It's not often that you find yourself crossing paths with royalty while going about your morning routine. But when it does happen, it's bound to come as a shock. That was certainly the case for digital creator Finlay Jacobs, who did a double take after an unexpected encounter with Princess Anne while running in Scotland earlier this month.
Sharing the moment with his social media followers, the Scottish influencer recounted the incredible story, explaining how the late Queen Elizabeth II's only daughter pulled up alongside him in her Land Rover.
"I just went past this house, and this Land Rover pulls up as I'm running by, and this lady gets out. She goes, 'Hello', and I was like 'Hi,'" Finlay recalled.

"I look again, and I'm like, it's Princess Anne, Princess Anne of Scotland, it's like, 'What the heck!'."

Britain's Josh Tarling finished third in the opening stage of the Vuelta a Espana - just eight days after his brother Finlay lost his life in a crash.
The 22-year-old Netcompany Ineos rider decided himself to take part in the three-week Grand Tour and was rewarded with a strong performance on a tight and technical course around the principality of Monaco.
Fin, 19, died in a high-speed collision with a van which had strayed on to the road during the eighth stage of the Volta a Portugal last Friday.
UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider Tadej Pogacar, the overwhelming favourite for overall victory, won the stage by just nine hundredths of a second from another Briton, Ethan Hayter of Soudal-Quick Step.
Tarling was just four seconds down on Pogacar.

The final two stages went ahead with the family's blessing, although Tarling's team NSN Development withdrew from the race.
Race leader Alexis Guerin was not challenged on the final day so the French rider secured the overall win while Oliveira prevailed in a sprint finish to claim the stage win.
"First I want to give my condolences to Fin's family, friends, team - everyone," said the UAE Team Emirates rider. "It's been a rough couple of days. I can imagine what they're suffering.

Zara Tindall was seen publicly for the first time since Wimbledon on Tuesday evening. The mother of three attended the opening festivities for the 2026 FEI World Championships at Allianz Park in Aachen, Germany, joining fellow royals Princess Amalia of the Netherlands and Queen Mary of Denmark.
Looking as resplendent as ever, the daughter of Princess Anne donned a sleek black jumpsuit by Frame. The sleeveless style featured a sash detail and wide lapels, and she added FINLAY 'Tavistock' sunglasses in 'Champagne.'

It was quite surprising to see the royal donning a black ensemble. Although it was expertly tailored in design and undoubtedly chic, the dark tone is synonymous with autumn and winter! This is somewhat of a rogue choice given the blistering hot temperatures the UK and Europe are experiencing right now.

Who is a Commanders defensive player that is struggling in training camp?
Mitch Tischler of the Monumental Sports Network was a guest on "BMitch & Finlay" on 106.7 The Fan on Monday afternoon and volunteered the name of safety Quan Martin. Martin was the 47th overall selection of the 2023 NFL Draft, Ron Rivera's last as Commanders head coach and head of all player personnel decisions.
Martin was not playing well, not tackling well in 2025, and began to see his time on the field decrease late in the season. To be the 47th pick in the NFL draft and not be a starter in your fourth season does not speak well for the team's drafting ability in the previous administration. Even more, might Martin not even make the team? Might Quan Martin's days be numbered in Ashburn?
"Jeremy Reaves has been on the field much more than Quan," expressed Tischler. "We saw Quan's role change last year as the season went on and maybe didn't necessarily fit his play style as much. I feel like we are seeing a little bit of tentativeness from Quan, early on in camp here."
Also to be considered is the fact that the Commanders have a new defensive coordinator, Daronte Jones. This means the Commanders are learning a new defensive scheme, philosophy and language. Of course, that is true of almost all of the defensive players, not only Martin. "Part of that is learning what Daronte Jones wants that safety position to do. I think Quan's a guy that I was hoping early in camp would solidify that fourth safety spot and not have to have the conversation, if Percy Butler is going to stick around or Robert McDaniel, one of those guys."

Dundee boss Steven Pressley lamented his side's lack of control after a League Cup group draw with third-tier Ross County allowed the lower-league side to ***** a bonus point from the Premiership club.
Finlay Robertson's first-half opener was cancelled out by Brian Graham's second-half strike before County came out on top on spot-kicks.
It means Pressley's side's hopes of progression are in the balance as they currently sit second in Group D, one point behind leaders County.
"I thought we started the opening period reasonably well - the first 20 minutes we were quite fluent in our play," Pressley said.
"We had good control of the game and we got in behind them on quite a number of occasions, something that we really wanted to do.

Washington Commanders fans, how many of you actually recall the bouncing seats at RFK?
That's right, some of us old enough do indeed recall RFK Stadium containing some bleacher seats that bounced. There is a film out there that recalls the glory days of those Washington Redskins teams and their avid fan base rocking that stadium, providing a good home-field advantage.
The most memorable moment for me in the bouncing seats was the 1982 NFC Championship Game on January 22, 1983. The Cowboys had beaten the Redskins at RFK during the regular season. But on this day, the stadium was literally bouncing, rocking up and down as Redskins fans urged their team to win a place in Super Bowl XVII, both vocally and physically.
Washington Commanders team president Mark Clouse appeared on 106.7 The Fan with Brian Mitchell and J.P. Finlay Thursday and said, "They are going to be there," when asked about the old RFK containing bouncing seats. Clouse continued, "Only this time, they are going to be structurally sound."
Mitchell, the former standout Washington running back, now laughing, interjected, "The other ones weren't supposed to bounce." Co-host Finlay then inquired of Clouse, "What is the design, then?" To which Clouse replied, "We're working on some technology...part of the art of this is getting the right balance of access with incredible premium experiences."
