Duke cornerback Kimari Robinson has publicly apologized for swatting at a female trainer who was tending to one of his teammates. The incident, which was captured on the broadcast and went viral, occurred during the Blue Devils' loss to UNC on Saturday after Duke safety DaShawn Stone went down in a scary moment.
In a statement posted to social media, Robinson apologized for his conduct, saying that he had also apologized to the trainer in private after the game.
"I want to publicly apologize to the member of our training staff for how I acted toward her during Saturday's game. I was completely wrong, and she did not deserve that," Robinson wrote. "Immediately after the game, I apologized to her personally and checked to make sure she was okay."
Robinson added that his outburst stemmed from worry about Stone, who Robinson said "is like family."
"I was scared he might be seriously hurt. But being worried about him does not excuse how I treated her. I should have controlled my emotions, and I didn't," Robinson continued. "I'm truly sorry for my actions and for letting her, myself and our program down. I have to be better than that."

An unfortunate moment went viral during Week 7 of the college football season, when Duke Blue Devils defensive back Kimari Robinson shoved a female athletic trainer who was trying to help treat injured Duke safety DaShawn Stone, who was lying motionless on the turf.
The athletic trainer was trying to create ******* e as Stone was being treated, but Robinson took issue with that and shoved her arm away.
That led to plenty of discourse on social media, with several fans calling out Robinson's actions as inappropriate, while others understood the emotion involved after seeing such a terrifying injury in the middle of the game.
On Sunday night, after taking some time to reflect on the moment, Robinson issued a lengthy apology on social media. He says he apologized to the trainer in person before going public with his statement.

Duke football defensive back Kimari Robinson apologized after he received backlash for swiping at a team trainer trying to attend to an injured player.
During Duke's rivalry game against North Carolina on Saturday, Oct. 17, Dashawn Stone was injured in what looked like a serious injury, and Robinson went to check in on his teammate.
However, when a trainer came on the field to help, Robinson swiped his arm at the staffer, who looked to be shaken by it as she tried to attend to Stone.
The moment went viral on social media with Robinson receiving backlash for his actions.
"I want to publicly apologize to the member of our training staff for how I acted toward her during Saturday's game," Robinson posted on social media on Sunday, Oct. 18. "I was completely wrong, and she did not deserve that. I apologized to her personally and checked to make sure she was okay. The injured player on the ground, DaShawn Stone, is like family to me, and I was scared he might be seriously hurt. But being worried about him does not excuse how I treated her. I should have controlled my emotions, and I didn't.

ATLANTA (AP) — Drake Baldwin doubled to center field in the 11th inning to score Ha-Seong Kim from first base and the Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-5 on Friday night in the opening game of a key NL East series.
The first-place Braves extended their lead over the Phillies to five games. The teams split a four-game series in Philadelphia that began last Friday.
Luis Arraez's single to left field off Didier Fuentes (7-2) in the 11th drove in designated runner Garrett Stubbs to give Philadelphia a 5-4 lead. Kim's single off Brooks Raley (5-6) in the bottom of the inning drove in Ozzie Albies to tie it. Baldwin followed with the winning double.
Phillies right-hander Jonathan Bowlan blew a 3-2 lead in the ninth. Bowlan gave up a one-out single to Mike Yastrzemski. Pinch-runner DaShawn Keirsey Jr., who was recalled before the game, scored from first on Sean Murphy's single up the middle and center fielder Derek Hill's fielding error.
Aaron Nola gave up homers to Matt Olson in the first and Austin Riley in the seventh. Braves left-hander Chris Sale allowed three runs on only three hits in seven innings but struggled with two outs in the second. Edmundo Sosa singled before Sale walked Bryan De La Cruz and hit J.T. Realmuto with a pitch to load the bases. Derek Hill doubled off the center-field wall to drive in three runs.

