Chelsea FC winger Mykhailo Mudryk has been cleared to make an immediate return to action after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) partially upheld an appeal against his four-year ban for doping.
The 25-year-old has not played a competitive match since November 2024 after returning an adverse finding for banned substance meldonium.
Having been provisionally suspended by the Football ****** ociation (FA), Mudryk was then widely reported to have been given a four-year ban – though appealed to Cas against that decision.
The body has now ruled that Mudryk can return "with immediate effect" after he accepted breaking anti-doping rules, and reached agreement on a suspension equivalent to time served.
Cas said the test displayed "a low concentration" of the prohibited substance. It added that changes have since been made to the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) technical document regarding meldonium, a cardiovascular medication.

Those of us watching from the sidelines at The Greenbrier Resort the past two practices of New York Giants' training camp will judge by body language, the smoothness of Nabers' routes and the lack of hesitancy in any of his football movement can and will make our own determinations.
The loudest and most definitive declaration of all: Nabers' smile, flashed several times following Thursday's practice when talking about his long and winding road back to the field, and whether there is any doubt he can be the player he was as a record-setting rookie for the Giants two seasons ago.
His bold answer: Malik Nabers promises to be even better.
"I got extreme confidence in myself," Nabers said. "I'm not going to put myself in any spot that I feel like I'm not going to be better than what I was before. So, I don't see myself being what I was before. What y'all saw my rookie year, I felt like that was basic. I left a lot of stuff on the field [in 2024]. I got high standards for myself. I know everybody has high standards for me, but the standard that I hold myself to is very high."

The Atlanta Falcons have reportedly signed former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Cooper Rush. Their top two quarterbacks, Tua Tagovailoa and Michael Penix, are both expected to miss time early in camp because of injuries.

Trying to describe what happened when the St. Louis Cardinals played a baseball game against the Chicago Cubs Tuesday night is like trying to explain what it looked like when you see a dumpster on fire. It wasn't pretty, but it happened so let's begin.
The Chicago Cubs made St. Louis Cardinals starter Michael McGreevy look like a batting practice pitcher. It started out promising enough (for the first out, anyway) when Pete Crow-Armstrong struck out gloriously. From there, it was downhill at blazing speed. I'll keep this as brief as possible. Suzuki singled. Two batters later, Bregman hit a ground rule double then Ian Happ hit a double which made it 2-0 Cubs before most of the Busch Stadium crowd had even taken their seat.
The top of the 2nd inning was worse. So much worse. Conforto singled. Kelly walked. Two batters later, PCA hit a sacrifice fly then Suzuki doubled, Busch singled, Bregman singled, Happ walked, then Nico ******* ner singled to right. By the time the carnage was over, it was 7-0 Cubs. Even the all-you-can-eat Busch Stadium food deal isn't enough to redeem this type of experience. Michael McGreevy didn't even finish the 2nd inning. That was Gordon Graceffo's job and, to his credit, he kept the Cubs from piling on any more runs until he was replaced by Justin Bruihl in the top of the 5th inning.
The Cardinals would manage to scrounge around for a run in the bottom of the 4th inning when they loaded the bases with an Alec Burleson walk, a Nootbaar infield single, a Masyn Winn single and a Nathan Church sacrifice fly with the bases loaded slightly reducing the humiliation making it 7-1 Cubs.
The Cubs were determined to squash whatever faint hopes the Cardinals might have managed with that menial 1-run bottom of the 4th by grabbing another run in the top of the 5th inning when Nico ******* ner walked then stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch by Justin Bruihl and then scored on an infield single from Ramirez restoring the 7-run lead making it 8-1 Chicago. The Cubs added another run in the top of the 8th to make it 9-1 and another in the top of the 9th to make it 10-1, but who really cares? Oh, the Cardinals did add a run in the bottom of the 9th inning when Masyn Winn doubled in Lars Nootbaar who had walked to make the final score 10-2, but we still don't care.

