? Can House Arrest handle the Macho Man? Any interest in The Toothless ****** assin or Take-A-Shot Brandi? Wet Willie? One Leg Big Ed? Discount Destroyer? Mullet Trash? And, which will be the lady fight of the night? Throat Goat vs Big Thumper? Or 1st Class White Trash vs Trainwreck Tracy?
From Atlanta, Georgia, for Scott's WBC and WBA middleweight ****** les. Shields is the self proclaimed "GWOAT," ("Greatest Woman of All Time, presumably because Fran Drescher's lawyers are very protective of copyright) and effectively out of real challenges because of the talent gap between her and anyone near her size. Ash Magic (ashmagic) is a mentalist with millions of online followers, which he has built largely by performing mind-bending bits on famous people. His latest was Dwayne Johnson.
The bit was framed around wayfinding, a nod to Johnson's role in Moana. Ash had him tap a random point in the air, pick a set of coordinates, and hold the digits in his head. Then Ash said them out loud: 87127.
Johnson called for tequila.
Next, Ash asked him to picture a character from the Moana world. Johnson settled on Te Kā, the lava demon, and spelled it out mentally. Ash named it.
"Man, I need a drink," Johnson said.

Red carpet fashion is always a showcase of personal style, where bold risks can become unforgettable triumphs or occasional missteps. Recent premieres for The Invite and the live-action Moana offered plenty of standout looks, with celebrities embracing everything from elegant couture to contemporary tailoring. Together, these appearances highlighted how fashion continues to play a central role in promoting major film releases while allowing stars to express their individuality.
At the premiere of The Invite, Penélope Cruz brought timeless elegance to the red carpet in a custom pale blue Chanel gown. The soft color and refined silhouette created a fresh, sophisticated appearance that perfectly suited the occasion. Rashida Jones demonstrated that sharp tailoring can be just as glamorous as an evening dress, wearing a black double-breasted Chloé suit accented by a sailor-inspired lace collar. Meanwhile, Olivia Wilde embraced dramatic styling in a striking black Saint Laurent gown featuring a cropped twisted bodice, oversized sleeves, and vibrant emerald earrings that added a welcome burst of color.
The global press tour for the live-action Moana showcased an equally impressive range of fashion. In Shanghai, Dwayne Johnson made a confident statement in a white Dzojchen suit with a modern wrap jacket, completing the look with white-rimmed glasses and traditional Polynesian garlands that celebrated the film's cultural roots. Co-star Catherine Laga'aia embraced playful elegance during the daytime events in a lavender crop top and flowing skirt before changing into a dreamy Teresa Helbig couture gown for the evening premiere. Inspired by the beauty of water, the design featured delicate botanical details and a soft, flowing silhouette that echoed the spirit of Disney's Moana.
As the promotional tour continued to London, Johnson stayed true to his signature style with another crisp white ensemble, pairing an open-collar shirt with matching trousers and a floral garland. Laga'aia complemented the event with a coordinated LoveShackFancy outfit featuring floral embroidery and a tiered maxi skirt that captured a cheerful, youthful energy. Their consistent styling throughout the tour reinforced the vibrant and adventurous atmosphere surrounding the film.
Another memorable appearance came from Millie Bobby Brown, who wore a romantic custom Galia Lahav gown inspired by a costume featured in the movie. The flowing icy-blue dress included a pleated bodice, delicate bow detail, and elegant skirt, while understated accessories and soft styling allowed the design to remain the centerpiece. Standing beside her husband, Jake Bongiovi, Brown completed a polished and graceful look that perfectly reflected the fantasy-inspired charm of the film, proving once again that thoughtful fashion can become an extension of storytelling itself.