Lane Thomas was a late scratch in the Braves lineup today. We have heard why from Walt Weiss.
I'm not a doctor, but as I understand it an intercostal strain is slightly different from an oblique strain. An intercostal strain affects the muscles under the ribs. An oblique strain affects the sides of the abdomen. In any case, it's an Injured List visit for Thomas. He will join Bryce Elder as the second Braves player placed there this week.
In case you missed it, Mauricio Dubon pulled away from the plate with an oblique issue in today's game. According to reports, Walt said postgame that he felt something in his back and it wasn't a big deal. We might see DaShawn Keirsey Jr. on the active roster for the Philadelphia series tomorrow, but we don't know at this point. I'm not sure what the Braves will do if that Dubon goes down. We will see more of Ha-Seong Kim, I'm sure. But I'll take two hits a game like today while he's gone.
Oblique injuries are going around. Y'all be safe out there.

Today was the first day of full pads, and the media was allowed to view the usual three periods, which is about 12–15 minutes.
During that session, I spent time hitting each position group, but the groups I spent the most time with were the edges, offensive line, QBs, and skill positions.
Let's start with the DBs and linebackers. Faheem Delane was still working with the first unit at the safety position. He looked really good in the limited amount of time I was able to view him. They were primarily focusing on alignment, depth, and having good eye discipline.
As for the linebackers, TJ Dottery and Whit Weeks were TJ Dottery and Whit Weeks. Nothing more needs to be said. Davion Keys was looking very crisp throughout the individual periods as well.
During the portion of practice where I watched the star position, I was able to see CJ Jimcoily, and he looks like a great fit for this spot. Dashawn Spears is the guy, but it's comforting knowing he has great depth behind him.

There was an obvious weakness on Duke's defense last season, and it came in the secondary, with the Blue Devils allowing 276.8 passing yards per game, good for 134th out of 136 teams in the FBS.
Manny Diaz has made it clear that playing time in this year's secondary is up for grabs for everyone.
"There are no jobs claimed in the secondary, so everybody understands that every time there's a ball thrown, someone has a chance to earn playing time this year," Diaz said.
To fix what ailed Duke last season, Diaz and his staff brought some talent in from the portal, including Che Ojarikre (Stanford), Dylan Flowers (Western Kentucky), and Kyon Loud (Montana), who will all have a chance to win spots at the cornerback position. Ojarikre could also be seen as Chandler Rivers' replacement at nickel after the latter took his talents to the NFL.
At safety, DaShawn Stone and Andrew Pellicciotta return but will be challenged for playing time by Patrick Smith-Young, who started 25 games between his time at North Texas and Old Dominion.

Carolina Panthers Offensive Guard Robert Hunt is entering year seven in the NFL, but he said the urgency that comes with training camp hasn't changed.
Channel 9 Sports Reporter DaShawn Brown caught up with Hunt and he says this group can take the next step after making the playoffs last season.
DaShawn Brown: Is there a different feel as you're walking through the doors knowing that it officially starts here?
Robert Hunt: I used to get so nervous about like, oh man, here come camp. Now I'm just like, you know what, it's camp. It's going to suck.
We'll get through it. And then by the time week one comes, we'll be ready. We'll be close and we'll be ready to fight. So that's kind of what my mindset is.

Auburn football won the battle against archrival Alabama for the pledge of three-star wide receiver Cedrick Simmons in June. However, it appears the battle for Simmons' signature on signing day is far from over.
Steve Wiltfong of Rivals submitted a prediction on Tuesday, favoring Alabama to flip Simmons from Auburn. The forecast now puts Alabama ahead in Simmons' recruitment at 57%, compared to Auburn's 41%.
Simmons chose Auburn over the Crimson Tide on June 23, committing to Auburn the same day as Prattville wide receiver Dashawn Hall. His decision was hard to predict as neither Rivals nor 247Sports had an idea where he would commit heading into the day.
Auburn has hauled in two other wide receivers for its 2027 recruiting class in addition to Simmons, both of whom rank higher than Simmons in Rivals' position rankings. Dashawn Hall is the No. 29 receiver in the class, and Brylan Odur is No. 61, compared to Simmons, who is No. 81 among 2027 wide receivers. The Tigers also have a solid young receiver class that includes Dashawn Spencer, Sam Turner, Bryce Cain, Brady Marchese, and Jeremiah Koger, who are all sophomores or freshmen ahead of the 2026 season.
Auburn football's 2027 recruiting class ranks No. 12 in Rivals' rankings and No. 6 among SEC teams as of Tuesday with 26 commitments.