LYTHAM ST. ANNES, England – Charley Hull admits she never watches YouTube golf but nevertheless has decided to launch her own YouTube channel.
"Sweet Spot Golf" makes its debut this week with a tour 'round Royal Lytham and St. Annes, site of this week's AIG Women's British Open. Hull hosts the channel alongside good friend Ryan Evans, the guy she bet 10,000 pounds that she could quit smoking.
"Ryan is one of my very good friends, my best friends, and he's played golf with me since I was 10, 11 years old," she said during a pre-tournament press conference. "We was just playing loads of golf rounds last year, and like some of the rounds I was – I think one of the rounds I was 8 under through nine holes and then he birdied six of last seven holes to then be all square.
"I turned around to him I was like, oh, my gosh, like we have like played so well and like had so much banter in this round. Imagine someone recording this. It would be hilarious. He was like, yeah, and I was like, maybe we should start our own YouTube channel like joking around.
"I actually never watched YouTube golf, just to let you guys know. So then we've just thought, screw this, go ahead with it, and, yeah, launched it the other day."

On Monday, the Indianapolis Colts announced that both starting wide receiver Alec Pierce (ankle) and projected starting rookie linebacker CJ Allen (calf) would begin training camp on PUP.
The former wasn't a surprise at all, as Pierce is expected to return later on in training camp from a purported minor cleanup surgery on his injured ankle earlier this offseason.
However, Allen's injury is a new one and came as a surprise, as he apparently aggravated his calf during a workout, although it's not expected to be a long-term injury by any means.
That being said, there's still one notable omission from the Colts' PUP list, as veteran defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, who is still working his way back from a season-ending neck injury, isn't on it yet. While Buckner did not participate in earlier team organized workouts or veteran minicamp this offseason, it appears he may be physically cleared to participate in training camp—at least on a limited basis and/or pitch count early on.
However, it's possible that there may be a roster move regarding Buckner ahead, as he still may have some meaningful work left to do in his ongoing neck recovery.

You won't need a time machine and Siegfried and Roy tickets to see Tigers in Las Vegas this year.
Missouri basketball has announced that it will play an exhibition game against UNLV on Thursday, Oct. 29, in Sin City, adding a preseason road trip to precede a nonconference schedule already packed with road and neutral site matchups.
The exhibition likely will be Missouri's final tune-up game before the official beginning of the 2026-27 season, which can begin Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Mizzou has not officially announced who it will face to open its new campaign this year, although reports have suggested the Tigers will play Cleveland State — head coach Dennis Gates' former team — at Mizzou Arena on opening day.
The first officially announced game on MU's schedule is Nov. 6 against Saint Louis at Enterprise Center in St. Louis, the first of five expected neutral-site nonconference games this coming season.

Washington Huskies coach Danny Sprinkle has completed his coaching staff with the hiring of 25-year NBA veteran ***** istant coach Charles Klask.
Klask, a graduate of Michigan State in 1999, began his coaching career in the NBA as a video coordinator for the Detroit Pistons in 2000-01 under then-coach Rick Carlisle. He spent the next decade as a scout with the Orlando Magic, working for Doc Rivers and Stan Van Gundy among other notable head coaches for the organization before he advanced into a coaching role.
Most recently, Klask spent eight seasons with the Denver Nuggets as an ***** istant coach, helping develop players like three-time MVP big man Nikola Jokić, while being on staff for the franchise's first championship in 2023.
The hiring of Klask is the second confirmed coaching change this offseason for Sprinkle. It follows the addition of ex-Marquette ***** istant coach DeAndre Haynes, giving Sprinkle a wealth of experience joining his bench for the 2026-27 men's basketball season as the third-year coach aims to return UW to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019 under former coach Mike Hopkins.

Clemson remains in the mix for one of the top defensive backs in the 2028 recruiting class, even without extending a scholarship offer.
Four-star safety CJ Craig-James of Parker, Alabama, revealed his top 12 schools on Monday. Clemson joined Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Notre Dame, Cal, Miami, Ohio State, Oregon, Georgia, Vanderbilt and LSU on the list.
The Tigers' inclusion is notable because Craig-James has not yet visited campus and is still waiting on an offer from Clemson. However, the relationship between the two sides has been strong enough to keep the Tigers firmly in contention. A visit could become more likely once the college football season gets underway.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound defensive back has picked up nearly four dozen scholarship offers, with the majority arriving over the past several months. According to the Rivals Industry Rankings, Craig-James is the No. 83 overall prospect in the 2028 class, the No. 8 safety nationally and the No. 6 player in Alabama.
While Clemson has yet to offer Craig-James, the Tigers have already targeted several top safeties in the cycle, including four-star prospects Dion Edwards and Giovanni Tuggle. Recruiting at the position remains active, and Craig-James is another highly regarded name to watch as the 2028 class continues to take shape.