Lionel Gannon saw the ups and downs from inside the building.
Moanalua's 2026 campaign was lively, and even with solid success in preseason tournaments, there was no obvious reason to believe Na Menehune would shock the world.
The team grew stronger, turned errors into lessons and ended the OIA's state-championship drought. Gannon was more than the best player on the best team. He was unflappable, doing all the little things with excellence as Moanalua became the first non-ILH program to win a state ******* le since 1979.
The 6-foot-3 outside hitter's state-tournament numbers were efficient and crucial.

I'm not sure there are many actors in Hollywood who have gotten more positive comments about their appearance over the past few decades than Dwayne Johnson. From WWE superstar to action staple to the biggest name in Hollywood, The Rock won the ******* iest Man Alive crown back in 2016 and hasn't exactly gotten less attractive in the last decade. For the past several months, however, he's been getting a taste of how the rest of us live, as he's been the subject of cheeky jokes and zany one-liners thanks to his look in the upcoming Moana.
Johnson voiced Maui in Disney's Moana ten years ago and is returning for the live action version, which hits the movie release schedule later this week. Since the moment the first trailer dropped, however, fans have been making cracks about the big guy's wig. People aren't used to seeing The Rock with such luxurious and flowy hair, and there are many who think the production department could have chosen some locks that were a little less jarring. Maybe a little less Weird Al Yankovic?
Let the record show, however, that Johnson has taken it all in good spirits. He's seen the jokes online, and he's laughed along with quite a few of them. Here's what he told us during a recent interview we did on the Moana press day…
I haven't laughed that much in a long time to see everybody's reaction to the wig, and I get it. I'm known to look like this, and that's what people are used to. And then they see me all of a sudden with a big, beautiful wig on. And it was so jarring for people.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson revealed his favorite WWE finishing move (besides his own, of course).
When asked by Complex's Kylie Mar to name the finisher that his character Maui would use when taking on Te Kā in Moana, Johnson picked Seth Rollins' Stomp.
Johnson shared that he was on the receiving end of The Stomp at WrestleMania XL in 2024, when he and Roman Reigns teamed up against Rollins and Cody Rhodes. The Stomp occurs at the 46:35 mark in the video below.
When asked how it felt to take the finishing move, Johnson responded, "I am a glutton for punishment… there's some finishing moves I loved taking. His is so iconic…It was cool."

Rollins previously admitted to Julian Edelman on Games With Names that he stole the Stomp from former WWE Superstar Alex Shelley, who took the move from ****** anese wrestler Naomichi Marufuji.

Dwayne Johnson has spent enough time on press tours to know how to handle almost any question. He can talk about his upcoming projects, his major franchises, training, fatherhood, his family's wrestling history, major career lows and Disney songs without breaking a sweat. But, apparently, even The Rock can get caught off guard when a perfectly innocent swimming question takes a sharp left turn in his brain. Johnson just misinterpreted a question during a 2026 movie calendar press tour and, now, we know way too much about what he's into ***** ually.
In a video shared to Johnson's Instagram account from the Moana global tour, an interviewer asks him a simple question: "What's your stroke of choice?" Given the Moana connection, the host was clearly talking about swimming. He, however, heard something else entirely. You can watch the clip below.
Talk about hilarious timing. There is barely a pause before the Smashing Machine star answers with complete confidence, like he has been waiting his whole life for someone to ask this during a Disney press stop. He laughs and says:
Domination.

Catherine Laga'aia, Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson brought a touch of the Pacific to the launch of the Moana Experience at Potters Fields Park in London on Tuesday, celebrating Disney's latest immersive attraction against the backdrop of Tower Bridge.
As the new face of Moana, Catherine Laga'aia continues to find the sweet spot between honouring the film and expressing her own style.
Wearing a LoveShackFancy Vessia embroidered top with the coordinating Celesa embroidered mesh tiered maxi skirt, she looked as though she had stepped straight from a tropical island. The airy layers, delicate embroidery and soft ivory palette captured the spirit of Moana in a way that felt authentic rather than thematic.
Around her neck, Catherine wore a floral lei, a traditional Polynesian garland presented as a gesture of welcome, affection and celebration. More than simply a colourful accessory, it reinforced the cultural heritage at the heart of the film and made the moment feel even more meaningful.

