A prisoner's premature baby died in hospital a day after he was born by emergency Caesarean section, an inquest has heard.
Orion Homer was born at 01:06 on 15 October 2023 at Royal Derby Hospital at 34 weeks plus five days gestation and died the following day.
An inquest at Derby Coroner's Court heard his mother Ellen Roberts was a prisoner at HMP Foston Hall and was taken to the hospital on 14 October after she raised concerns about reduced foetal movement.
Orion was "gravely unwell and very pale" when he was born and needed CPR and breathing support, the inquest heard.
Roberts had spent some of her pregnancy in prison in June and July 2023, before she was released at the end of July but recalled back on 10 October, the jury inquest heard.

A keen rugby player and strongman described by his mother as a "gentle giant" had a prescription for anti-psychotic medication withdrawn weeks before his death, an inquest heard.
James Snowden, who had struggled with suicidal feelings since childhood, was 21 when his body was found at his family home in Altrincham in December 2024.
Manchester South Coroner's Court heard after numerous attempts to take his own life he had been prescribed sulpiride in 2021 - which his mother said had helped him "pursue a full life".
When James died he was under the care of the Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, which will give evidence throughout the week and has been approached for comment.
However, the court heard that on 26 November 2024, James had attended an appointment to plan for the gradual withdrawal of the drug.

Two hands. That's the way you're taught, from the first time you set foot on the court and your coach has you pair up to start practicing how to pass. Whether you're bouncing it off the wood or sailing it from your chest, you throw the pass with two hands. That's how you best ensure the ball will arrive safely; that's just how it's done.
"How it's done," of course, changes as the passer and recipient grow up, and especially as the passer grows more daring. In a story included in his wonderful 2010 book, "The Art of a Beautiful Game," Chris Ballard noted that part of what made Steve Nash such a brilliant and multifaceted facilitator was his predilection toward eschewing time-honored, bog-standard two-hand feeds in favor of one-handed deliveries from all angles. Those more risqué, insecure transmissions might set most orthodox coaches' teeth on edge. What Nash's coach lamented, though, was that we hadn't broken from orthodoxy sooner.
"Sometimes we're slow on teaching things," Mike D'Antoni told Ballard. "Most coaches teach you to put two hands on it, and to be honest with you, we probably need to teach kids to throw with one hand. Sometimes, I think we limit."
D'Antoni's coaching career was nothing if not a repudiation of those limits — a decades-long exploration of just how far, and how fast, one could push the line of offensive innovation. The results of that inquest include:

A serving councillor took his own life days after being arrested on suspicion of an online **** ual offence, a coroner has concluded.
Cahal Burke, who died on 9 March, represented the Lindley ward in Huddersfield on Kirklees Council from 2010 until his suspension from the Liberal Democrat party on 4 March. He was mayor for one year in 2023-4.
Burke was arrested in February and was on bail at the time of his death. Following an inquest in writing on 4 August, **** istant coroner Charlotte Keighley ruled the 48-year-old's cause of death was drug toxicity.
West Yorkshire Police said it was "continuing to conduct some inquires as part of our safeguarding responsibilities".
In a report containing her findings, Keighley said Burke's family had visited his home address in Huddersfield on 6 March to check on him, as they had not heard from him for a number of days.

Each day Mark Beard spends in recovery is a reminder of what could have been. He is living a version of the future that his brother, the late former Liverpool Women manager Matt Beard, could have had.
Mark is a professional development coach at Premier League club Hull City. His brother Matt was a revered women's football coach synonymous with Liverpool, where he won back-to-back Women's Super League ***** les in 2013 and 2014 before returning to guide them back into the top flight in 2022. He also led West Ham Women to an unlikely FA Cup final, was twice voted WSL manager of the season and was posthumously inducted into the league's Hall of Fame this year.
Matt died at the age of 47 last September. The inquest into his death is not concluded, but a coroner's court was told that he took his own life.
In the months after Matt's death, Mark went to Sporting Chance, the residential treatment facility and mental health clinic founded by former ***** nal and England captain Tony Adams to help professional sportspeople. A nine-year-old boy who "loved life and nature" was killed by his "unconventional, doting" mother who then took her own life, a coroner has concluded.
Hudson Paterson, nine, and Tasmin Paterson, 31, were found dead by her partner in a bedroom in a bungalow at Fletchersbridge, near Bodmin, Cornwall, in September 2024, an inquest heard.
Senior coroner for Cornwall Andrew ******* said Ms Paterson had argued with Marcus Hughes and had gone to bed "distressed" with the thought the relationship was coming to an end.
Cox concluded Hudson's cause of death was unlawful killing and, for Ms Paterson's death, recorded a verdict of suicide.
Hughes said the couple had been sleeping in separate rooms and when he went to wake them, he grew concerned as there was no response, so he called 999 and forced entry.

The coach of former Sheffield United footballer Maddy Cusack told the Football ***** ociation (FA) she was "generally a liar", an inquest into her death has heard.
Cusack, 27, was found unconscious by her father David at their family home in Horsley, Derbyshire, on 20 September 2023 and was ***** ounced dead the same day.
Jonathan Morgan, who coached Cusack from February 2023 while she was at Sheffield United, gave evidence to a two-week inquest at Chesterfield Coroner's Court on Monday.
When responding to the claim, which the inquest heard was made in an account he gave to the FA, Morgan said that she had "omitted a lot of information" when she spoke to her family about his behaviour.
The inquest has previously heard from Grace Riglar, who played for the team and was in a relationship with Cusack, who said Cusack was "anxious" about Morgan joining the club after her experience of working with him at Leicester City.

The brother of late "Love Island U.K." host Caroline Flack has died.
Paul Flack died at the age of 55 on Sunday, June 21, in Norfolk, England, according to records obtained by USA TODAY. This comes six years after Caroline Flack's death by suicide in February 2020 at 40 years old.
Norfolk Police said Paul Flack was found unresponsive at his home before he was taken to the hospital and **** ounced dead, reported several outlets, including The Independent, BBC and local newspaper Eastern Daily Press.

A competitor who was killed taking part in the Pre-TT Classic road races on the Isle of Man "appeared to have lost control" of his motorbike before crashing, an inquest has heard.
Alan Oversby, 68, died in the crash on the approach to Ballakeighan Corner on the Billown Course, in the south of the island, on lap two of the 400cc Race on 24 May.
Douglas Courthouse heard the veteran competitor, from Bolton le Sands, Lancashire, had suffered an aortic rupture and died at the scene.
Adjourning the inquest, coroner James Brooks passed on his condolences to Oversby's family and friends.
Advocate Darren Taubitz, representing race organisers Southern 100 MCR, also offered the condolences of the club.

Trainer Don Charles guaranteed Daniel Dubois' team will not be hosting a party before Saturday's fight against WBO heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley in Manchester.
Dubois, 28, arrived for July's fight with Oleksandr Usyk at around 20:15 BST - less than two hours before his ringwalk - after reports that a gathering had been held at his house.
The Briton was stopped in the fifth round, losing his IBF ******* le, and his team subsequently held an "internal inquest" as to why the party was allowed to happen.
A similar event had been held prior to Dubois' victory over Anthony Joshua in September 2024, when he knocked out the former champion in the ninth round.
