Rivian Automotive, Inc. (NASDAQ:RIVN) Chief Financial Officer Claire McDonough is stepping down at the end of October to join GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE:GEV) in the same role, Reuters reported on August 27, just as Rivian ramps up production of its cheaper R2 SUV amid fragile U.S. EV demand.
McDonough will formally take the GE Vernova CFO seat on January 1, 2027, succeeding the retiring Ken Parks. Rivian said her exit is "not the result of any disagreement" and that she is relocating to the East Coast to be closer to family. McDonough joined Rivian in January 2021, led the company through its $13.7 billion IPO later that year, and helped structure its $5.8 billion Volkswagen Group joint venture. The Flying Biscuit Café has signed a franchise agreement with franchisee Keisha Carter to bring the Atlanta-born all-day breakfast and brunch brand to McDonough, Ga., and the surrounding Henry County market. The site and opening date will be announced separately.
Henry County is one of the fastest-growing counties in Georgia. Its population rose from 203,922 residents in 2010 to 240,712 in the 2020 census, and the U.S. Census Bureau estimated it at 264,922 in 2025. McDonough, the county seat and its largest city, sits along Interstate 75 about 30 miles southeast of downtown Atlanta. Carter, who lives in the market, said growth there has outpaced the area's sit-down breakfast and brunch options — the gap that drew her to it.
Carter brings nearly 10 years of experience in sales, business development, operations, client relations and team leadership, including roles at several Fortune 500 companies before moving into entrepreneurship. She holds an MBA in finance management and is a Six Sigma Black Belt, and currently leads a metro Atlanta real estate group where she oversees business operations, marketing, sales strategy, team development and client experience. She and her family have been Flying Biscuit regulars for years, and often talked about the south metro needing a location closer to home.
Carter will partner with Eric Gladmon, who will serve as the venture's main operating partner. Gladmon owns and operates an Atlanta salon that has been in business for more than 30 years, and brings that ownership and operations experience to the group.

Sean McDonough has called college football in some capacity since George H.W. Bush was in office. And after spending nearly four decades inside every major cathedral the country has to offer, he's come to the conclusion that Ole Miss is home to the worst broadcast booth in the sport.
"The booth is tiny," McDonough said in a recent appearance on The Brandon Walker College Football Show, explaining that Vaught-Hemingway Stadium's press box used to have more room before the athletic department reclaimed seats from it. "To the point where our stats guy has to be behind us, because it's not wide enough for myself, the spotter, Greg McElroy, Zach, our spotter, and me. There can't be a fourth person, because it's not wide enough."
Cramped quarters aren't even the worst of it. McDonough said the booth's angle relative to the field turns Ole Miss's frequent noon ET kickoffs into their own kind of miserable.
"You're a little to the left of the 50-yard line, but we have a lot of those noon Eastern starts there, which are 11 Central, and the sun is hitting you right in the face," he said. "I don't like to wear sunglasses on TV, because you look like you're doing a Hollywood shot, but you almost have to there when the game starts, because you're just getting blasted in the face. It's just a really uncomfortable place to do a game."
McDonough is entering his fourth straight season alongside McElroy on ESPN's No. 2 college football broadcast team,
with Katie George stepping in as their new sideline reporter in place of Molly McGrath, who moved to an NFL-focused role. That booth was voted No. 1 in Awful Announcing's 2025 college football announcer rankings, drawing the highest raw number of A grades of any crew in the poll, and McDonough was individually named the National Sportscaster of the Year.

Tennessee added transfer defensive back Monty Hunt on Tuesday, according to Pete Nakos of On3. He was in the NCAA transfer portal since January and gained a fifth year of eligibility.
"I will be entering my name in the transfer portal seeking my JUCO year back," Hunt announced on Jan. 2. "Thank you Tennessee Tech."
The 6-foot, 175-pound defensive back played at Tennessee Tech from 2024-25. He recorded 10 tackles and four pass break-ups in 12 games.
Hunt played at Palomar College before Tennessee Tech. He appeared in 19 games from 2022-23 and totaled 33 tackles, two tackles for a loss, one fumble recovery, one interception and eight pass break-ups.

The Portland Sea Dogs spent their Wednesday afternoon in Manchester all over the bases at Delta Dental Stadium.
Portland defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 15-4 after collecting 13 hits, including three home runs to go along with eight walks.
Sea Dogs leadoff hitter Tyler McDonough belted two home runs as part of his 3-for-5, five-RBI day. Will Turner had Portland's other homer.
Fellow Sea Dogs Matt Frazier (4-for-5, five RBIs), Ahbram Liendo (2-for-4, two runs scored, RBI) and Mason White (2-for-4, two runs scored, RBI) also had multi-hit games.