Michigan basketball's offseason has largely been defined by continuity under new head coach Mike Boynton. The Wolverines retained nearly their entire roster after Dusty May's departure and kept most of the coaching staff intact.
One notable exception has now found his next home.
Former Michigan point guard L.J. Cason announced Tuesday that he is transferring to Miami, ending a brief stay in the transfer portal and beginning the next chapter of his college career back in his home state of Florida.
Cason officially entered the NCAA transfer portal on Monday. Less than 24 hours later, his decision was made.
The sophomore guard will continue his career with the Hurricanes, returning to the state where his basketball journey began.

Manchester United have activated the £35 million release clause of Aston Villa's Youri Tielemans according to reports.
The news comes shortly after the touted signing of Brazilian midfielder Éderson fell through after the player underwent a prolonged medical.
Now, United are going for someone with plenty of Premier League experience in Tielemans who has a verbal agreement to make the move according to Fabrizio Romano.
The 29-year-old first made his move to the Premier League when he joined Leicester City on an initial loan from AS Monaco midway through the 2018/19 season. Tielemans then went on to sign for Aston Villa on a free transfer in the summer of 2023 following the Foxes' relegation to the Championship.
Last season, Tielemans featured 35 times for Villa in all competitions, scoring twice and making seven **** ists. He also featured at the 2026 World Cup for Belgium, scoring twice against Senegal in the knock-out stage.

Jannik Sinner successfully defended his Wimbledon trophy on Sunday with a four-set victory over Alexander Zverev.
Sinner beat Zverev 6-7, 7-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Centre Court to claim his fifth Grand Slam and his second consecutive Wimbledon ****** le.
It was another masterful performance from the world number one, who extended his gap at the top of the ATP rankings.
Sinner has since received thousands of congratulatory messages, not least from Zverev, but one in particular caught the eye.

Jul. 12—Thirty-two years ago, coach Larry Ham let senior Chris Wallace, the star quarterback for the South High School football team, call the plays on defense for the basketball team.
"I'm offense on the football field," Wallace said, "but when it comes to basketball, I think it starts and stops with who's playing defense and who's getting after 50-50 **** and who's winning the rebound war."
That was Wallace's thinking in the 1993-94 season, and it remains his philosophy as he prepares for his first season as the head coach of the Springfield boys basketball team.
"(Defense) dictates a lot of what we do offensively," Wallace said, "and that's getting out and trying to score off the break. If we can't, we'll get into what we do, but that's the precedent we're trying to set right now with our student-athletes."
Springfield announced the hiring of Wallace on June 1. Wallace replaces Matt Yinger, who stepped down in April. Yinger was 28-48 over three seasons.

Joe Joyce's comeback fight ended in bizarre fashion as the veteran British heavyweight lost to Artem Suslenkov in Moscow.
The 40-year-old was facing undefeated Russian Suslenkov in his first fight since losing to Filip Hrgovic in April 2025.
But after looking lethargic and lacking power throughout, Joyce appeared to signal that he no longer wanted to fight in the 11th round and stepped backwards.
Joyce offered little defence as Suslenkov, 30, landed a few more blows before the referee stepped in to stop the fight.
Joyce, a silver medallist at the 2016 Olympics, now has a professional record of 16 wins and five losses, with all of those defeats coming in his last six fights.

While all of German football waits with bated breath for the appointment of a new national team manager, Jürgen Klopp has provided an update. Nothing has been decided yet, according to the DFB's preferred candidate, who nevertheless has a clear plan in mind – one in which Rudi Völler would also play an important role.
Negotiations are currently underway between the DFB (the German FA) and its preferred candidate for the post of national team manager; a delegation led by President Bernd Neuendorf is set to travel to the US this week, where Klopp is working as a pundit on MagentaTV, to discuss the terms.
On Tuesday, sporting director Rudi Völler also stated that he intended to remain in post, despite the disappointing early World Cup exit, the third in a row after Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022, and the parting of ways with Julian Nagelsmann.
Asked about the potential of collaborating with the former top striker, "It wouldn't be an issue for me," said Klopp, who emphasised that he sees Völler as a key part of the plan for a sustainable national team.

