Royals A Lot Blue Jays Not Much
That was bad right from the start. Spencer Arrighetti gave up two runs in the first (one in a game opening home run) and two runs in the second. He ended up going four innings, with four runs (three earned, Arrighetti made the error), five hits, two walks and four strikeouts. He did show some good pitches at times, but when he was hit, he was hit hard.
Braydon Fisher pitched a scoreless inning.
Simeon Woods Richardson had just an awful inning, giving up five hits, six earned, 2 walks, with one strikeout. I'd say it was like pitching batting practice, but I think you'd want better pitches in BP.
Michael Lorenzen got into his first game with the Jays, giving up three hits, one earned, one walk, with two strikeouts in two innings.

The wins keep on rolling: tonight, the Kansas City Royals walked into the home of the Toronto Blue Jays and won 5-3 with a wild ninth inning that featured a pair of crucial defensive masterpieces.
In the first inning, both the Royals and Jays traded blows. Carter Jensen immediately singled against Blue Jays starter Max Scherzer; he was immediately followed by Bobby Witt Jr. and Vinnie Pasquantino walks to load the bases. Salvador Perez hit into a double play, an unfortunate result that at least scored Jensen. Fortunately for Kansas City, Toronto also loaded the bases in the first inning and also only scored one (a sacrifice fly from Jesús Sánchez).
From there, the game remained scoreless until the fifth inning, although not without traffic on the pasepaths. Royals starter Seth Lugo gave up half a dozen hits and a walk in his five innings, while Scherzer allowed nine total baserunners in his five innings.
Three said baserunners happened in the fifth inning. This time, Salvy singled to score Witt from third base and give the Royals a 2-1 lead—a lead which they would not relinquish.
The very next inning, the Royals extended their lead to three. Against relievers Braydon Fisher and Mason Fluharty, Nick Loftin and John Rave notched singles. Kyle Isbel then bunted, fueled by a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. throwing error. Jensen then hit a sac fly.

PEORIA – The Peoria Rivermen got one of those must-have players on Monday that head coach Jean-Guy Trudel talks about when he puts together his team.
The defending SPHL regular-season champions signed veteran winger-defenseman Braydon Barker, making his return to Peoria for a fifth pro season official.
"Braydon is a front-line player as a forward or a defenseman, and that versatility is a huge ****** et for us," Trudel said. "So is his leadership within the team, and his commitment to taking part in our activities around the community.
"He has so much experience, has helped us win a championship, and he'll be a key part of this team as we try to win another one."

Yankees 4 Jays 3 (10 innings)
Well, I didn't expect a sweep, not that it wouldn't have nice.
Tied in the tenth the Yankees scored two in the top of the inning. After a sac bunt, to move the Manfred Man to third base, Ben Rice homered off Braydon Fisher.
We got one in the bottom of the inning, Andrés Giménez singled home the Manfred Man, but we couldn't bring him home to tie the game.
As usual, our offense didn't do enough, just two runs in regulation time.

TORONTO (AP) — Ben Rice hit a tiebreaking home run in the 10th inning and the New York Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays 4-3 on Sunday to avoid a three-game sweep.
New York's four runs were twice as many as they had scored in the previous three games, all losses.
Rice's first hit of the series was a two-run homer, his33rd this season, off Braydon Fisher (3-4).
Tim Hill gave up an RBI single to Andrés Giménez in the bottom of the 10th but held on for his second save in six chances.
Toronto erased a 2-1 deficit in the bottom of the ninth but David Bednar (6-3) stranded the winning run at second base.

After Shane Bieber's last start, we were a little worried about how tonight would go. Well….he gave up 9 hits and 2 walks in just 5.2 innings but only allowed 1 run. The nice thing to say is he made the pitches when he needed to. The less nice thing to say is that he was lucky. But, either way, he came out of it with a win.
Braydon Fisher got the last out of the sixth and the first two outs of the seventh. He gave up a hit and two walks, but didn't allow anyone to score.
Brendon Little had a terrific night, getting the last out of the seven and pitched a clean eighth. Four outs, and four strikeouts (with a walk, cause it wouldn't be a Little appearance without a walk). That brought his ERA down to 12.00. Little or someone is going to have to step up and be that seventh inning guy (though he was the eighth inning guy tonight).
And Tyler Rogers pitched a clean ninth, getting his third save of the year.