Dwayne Johnson's views on being silent about politics are drawing criticism from the Hollywood industry. He earlier said that he would refrain from publicly endorsing and would keep politics to himself. He revealed what his experience of being vocal about politics has taught him while sharing his utmost dislike for this specific profession.
Dwayne Johnson received backlash over his staying out of politics from Hollywood peers, including Wil Wheaton and George Takei. The Star Trek: The Next Generation star took to Threads to slam Johnson. He wrote, "So disappointing to find out he is such a coward." On the other hand, Takei also took to the same platform to call him out by saying, "Silence is complicity."
This backlash comes amid a published interview from a few weeks ago by Esquire, where Johnson revealed how he approaches politics now. "What I have learned through experience is that I need to keep—need, not want—the main thing. And the main thing for me, the thing that in the morning I swing my legs out of bed and I run towards, is creating. It's art. It's storytelling. I've learned I'm going to keep my politics to myself," he said.
Johnson further revealed that there are moments when anyone can talk about anything. However, he approaches things differently; if he thinks something is wrong, he admits it. Whereas if the "Moana" actor feels he has a better understanding of a certain matter, he shares his outlook. "Politics is omnipresent and it's forever. I don't like it. I hate it at times. I hate the slinging. I hate all the bullshit that comes with it," he said, showcasing his dislike towards politics.
In 2024, Johnson revealed that he regretted endorsing Joe Biden earlier. Therefore, he remained mum during the 2024 elections, as he wanted to avoid the same mistake. He said, "The endorsement that I made years ago with Biden was one I thought was the best decision for me at that time… Am I going to do it again this year? That answer's no" (via The New York Post).

Jeremy McLean knows the nuts and bolts of Moanalua boys basketball.
The former ******* istant coach is the new head coach, Moanalua announced Thursday. McLean retired from the U.S. Navy after 23 years in 2023 and has since been an engineer at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. He has also been at the side of Brandon Dumlao, ******* isting the varsity squad and heading the JV program year-round. McLean, originally from North Carolina, was a strong recommendation by Dumlao, who departed for his alma mater, Kamehameha, in May.
"I feel great. I'm extremely blessed and appreciative of this opportunity to continue the work I've been doing," McLean said.
A young Moanalua squad had its moments of brilliance last season. It's a prime situation for McLean, as all underclassmen are expected to return. They've been running and training nonstop since the season ended in February. Among the returnees are juniors-to-be Isaiah Griffin, a bouncy 6-foot-3 junior; 6-1 guard Chase LeBaron, 5-10 guard Chazen Dabalos-Vereze and 5-10 guard Nichika Tsang. Fleet-footed senior-to-be Edisen Agoleppa adds more backcourt scoring punch.
McLean intends to make defense a tenacious focal point. Fullcourt pressure for 32 minutes.

Dwayne Johnson has always made it clear that Maui is more than just another role in an upcoming Disney film. The character is tied directly to his late grandfather, High Chief Peter Maivia, and he brought that connection back into focus while promoting the 2026 calendar release of the Moana live-action remake in Hawaii.
In a recent Instagram post, Johnson shared a tribute video dedicated to Maivia, talking about his grandfather alongside throwback clips of the wrestling legend in the ring. The post, see below, explained that the timing was deeply personal, because Maivia died in Hawaii 43 years ago this past weekend.
The video and caption gave fans a rare look at just how much of Maivia still lives on in the Smashing Machine star's work. They also served as a reminder that, for The Rock, Maui has never been just a Disney character but a way to honor someone who helped shape his life.
In the caption, the veteran WWE superstar wrote that the inspiration behind Maui was "my grandfather, High Chief Peter Maivia." He then reflected on the day Maivia died, writing that his grandfather began "his walk in the clouds" from Hawaii 43 years ago.
