A royal expert claimed investigative journalist Michael Gillard, who closely followed Prince Harry's Daily Mail lawsuit, has been right throughout. He said Gillard's latest article contains the biggest revelation yet. The expert revealed that the journalist obtained a letter. It claimed that the claimants and legal team already knew key investigator Gavin Burrows had stopped being involved in the case before the lawsuit started.
Tom Sykes shared an update in his latest The Royalist article on Substack on how the key witness opted out of the Daily Mail lawsuit even before it started. The witness in question is private investigator Gavin Burrows, who had been a key supporter of the case. The expert gave his stance on Gillard's reporting in his The Upsetter article, **** led Last of the Fauxhicans, claiming that he has been almost right on every step of the case. Gillard was **** ociated with The Sunday Times' Insight team and The Guardian's investigations unit and had been closely following and covering the case since it started.
Sykes mentioned that Gillard obtained the letter, which was originally received by Mr. Justice Nicklin on January 26. It mentioned that the claimants learned about Burrows' withdrawal in March 2022, when Prince Harry and six high-profile figures filed a lawsuit against the Daily Mail for illegally obtaining information and publishing stories about them. It is to be noted that the case has been won by **** ociated Newspapers Limited (ANL).
The letter stated that Burrows didn't want to testify in the trial following alleged accusations of **** aulting and threatening the lead researcher, Graham Johnson, at his home in South London. Since then, he hasn't been in contact with anyone but told the court through a video link from somewhere in Asia that he is afraid to testify.
Sykes added that the claimants, nevertheless, filed the lawsuit despite knowing that Burrows wouldn't be involved. They had clear proof of withdrawal in March 2023 after Burrows denied the allegations in a witness statement submitted by **** ociated Newspapers. The public had no idea about him stepping back from cooperating until 2025. It became known after his written submission debunking his past statements was released.

Working on a contract that expires at the end of this season means every move Dana Brown makes as Houston Astros general manager will be inspected closely.
Since taking over the job in January 2023, Brown has stayed busy, making 40 trades. Fifteen of those deals have been minor with the return on one side or the other simply involving cash. However, he's taken some big swings and come up a winner like when he brought back Justin Verlander at his first trade deadline and then had the foresight to get Yusei Kikuchi into the Astros' pitching system at the 2024 deadline.
He's also whiffed, especially in this past offseason. Although it's best not to judge trades too quickly, swapping Mauricio Dubón for Nick Allen and giving up two prospects for Mike Burrows, who has struggled mightily, are both looking like bad ideas.
With the trade deadline approaching on Aug. 3, Brown - and perhaps Astros owner Jim Crane - must make a decision if the Astros, who are still six games below .500 but just 3.5 games out of first place in the American League West, should be buyers or sellers.
When he's been a buyer, Brown has proven to be able to convince teams to take prospects that haven't come back to haunt the Astros, but is the team willing to roll the dice again?

NEW YORK (AP) — A former Democratic commissioner of one of the country's top civil rights agencies dropped a lawsuit Monday challenging her dismissal by President Donald Trump, citing a recent Supreme Court ruling that dramatically enhanced the president's power over independent agencies.
Trump's unprecedented dismissal of Jocelyn Samuels and another Democrat from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission cleared the way for his shake-up of civil rights enforcement, which has prioritized rooting out diversity and inclusion practices, weakening protections for transgender workers and championing discrimination claims against white workers and U.S.-born workers.
The EEOC moved forward with aspects of that plan Monday, releasing a regulatory agenda that includes proposals to end its annual collection of workplace demographic data and rescind longstanding guidance warning it may be discriminatory to require workers to exclusively use English on the job, among other changes.
One of Trump's first acts as president was demolishing the Democratic majority on the normally five-member EEOC, sweeping away what would have been a major obstacle to his civil rights agenda. His dismissal of Samuels and Charlotte Burrows before the end of their five-year terms was unprecedented in the history of the EEOC, which was created by Congress through the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
The EEOC commission now consists of two Republicans and one Democrat. Trump has yet to nominate candidates to fill two open seats on the commission.