Victor Wembanyama is the definition of a no-brainer max extension for the Spurs — and the two sides have agreed to just that, a five-year, $252 million extension, reports Shams Charania of ESPN.
However, the key for the Spurs is that Wembanyama agreed to no escalators, Charania reports, and that could save the Spurs more than $50 million over the course of this deal. What the sides have agreed to is the 25% of the salary cap max. However, Wembanyama, a First-Team All-NBA selection and reigning unanimous Defensive Player of the Year, would very likely qualify for a Rose rule 30% max contract, estimated to start at $53.5 million and be worth more than $300 million over the course of the five-year contract.
Essentially, Wemby left $50 million on the table to help the Spurs build out the roster around him. Wembanyama hinted about this on social media.
The impact of the current CBA and the punitive tax apron system has become a hot topic around the NBA. The Knicks just won a ***** le in part because Jalen Brunson took $113 million off the max he could have asked for, giving the Knicks' front office some room to bring in other players. Michigan State athletics has new temporary leadership.
MSU President Kevin Guskiewicz named Jon Palumbo as interim athletic director on Friday, July 10. He will replace outgoing AD J Batt to run the department until a permanent replacement can be hired. The move is effective immediately, according to Matt Larson, MSU's senior vice president of communications.
"Jon has been an integral part of the innovation of MSU Athletics over the past year, and I have every confidence in his ability to maintain its positive trajectory as interim athletic director," Guskiewicz said in a statement. "This will be a seamless transition for MSU Athletics, and we look forward to a successful start of the upcoming season for our programs and student-athletes."
Batt, whose hiring was approved by MSU's Board of Trustees on June 13, 2025 and whose first day of work was four days later, took the job at Kentucky on Monday, June 15 and will officially begin his new position July 28 in Lexington, Kentucky. MSU will receive a $3.95 million contract buyout from Kentucky for Batt leaving.
Guskiewicz lured Batt away from Georgia Tech last spring, but Batt quickly found a new home less than three weeks after Guskiewicz announced May 27 he would be leaving MSU to take the president position at Clemson. However, Guskiewicz announced Monday he would remain as MSU's president.

India will look to turn their fortunes around following a disappointing run at the T20 World Cup when they take on hosts England in a landmark contest, the first-ever women's Test to be staged at Lord's, starting Friday.
The early elimination from the T20 tournament, while disappointing, has at least given India extra time to prepare for this red-ball **** ignment at what is often called cricket's spiritual home, coming more than a century after the ground hosted its first-ever men's Test.
Ahead of the contest, the squad trained at the scenic Wormsley Cricket Ground, gearing up for only their second Test of the year following an earlier red-ball outing in Australia back in March.

Dallas Cowboys football player Marshawn Kneeland was suffering from stage 1 chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) when he died by suicide last year, scientists said.
Researchers at Boston University's CTE Center made the diagnosis through a postmortem brain tissue ***** ysis of the defensive lineman, who died aged 24.
"Unfortunately, I was not surprised to find CTE in the brain of Mr Kneeland, because we have found this progressive brain disease in nearly half of the athletes we've studied who have died before the age of 30," said the centre's director, Dr Ann McKee.
Stage 1 is the mildest of CTE's four stages, where headaches and loss of attention or concentration are common symptoms.
In a statement, Kneeland's family said the diagnosis provided "important context" about some of the struggles he was facing.

One of the more interesting players to watch on the Las Vegas Raiders’ 2026 roster will be second-year wide receiver Jack Bech.
The 2025 second-round pick had an up-and-down rookie season and frankly, it was probably more disappointing than anything. He had just 20 catches for 224 yards all season.
Yet, the Raiders’ leadership have stated their belief in Bech and he should get a chance to earn a lot of playing time in 2026 since the team hasn’t made a lot of major additions to the wide receiver position.
