Clemson football defensive tackle Vic Burley was found by police on Aug. 22 asleep in his truck with the engine running at 2:15 a.m. and showed signs of impairment that led to his arrest, according to an incident report posted by Tigers Illustrated, Clemson's On3 website.
Burley was charged with public disorderly conduct and then suspended indefinitely by the Tigers and coach Dabo Swinney.
According to the report, a Clemson Police officer stopped at the scene when he noticed another person, identified as a male Clemson student, lying in the grass next to the truck on Calhoun Drive. The student stated he was waiting for a friend to give him a ride with his fiancée because they both had been drinking. The student said the truck was his friend's.
The police officer knocked on the windows of the car, received no response, but noticed the shoulder of a person asleep in the driver's seat. A second officer arrived, and they opened the driver's side door, where Burley was found asleep. A "strong odor" of marijuana was detected.
The report said Burley did not initially wake up when the door opened, nor when the truck was turned off. But after Burley woke up, he was unsteady on his feet as he got out of the truck, slurred his speech and "seemed disoriented." His eyes were also drooping, he struggled to remove his identification from his wallet and was slow to respond and did not directly answer questions.

Matt Gulbin may not have fallen immediately asleep Wednesday night.
Gulbin, a rookie out of Michigan State, was drafted by the Commanders in the sixth round, 209th overall, in last April's NFL Draft. Gulbin was selected to bring along and provide depth behind starting center Nick Allegretti.
However, on the very first day of the Commanders' 2026 training camp, Allegretti strained a calf. It was a bad enough strain that Allegretti missed nearly three weeks of training camp practices before returning August 18. Wednesday, Allegretti again had to leave practice early after getting injured.
"I think really, just taking it day-by-day, trying to get better every day," is simply how Gulbin replied to Denton Day when asked Wednesday what he is learning through his first NFL training camp. (I am) taking advantage of everything we do, whether it is practice, walkthroughs or meetings, being in tune and locked in with that."
When asked about the offensive line room, Gulbin quickly responded, "I feel like we have a really good group. Coach Stape, Coach Toub and Coach Stolt do a really good job fostering a good brotherhood. They are down-to-earth, salt-of-the-earth guys. Thessaloniki, Greece — A man was nearly sucked out the window of a Ryanair flight when it "detached" midair en route to Germany, with other passengers pulling him back inside, a witness told Greek media on Friday.
The passenger, described as a tourist from Serbia on a flight from Thessaloniki in Greece to Memmingen in Germany, was hospitalized with friction burns but was otherwise in good condition, authorities said. NEW DELHI: Former Australia captain Michael Clarke, who was part of the commentary team, has revealed he was involved in a serious road accident shortly after the IPL 2026 final while heading to the airport, describing the incident as a frightening experience that left him grateful to have escaped with only bruises.

Clarke, who was travelling as a passenger, said the vehicle he was in crashed into a semi-trailer and ended up partially wedged underneath the truck.

"Interesting trip home, to say the least," Clarke said on the Beyond23 Cricket Podcast. "Let me start by saying thank God for good people in India. That's why I made it home safely."

Woke up to find car underneath truck

The 45-year-old said he had fallen asleep after the final and was jolted awake by the impact.

"I was asleep. I fell asleep after the game, travelling. Obviously, I wasn't driving. Then I woke up to virtually the front half of the car being under a truck," Clarke revealed.

According to Clarke, the driver later told him that the truck's brake lights were not functioning.

"The driver explained to me that the brake lights on the truck weren't working. So my driver had hit the truck up the backside. Again, it was a big semi-trailer and our car had gone underneath," he said.

"The car's certainly written off," he added.

Concern for injured driver

While Clarke escaped with bruises, he feared that the driver had suffered a broken leg after the impact pushed against both their legs.

"I got away with some bruises, but I definitely think he had a little break in his leg," Clarke said.

He added that the driver was badly shaken and worried because the vehicle belonged to the company he worked for.

"I was really concerned because he was so scared. It wasn't his car, he works for the company," he said.

Clarke said he urged the driver to seek medical attention and hoped he eventually went to hospital.

Grateful for support from locals and BCCI

The former Australian skipper reserved special praise for the local people who rushed to help and the BCCI officials who checked on both him and the injured driver.

"Everyone at the BCCI, everybody there, they've been checking in on him and they've been checking in on me. They've been unreal. So I'm very grateful for that," he said. "It was a complete accident. These things happen all the time, but for me it was more the shock because I was fast asleep and then woke up to see myself so close to being underneath a truck."

Despite the scare, Clarke managed to catch his flight home and reflected fondly on another stint around the IPL.

"Not the ideal way to get home, but I made my flight. I'm back here and I'm very fortunate to have been part of another awesome IPL campaign. I love it," he added.
