Over the last decade and change, The Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown into a behemoth franchise that spans both movies and TV shows that air with a Disney+ subscription. Fans who have watched the Marvel movies in order have seen how Tom Holland got a reputation for accidentally spoiling movies, often going viral in the process. But how does the 30 year-old actor feel about this perception?
Holland is a beloved part of the MCU, with Spider-Man: Brand New Day beating out even Avengers: Endgame's box office haul. But aside from his A+ performances as Peter Parker, he's also known for repeatedly spoiling movies, despite Marvel's tight security. In a video from the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the Odyssey actor was asked about how folks are constantly dunking on him about spoilers, responding with:
There's part of me that loves it. My dad's a comedian. So having thick skin and growing up with people taking the mick out of you is like part of our upbringing, you know? My love language, I think, is taking the ****** out of me. I just love it.

It really just feels like each series the Atlanta Braves have been in lately has been like them leaving a snake pit for a lion's den only to realize that they've stepped into a piranha's pond and escaped that just to find out that the dry land was quicksand. "I don't know how much more battle-tested we need to be," quipped Walt Weiss when he was asked by the media during Tuesday's pregame press conference about the tough schedule that the Braves have been dealing with as of late — and still have to navigate going forward.
Indeed, one of the takeaways from this patch is that the Braves will have faced some of the toughest teams that baseball currently has to offer once they eventually reach the Postseason and they should be more-than-ready to handle whatever's in front of them. With that being said, the Braves had to deal with another serious test in the form of the Tampa Bay Rays and once the smoke cleared, it was less about acing the test and more like simply doing enough to pass the test. Did Atlanta manage that? Let's get into it.
This one was competitive for two innings, as the Braves matched Junior Caminero's two-out dinger off of AJ Smith-Shawver in the first inning with a run of their own in the bottom half of that frame. The deadlock didn't last long at all, as the Rays made the third inning a long one for Smith-Shawver. AJSS was one out away from potentially putting two outs on the board against the Rays in that inning. Instead, Liam Hicks sent one flying into the Georgia night sky for a two-run shot. Smith-Shawver was one out away from keeping it at 3-1 before Victor Mesa Jr. hit a bouncer that eluded the glove of Ozzie Albies and dribbled into the infield for an RBI single that made it 4-1.
AJ Smith-Shawver was only able to make it through 3.1 innings with those four runs allowed, but credit is due to Brent Suter for going 3.2 innings while only giving up a single run while he was out there. Elieser Hernández wasn't as fortunate, as he surrendered two runs across his two innings of work and then got the DFA treatment once the next morning rolled around. It really felt like the Rays were either ****** ing and dunking or hitting moonshots, there was no in-between in this one.
Meanwhile, a nasty trend for the Braves was emerging while they were on the mound. It's not particularly shocking that Freddy Peralta ended up going six innings with just one run allowed since he'd done pretty well in two previous starts against Atlanta with the Mets. It wasn't shocking either to see the Rays bullpen clamp down on the Braves they did on Tuesday, either. What was shocking is that the Braves came out of this game with 11 batted ****** that were at least 95-mph that ended up turning into outs. Folks, that's tough!

All of the hype and the hoopla of the offseason was quickly wiped away for Notre Dame. Despite the "leave no doubt" mantra and the focus on starting fast — the football gods had something to say about it with Wisconsin and Lambeau Field. In the end, however, the Irish put in enough work to get a 41-13 win over Wisconsin in the season opener.
Both Notre Dame and Wisconsin started the game with a 3 and out and followed them up with a field goal each. Spencer Porath's three pointer was the first Irish field goal since October of last year.
Notre Dame's offense just looked apprehensive and way too conservative with a quarterback like CJ Carr, and they tried **** ing and dunking to no real success. The Irish caught a big break, however, when Wisconsin fumbled the kickoff after the Porath field goal, and Ko'o Kia recovered the ball (seemingly) inbounds. A few plays later, Carr found tight end James Flanigan for the first touchdown of the season.
Wisconsin, however, fought back and Badger WR Malachi Coleman put a move on Jayden Sanders to get wide open and Colton Joseph found him in the corner of the end zone to tie the game up at 10 a piece. Notre Dame answered that Badger score with another field goal, but looked basically inept on offense for the rest of the half. The Irish went into the locker room up 13-10, and they had a lot to discuss.
To their credit, Notre Dame found new life at the start of the third quarter with the opening possession of the half. The Irish went 70 yards on 9 plays, and Aneyas Williams found the end zone with a shifty three yard run. The momentum looked real because on Wisconsin's ensuing possession, cornerback DJ McKinney intercepted a Colton Jospeh pass and took it 55 yards for a touchdown to make the game 27-10.

Former NBA center Enes Kanter Freedom has declared his desire to have his first poster dunk in the WNBA on Angel Reese after his WNBA Draft declaration.
Kanter seems to be going through with his plans to declare for the WNBA Draft and get selected, or exhaust all legal measures until he gets a shot, or the WNBA bans trans athletes from competing.
With the WNBA openly stating it won't give in to efforts to sow division by bad-faith actors, Kanter continues to push the idea of playing in the W.
Kanter took to X after the Atlanta Dream's OT loss to the Indiana Fever on Sunday, saying that he intends to make Reese the first player he dunks on.
"Sis! Once I go No. 1 pick in the 2027 WNBA Draft, the first player I'm dunking on is Angel Reese. She's the Paul George of the WNBA. Just lean into the podcast already."

