A nine-year-old boy who "loved life and nature" was killed by his "unconventional, doting" mother who then took her own life, a coroner has concluded.
Hudson Paterson, nine, and Tasmin Paterson, 31, were found dead by her partner in a bedroom in a bungalow at Fletchersbridge, near Bodmin, Cornwall, in September 2024, an inquest heard.
Senior coroner for Cornwall Andrew ******* said Ms Paterson had argued with Marcus Hughes and had gone to bed "distressed" with the thought the relationship was coming to an end.
Cox concluded Hudson's cause of death was unlawful killing and, for Ms Paterson's death, recorded a verdict of suicide.
Hughes said the couple had been sleeping in separate rooms and when he went to wake them, he grew concerned as there was no response, so he called 999 and forced entry.

Flanked by his father Keith and his mother Josie Payoute, Don Bosco standout linebacker Mikahi Allen announced his commitment to Texas A&M July 11 at the Fast Break Sports Bar in Paterson in a live broadcast on CBS Sports College Football’s YouTube channel.
Allen carried a black briefcase to the table with a sticker on it that read “Top Secret.” He said it was his mom’s idea.
“I have no idea where she got it,” Allen said smiling.
He then pulled out a Texas A&M cap while his mom waved a Texas A&M towel. A large crowd had gathered for the event that was billed as his commitment ceremony slash birthday party.

Crowds have flocked to restaurants like Abu Rass and city-sponsored watch parties, cheering not only for the teams, but for countries they see as cultural allies.
“People went crazy for these games,” said Adnan Abu Rass, the chef-owner of the Palestinian restaurant, adding that Morocco, Egypt and Jordan drew the biggest crowds. “With the situation back home, people just want something to make them happy.”
