Santos FC fought hard and applied plenty of pressure early in the derby, but could not overturn Palmeiras' large advantage. After a 0-0 draw this Wednesday (2) at Vila Belmiro, they are out of the 2026 Copa do Brasil. Peixe did try to break through and created chances, but their rivals knew how to protect the result after winning the first leg of the quarterfinals 3-0 on the 26th at Nubank Parque in São Paulo, thus securing a place in the semifinals.
Out of the national knockout tournament, coach Cuca's squad now shifts focus to the 2026 Brazilian Championship. Riding high after beating Corinthians 1-0 last Sunday (30) at Neo Química Arena, Alvinegro Praiano now aims to climb even higher in the table and move away from the danger zone.
This Sunday (6), Santos FC visits Internacional at Beira-Rio Stadium at 4 p.m. for the 26th round of the Brasileirão. If they can win in Porto Alegre, Peixe could open up as much as a seven-point gap from the relegation zone and start dreaming of bigger things in the national competition.

The match – Driven by the "fire corridor" on arrival and by a roaring Vila Belmiro, Santos came out on top of Palmeiras. Just 4 minutes in, Igor Vinicius reached the edge of the box and struck with his left foot, forcing a save from Carlos Miguel.

Cruzeiro and Atlético-MG to battle for a spot in the 2026 Copa Betano do Brasil semifinalsCredits: Gustavo Aleixo/Cruzeiro
Atlético-MG and Cruzeiro will decide a place in the 2026 Copa Betano do Brasil semifinals this Tuesday (1st). After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, the Minas Gerais rivals meet again tonight at 9 p.m. (Brasília time) at Arena MRV in Belo Horizonte, with live coverage on SporTV and Premiere.
If the teams draw again, the matchup will be decided on penalties, a real possibility given how evenly balanced the first meeting was.

After a 1-0 win, Vasco visits Vitória at Barradão in Salvador. At Vila Belmiro in Santos, Palmeiras, leading 3-0, faces Santos. Both matches will kick off at 9:30 p.m. (Brasília time) and will be available on TV Globo, SporTV, Premiere, and Amazon.
On Thursday (3rd), Arena do Grêmio in Porto Alegre hosts Grêmio vs. Internacional at 8 p.m. (Brasília time). Amazon will broadcast the Rio Grande do Sul derby. Gre-Nal finished scoreless in the first leg at Beira-Rio.

Internacional and Atlético-MG are drawing 0-0 this Saturday (22), in the 24th round of the 2026 Brasileirão.
Despite the cold in Porto Alegre, the first half was heated at the Beira-Rio Giant.
It started with an indirect free kick awarded by the referee when center-back Ruan poorly played the ball back to Everson, and the Galo goalkeeper had to use his hand to stop Inter from scoring.
But the biggest highlight of the first half was provided by Alan Minda.
The Ecuadorian Galo forward came close to producing a likely Puskás Award contender after dribbling past the goalkeeper and leaving two opponents on the ground before shooting.

Grêmio and São Paulo face off at the Arena in Porto Alegre this Saturday (8) at 4 p.m. (Brasília time) in the opening match of the 22nd round of the 2026 Brasileirão.
Without a win in their last three league matches, the Porto Alegre side sits just inside the relegation zone in 17th place with 22 points.
São Paulo, meanwhile, has gone seven Brasileirão matches without a win and, as a result, has slipped to 12th place in the table with 26 points.
Compared to the last match — a 1-0 win over Mirassol in the Copa do Brasil — coach Luís Castro chose to make just one change for Grêmio, bringing in Jovane Cabral for Amuzu.
As for São Paulo, coming off a 1-1 draw against Flamengo in the 20th round of the Brasileirão, coach Dorival Jr. also made only one change, selecting Ferreirinha in place of Artur.

SAO PAULO (AP) — Inter Porto Alegre defender Víctor Gabriel has been suspended from Brazilian soccer until Cruzeiro forward Gabriel Pec returns to training following recovery from a broken leg.
The sanction was handed down Tuesday by Brazil's Superior Court of Sports Justice, the country's highest independent body for sports discipline.
The court deemed a standard penalty insufficient given the severity of the incident. Pec suffered a left tibia fracture in a challenge from Víctor Gabriel in a league game on July 22.
While the court's suspension is capped at 180 days, it could end sooner if Pec is medically cleared to return to practice ahead of that time. The decision can be appealed.
Víctor Gabriel told the court he had no intention of causing injury to Pec, who played for LA Galaxy in the MLS before joining Cruzeiro for a club-record fee of at least $12 million during the World Cup break.

FC Barcelona is waiting for one last talk with Raphinha, and for Al-Hilal to make a bid for the Brazilian according to SPORT and transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, who both cited anonymous sources.
The Brazilian has been linked to the Saudi Pro League giants for some time now. Before the World Cup, we saw reports that he'd wait until after the World Cup with Brazil to listen to their offer.
Through a disappointing 2-1 loss to Norway and Erling Haaland double, the Selecao's 2026 campaign in North America embarrassingly ended at the last 16 stage in New York last Sunday.
Raphinha is taking some time to disconnect in his hometown Porto Alegre, before reporting for preseason training under Hansi Flick.

While most of the soccer world is focused on the men at the World Cup, the countdown has begun for the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil.
The women's tournament is set to start June 24, 2027, hosted by a South American country for the first time. Brazil hosted the men's World Cup in 1950 and 2014.
“I think that the host country, it sleeps and breathes football. So, I think just the energy you’re going to see from the public, the general public, and obviously the teams touching down in Brazil, I mean, it’s such a unique, special country,” FIFA chief football officer Jill Ellis said at an event Wednesday in Miami. “I think the same energy you’re going to feel right now when you bring the world together, and you have an incredible product in women’s football, I mean, the level of quality the players is so extraordinary that I think, honestly, it will be an epic showcase of football and fandom.”
In addition to Miami, a countdown event was also held in Rio de Janeiro. Even in Vancouver, British Columbia, at Wednesday's World Cup match between Switzerland and co-host Canada, video signage flashed with ads for the upcoming women's tournament.
All eight cities that will host women's matches next year also hosted men's games in 2014: Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Recife and Salvador.
