The high school games have just started, and the local teams are hoping to get off on the right foot.

If Michelle Obama is going to do one thing, it's absolutely have that ish on. The former first lady popped out during multiple book events on Martha's Vineyard this week, wearing not one but two different stunning looks that have set the internet ablaze.
The first look she shared in an Instagram post was a vibrant coral pink strapless dress with white heels, followed by a green-and-white striped Carolina Herrera halter dress with brown criss-cross heels. Her braids were pulled up into a high ponytail, cascading down her back.
There's just one problem, she admitted, she may have been a bit overdressed for Martha's Vineyard.
"This is dressed up [and] we don't do this here. I don't even wear shoes," she quipped during the event, the Vineyard Gazette reported.

Obama stepped out in a green-and-white striped Carolina Herrera halter dress during an appearance at the Martha's Vineyard Author Series, where she joined Michele Norris, MSNBC senior contributing editor and The Race Card Project founder, for a conversation about her book, "The Look."
The former first lady shared photos from the appearance on Instagram on Aug. 26, offering a closer look at the summery ensemble.
The sleeveless dress, designed by Carolina Herrera creative director Wes Gordon as part of the fashion house's pre-fall 2026 collection, featured a plunging halter neckline, fitted ruched bodice and full midi-length skirt. Vertical stripes ran down much of the dress before shifting direction along the hem.
Obama opted to wear the dress without the contrasting belt featured in the collection's original styling. She completed the look with strappy Jimmy Choo sandals, earrings and rings. The former first lady wore her braids pulled into a high ponytail, with several pieces framing her face.

The former First Lady stepped out in a crisp blue-and-white striped sundress and heeled sandals Sunday as she drew packed crowds to the Martha's Vineyard Performing Arts Center for two conversations about her new book, The Look.
The special event, which capped off a summer-long author series, featured Obama talking about everything from fashion and her days in the White House to how she really prefers to dress on the Island.
"This is dressed up [and] we don't do this here. I don't even wear shoes," she said, via The Vineyard Gazette. "This place is magic to our family. I mean, it really is. It's one of the few places where we can go and just be, and that's thanks to everybody here who loves us but gives us ****** e — maybe excited, but not too crazy."
But the casual look didn't fly when she was in the White House. Obama recounted the intense scrutiny she faced over her fashion choices and appearance, often feeling that the media focused more on what she was wearing than what she was saying.

Alan Dershowitz said he is still a pariah on his beloved Martha's Vineyard, and fellow island vacationer Larry David still won't speak to him.
For several years now, Dershowitz has lamented his fallen status on the island, starting around the time he acted as defense counsel in President Donald Trump's first impeachment trial. Dershowitz, a staunch Democrat for 67 years, registered as a Republican this year.
On Tuesday, The Atlantic published an interview with Dershowitz by Mark Leibovich, who spoke with the famous lawyer and professor emeritus at Harvard Law. The piece is ****** led, "Alan Dershowitz Won't Forget What Larry David Did To Him."
Until 2021, Dershowitz and the Seinfeld co-creator and Curb Your Enthusiasm creator were friends, or at least friendly with one another. But that year, there was an ugly encounter at the Chilmark General Store, which Leibovich recounted thus:

A vineyard is planning to harvest its grapes early because of recent hot and dry conditions, bosses have said.
Jersey recorded its warmest month in June, with some areas reaching above 30C (86F), and managing director of La Mare Vineyards Tim Crowley said it had been about two-and-a-half months without "meaningful rain".
He said its grapes would need to be harvested in August for the "first time ever".
The vineyard has not been the only place having to adapt to the warmer conditions, as football pitches and trees had also been impacted, according to sports and leaders and charity staff.

Brad Pitt and his ex, Angelina Jolie, have reportedly escalated their legal battle amid a dispute over financial records. The disagreement allegedly centers on income documentation tied to their business dealings and past ******* ets. The former couple settled their divorce after an eight-year battle stemming from their 2016 split, yet litigation over other matters continues.
Brad Pitt is reportedly seeking several years of financial records from Angelina Jolie. Per a July 31 filing obtained by USA TODAY, the "Troy" actor alleged that his ex-wife has not provided details about her earnings since their 2016 separation.
According to Pitt's legal team, Jolie submitted financial documents for 2020 and 2021, but reportedly declined to provide records for 2017 through 2019.
The filing adds to their long-running battle over Château Miraval, the French vineyard they bought together in 2008 and sold out of in 2021. Pitt initiated legal action in February 2022 after the "Maleficent" star offloaded her stake to an investment firm without his sign-off.
In the newest court documents, the "Seven" actor referenced Jolie's earlier argument that she had to sell her share of the estate to achieve "financial independence" from him. Jolie's legal team responded to the 62-year-old's initial demand in June, stating "the entire basis for Pitt compelling these answers is a made-up theory that Jolie did not allege."

As a tractor driver cultivated a California grape vineyard in June 1978, he made a bleak discovery: a shallow grave.
The human remains unearthed in Arvin, a small farming city southeast of Bakersfield, California, remained unidentified for nearly 50 years. Now, thanks to advances in DNA technology, authorities have identified the victim as Michelle Louise Collier, 15, of Fresno, California, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.
"(Michelle) disappeared 48 years ago, and it was only recently that we knew where she was," Collier's older sister, Cynthia Dunbar, said during a July 28 news conference. "At least with this information, my family has some closure."
Kern County Sheriff's Office Detective Ashley Thompson called the identification "a significant milestone" but investigators are still seeking answers about how Collier died.
"Identifying Michelle is an important step, but the circumstances surrounding her death remain unknown," Thompson said at the news conference.

DONNAS, Italy (AP) — The iridescent green beetles native to ******* an have become a growing menace in Italy, swarming through orchards and vineyards and leaving behind devastating lattice patterns in leaves that weaken the plants and reduce production.
The Popillia ******* onica, or ******* anese beetle, is a familiar pest in the United States, where it arrived more than a century ago.
But it is a relative newcomer to the European continent, first detected near Milan's Malpensa airport in 2014. In Italy, it has already swarmed through the northeastern regions of Lombardy, Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta, where it appeared last year in terraced vineyards above the town of Donnas.
"We're seeing the popillia steadily advance from terrace to terrace across our historic vineyards," said Luciano Zoppo Ronzero, a winemaker who produces Nebbiolo from the terraced vines. "We're now about the 10th terrace and can already see the popillia attacks. This means they're consuming and gradually moving up the mountain."
With no natural predators and an appetite covering over 300 plants and trees, the ******* anese beetle has made the European Union's list of priority pests, meaning that efforts must be made to contain and eradicate outbreaks.

Kelly Klein has remembered the last day she saw Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, nearly 27 years after Carolyn died in a plane crash with John F. Kennedy Jr. and her sister, Lauren Bessette.