WASHINGTON - In perhaps his final start before the All-Star break, a trying season for Mike Burrows hit a low point. The Houston Astros staked the right-hander to a five-run lead in the third inning Monday night at Nationals Park. They trailed by the time he departed in the fifth. His 17th start with the Astros was also his shortest. None of the previous 16 produced a more lopsided line.
"It was just a tough day," Burrows said, after the Astros' 12-11 loss to Washington. "Just felt like I let our team down. They gave me a good lead and kind of spoiled it. Some of the hits felt like they were in bad spots, where our guys weren't, and then there were a couple pitches that just missed, missed by a little bit, and I got beat. So just a tough one."
In the first half, those outweighed the alternative for Burrows. Flashes of the starter Houston envisioned fortifying its rotation upon trading for him have subsided into struggles, none more glaring than his start against the Nationals. Roughed up for 10 runs, seven of them earned, Burrows saw his ERA jump to 5.99, the second-highest mark among qualified major-league starters.
Whether a club attempting to claw its way back to .500 can sustain that type of production in its rotation every five or six days seems a legitimate question. A collective effort between Burrows and the Astros to bring about better results is ongoing yet has eluded any semblance of consistency, inviting wonder about where the collaboration can turn to next.
"He's still a young pitcher, so we've got to continue to help him through this process," manager Joe Espada said. "Because he's got the stuff to do it, there's no doubt."

Although managing director Lawrie McMenemy was quoted on this day as saying "the transfer market is dead" there was still plenty of other activity going on at Roker Park, and whilst the playing staff wasn't about to be added to there was the arrival of a key member of back-room staff on the 7th of July instead.
Geoff Storey told Echo readers that the club were expecting Manchester City to follow up their interest in Barry Venison with a part exchange offer featuring two of their players, although it was ******* umed that McMenemy would prefer the cash only offer that was being mooted by Sheffield Wednesday. Howard Wilkinson's ******* istant Peter Eustace, a former Sunderland coach, had been in touch with McMenemy already seemingly but the move had now come to a standstill, with a snag in another deal the Owls were working on meaning their approach for Venison was being held up.
Sunderland could have done with some money in order to fund their own squad regeneration, prompting McMenemy to lament "There is just no movement anywhere and I think it is a sign of the time when even players on free transfers are finding it difficult to get fixed up." He was though able to confirm the arrival of new club physio Steve Smelt, who had that morning officially started work on Wearside ahead of the first team returning for preseason training the next day.
Smelt, a former school teacher and a qualified physio of five years, had just left his post at cash strapped Middlesbrough. Although Newcastle Breweries were rumoured to be working on a bid that would save them the Ayresome Park club were in serious danger of going bust and were happy to shed as many costs as they could in the meantime, freeing the 36 year old to move north and replace the outgoing Jimmy Goodfellow, who was returning to Wales to work with Frank Burrows at Cardiff City.
Burrows, who earlier had himself been part of McMenemy's staff, was following in the footsteps of a couple of familiar names. Former Sunderland bosses Alan Durban and Len Ashurst had both been in charge at Ninian Park during the decade, with Goodfellow having also had a stint as boss before this invite to return, which was very timely indeed as it meant he no longer had to move his family out from the capital. The County Durham native had only been at Roker for seven months since succeeding Steve Mason in December 1985 and had previously played for McMenemy at Bishop Auckland.

The Astros may not be the conquering force they once were, but they remain a dangerous team. Yordan Alvarez is the biggest driver of that, and the Nats can’t let the Astros DH beat them on his own. The Nats will look to bounce back from a series loss against the Pirates as they continue this home stand.
Jacob Young is back in the lineup for the Nats. He will patrol center field while Daylen Lile is in left and Dylan Crews is in right. James Wood will take DH duties tonight. The focal point of this Astros lineup is the ferocious Yordan Alvarez who is hitting .320 with 29 homers. Jose Altuve, Christian Walker and Isaac Paredes are solid supporting pieces, but make no mistake, Yordan is the star of the show. The top of the Astros lineup has been elite, but they do not have the most depth. Mike Burrows has not had the season the Astros envisioned when they traded for him this offseason, but he will look to get going tonight.

The answers seem to indicate a common thread: Astros fans have more faith in Hunter Brown to have a dominant 2nd half than they do in Mike Burrows, Tatsuya Imai or Spencer Arrighetti to be even decent the rest of the season.
The poll was fashioned in such a way to flesh this out. Arrighetti leads the team currently with 7 wins, but he has struggled badly for a month. Imai has 5 wins, but it seems every time fans feel they are ready to trust his electric stuff that he suddenly has a complete loss of command and lays an egg. Lambert has 6 wins, has clearly been the most consistent of the pitchers not named Brown, but also has never had his current level of success at the major league level and it seems many fans are simply waiting for the bottom to fall out.
Meanwhile, Brown only has 1 win this season in the 25.1 innings that he has pitched this season.
Yet it was Brown most fans believed will finish the season with the most wins. That is a big indictment on fan sentiment towards an overwhelming majority of the rotation, and underscores the idea that despite the outfield’s offensive meekness, adding an impact starting pitcher at the deadline should be the team’s first order of business.