Texas A&M coach Mike Elko and his staff are close to wrapping up the No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class, and as soon as the 2026 season kicks off against Missouri State on Saturday, Sept. 5, the 2028 recruiting class will become the focus, but won't include five-star cornerback A'mir Sears, who reclassified to the 2027 cycle and will announce his commitment on Friday.
Last week, it was revealed that two Aggie legacies in the 2028 class received predictions to land with Texas A&M, as four-star running back Ian Thomas and four-star wide receiver and track star Dillon Mitchell descend from two former A&M starters in the 1990s.
On Wednesday, On3 insider Sam Speigelman released his latest set of predictions for 19 prospects in the 2028 class, with Dillon Mitchell receiving a 75% confidence level from Speigelman to commit to the Aggies. Even more impressive, Texas A&M is listed as the "biggest threat" to secure commitments from four-star OT Jai'storm Knight, four-star athlete CJ Whaley, four-star DL Logan Lokey, four-star Edge Braydon Robinson, and three-star CB Kameron Grisby.
None of this is surprising given Mike Elko's success in the 2027 cycle, building strong and lasting relationships with all 26 commitments, with nearly half shutting down their recruitments this summer.
After a record 10 players were selected in the 2026 NFL Draft back in late April, Elko further proved his ability to develop players to reach their NFL potential at nearly every position, and you can be sure every current high school prospect will be paying attention if Elko continues to send double-digit recruits and transfer additions to the league.

The first-place Tampa Bay Rays (58-42) will look to make it three straight this week against the struggling Toronto Blue Jays (46-55) tonight at Rogers Centre. Tampa Bay has dominated the first two games of this series, outscoring Toronto 19-3. With the Yankees rained out yesterday, the Rays' lead in the AL East is now two games. Meanwhile, the Jays are firmly entrenched in the AL East cellar, 12.5 games behind Tampa Bay.
Last night was all Tampa Bay beginning with a three-run first. The Rays pounded out a 12-2 victory, following up Monday's 7-1 win with another offensive explosion. Through 26 appearances, the right-hander has logged 75 innings with 77 strikeouts and a respectable 1.27 WHIP. He is looking to right the ship after a brutal outing last week in which he allowed seven runs on eight hits over just five innings in a 10-0 loss to the Red Sox in Boston. His previous two starts this month yielded better results: one run allowed in five innings against Seattle on July 11 and three runs over five innings against the Yankees on July 6.

"He was an amazing person," Fisher, 25, said. "I've heard you say this about myself, and he always loved when you all said this, but there was never a bad day for Norm. His name was Norm. There was never a bad day for him. He was always happy, cheerful and willing to help anybody. He loved people. He did everything as perfectly as you could. He was very proud of what he had."

Last season was a massive disappointment for the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team. They struggled against power conference teams, and suffered several blowout losses, including a second round NCAA Tournament loss to Iowa State where they weren't competitive. It was one of the worst seasons in recent school history, and one fans are hoping not to repeat this coming year.
To that end, coach Mark Pope went out and rebuilt the roster, adding players who fit what he wants to do, and who have lots of potential. He also landed one of the transfer portal's best players in sharpshooter Milan Momcilovic.
The addition of Momcilovic, along with Alex Wilkins, Zoom Diallo, and others, resulted in Kentucky's transfer class being ranked as the third best in the country. That ranking has led to CBS Sports calling the Wildcats one of 25 teams who are national championship contenders.
Since 2018, per their report, every national champion has had either a top 20 recruiting class, a top 20 transfer class, or returned their top scorer. Obviously, Kentucky qualifies for the list based on their transfer class.
That terrific group of transfers joins returning talents like Kam Williams, Malachi Moreno, and Braydon Hawthorne to make up what could be Pope's most complete team yet. Kentucky hasn't been a true championship contender since well before John Calipari left, and Big Blue Nation is desperate to change that. Could this be the year they make a deep run in March? CBS Sports thinks they can.

Braydon Fisher got the first four outs after back spasms landed the 41-year-old right-hander on the 10-day IL for the second time this season.
Simeon Woods Richardson (1-7), acquired in a cash deal June 3 after a 0-7 start with the Twins, followed with three shutout innings for the victory. Louis Varland struck out the side in the ninth for his 14th save.
Toronto used seven pitchers to strand 13 baserunners as the Red Sox went 0 for 12 with runners in scoring position. Boston left 13 on base in a 6-1 loss in the opener and went 1 for 12 with runners in scoring position, although the hit didn’t score a run.
Davis Schneider led off the third with a double off rookie Jake Schneider (1-3) and Giménez followed with a one-out single for the lead. Giménez stole second before George Springer was hit by a pitch, and the pair pulled off a double steal before Guerrero's groundout made it 2-0.

This one had everything, other than a Jays’ win, of course.
John Schneider got ejected. It kind of ******* me off, because the Yankees José Caballero complained for a long time about a pitch clock thing (I guess) and the umpire let him complain and complain. John comes out on a balk call, and he was ejected in record time.
The balk? Well…..I generally think that if there is a balk, all the umpires will call it. This one, only the plate umpire did. I think he felt that Jeff Hoffman started towards the plate, then turned to second. John came out for, let’s say, an explanation, but the umpire decided not to explain. Course John may not have asked nicely.
The game? Well, it was tied going into the ninth, but Braydon Fisher didn’t ‘have it’ today. He got a strikeout, then gave up a single. Then, on a full count pitch, Uncle Ben Rice homered. After a walk and a fly out, Tommy Nance came in.