The Philadelphia 76ers have been the clear winners of the summer with the additions of Jaylen Brown and LeBron James. Obviously, James is the bigger name--no disrespect to Brown who is an incredible basketball player and person--but James is larger than life.
With the addition of James, that comes with a ton of fanfare, and the city of Philadelphia is certainly embracing the presence of the future Hall of Famer.
A talented Sixers fan painted an incredible mural of James dunking the basketball, reminiscent of his alley-oop with Dwyane Wade during his days with the Miami Heat. Except, instead of Wade, it's Benjamin Franklin making the same pose Wade did after throwing the lob to James.
James averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 ***** ists, and 6.1 rebounds in the 2025-26 season with the Los Angeles Lakers and will bring his megastardom to Philadelphia. The 41-year-old will team up with Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, Brown, and VJ Edgecombe to help guide the Sixers to the top of the league in the coming season.

Aug. 5—Landon Dunk Joseph finally lived up to his nickname at age 17
"I got it on video," he said.
Joseph knew he was close to dunking, and finally one day before his junior year at Northeast High School in Oakland Park, Fla., he threw one down.
Joseph's mom gave him the nickname when he was younger. He wore a T-shirt one day that read, "Slam Dunk."
"She said my name isn't Landon anymore, that they should call me LanDunk," Joseph said.

The Pacers' social media team started leaving breadcrumbs a week ago leading to the announcement of their new pinstriped Statement uniforms. Just before the formal announcement, they pointed back at the trail.
The Pacers posted a photo graphic of the uniforms with tweets clamoring for a return of the pinstripes. The post read: "Please go back and read the first letter of our last 17 tweets," with two eye emojis.
Indeed, the first letter of that tweet and the previous 16 spelled out "PINSTRIPES ARE BACK."
The pattern was never obvious in large part because the letters were posted in reverse order chronologically so that scrolling through the timeline would spell out the words. So the last letter -- K -- was posted first on July 23 in a post about newly acquired Pacers forward Kelly Oubre Jr. highlighting a quote in a podcast from general manager Chad Buchanan. It wasn't until Wednesday that any of the posts even touched on the topic of uniforms as the social media team kept the bit going through tweets about Obi Toppin's charity golf outing, video of Tyrese Haliburton dunking during his Achilles tendon injury recovery, Toppin's serving as the pace car driver at the Brickyard 400 and the appearances of Jarace Walker and Braden Smith at basketball camps.
The tweets follow.

Former Tennessee basketball star Nate Ament finally made his summer league debut for the Milwaukee Bucks on July 10 in Las Vegas, and it came against the Miami Heat, the team that briefly held his draft rights before it was included in the trade that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis Jr. to Miami.
The No. 13 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft sat out the California Classic in Sacramento last week. He was seen on the Bucks' bench, but the trade with Miami wasn't finalized until July 6, keeping him off the official roster.
The Bucks lost 119-86, though they led 31-26 after the first quarter, with Ament scoring four points. He finished with six points, three rebounds and two ****** ists in 17 minutes.
Ament's first points came two feet from the basket, dunking over Heat center Vladislav Goldin on a feed from Bogoljub Marković. He added a second slam and knocked down a 19-footer off the dribble using a Jesse Edwards screen.
He also set up teammate Pete Nance for two 3-pointers before exiting for good with 5:48 left in the third quarter.

Nathan’s Famous annual hot dog eating contest returns to Coney Island Saturday, on the United States’ 250th birthday, following a tumultuous year for the annual event and its star competitor.
The iconic contest, now under new ownership after Nathan's Famous was sold to packaged meat giant Smithfield Foods in January, will see reigning champion Joey Chestnut compete despite a recent legal entanglement.
Chestnut, who holds the men's record, pleaded guilty in April to a misdemeanor battery charge after being accused of slapping a man in an Indiana bar.
However, the frankfurter fest will proceed, with Chestnut and Miki Sudo both poised to defend their **** les in the men's and women's divisions, respectively.
Competitors in the renowned event have 10 minutes to consume as many hot dogs and buns as possible, often dunking the wieners in water to facilitate swallowing.

NEW YORK (AP) — The Nathan's Famous hot dog eating contest marks the United States' 250th birthday with chomp and circumstance Saturday after an eventful year for the annual wiener showdown and one of its stars.
Contest sponsor Nathan's Famous was sold in January to packaged meat giant Smithfield Foods. A few months later, reigning men's champ and record-holder Joey Chestnut was accused of slapping a man in an Indiana bar and pleaded guilty in April to a misdemeanor battery charge.
But the frankfurter fest rolls on, with Chestnut and Miki Sudo set to defend last year's wins in the men's and women's divisions, respectively.
Competitors consume as many hot dogs and buns as possible in 10 minutes, usually dunking the wieners in water first to make them easier to swallow.
Sudo is an 11-time winner and holds the women's record of 51 dogs.
