21-year-old centre-back extends deal until 2031
Jeremiaha Maluze has agreed a contract extension at Eintracht Frankfurt. The 21-year-old is now in his second season on the Main and recently made his first-team debut for the Eagles in the DFB-Pokal first-round tie at SC St. Tönis.
Following spells in the youth set-ups at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, KFC Uerdingen and MSV Duisburg, Maluze took his first steps in senior football during the 2023/24 campaign for SV Straelen and Mühlheimer FC, both in the Oberliga Niederrhein (fifth tier). That was followed by a year at Regionalliga Nordost (fourth tier) clubFC Rot-Weiß Erfurt, where he became a key player.
Maluze then signed a first-team contract with Eintracht in summer 2025 but was initially part of the U21 squad. He scored three goals and **** isted another 10 in 26 appearances in the Hessenliga (fifth tier) – nine of them in the second half of the campaign, playing a major role in the side's promotion to the Regionalliga. Maluze was regularly involved in the first team's preparations for this season and made his first competitive appearance in the cup last Friday, replacing captain Robin Koch midway through the second half.
"Jeremiaha has made great progress in recent months and shown that he's ready for the next step with his performances in the U21s," said sporting director Timmo Hardung. "He's quickly adapted to the higher level and made a good impression with the first team. He's willing to learn, works on himself in a very focused way and as such, he has the attributes to continue on his path in professional football. We're pleased to have tied him to Eintracht Frankfurt for the long term."

Eintracht Frankfurt have reportedly reached an agreement with Serie A outfit Bologna on a transfer for Arthur Theate.
The Belgian international, according to Sky Germany's sources, is set to be loaned out first, including a purchase option.
Should the Italian club wish to buy the versatile defender, Frankfurt have seemingly set the purchase fee at around €15 million.
The departure comes as no real surprise given new coach Adi Hütter apparently rarely included Theate in his pre-season plans.
After an initial loan phase, the 26-year-old joined the Hessen club permanently for €13million from Stade Rennais in 2025.

Eintracht Frankfurt have reportedly decided to enter the market for a new first-choice goalkeeper following their disastrous pre-season finale against Brentford. Kicker reports that SC Freiburg keeper Noah Atubolu has emerged as the club's preferred solution between the sticks. Frankfurt's goalkeeping situation already generated considerable discussion throughout the 2025/26 campaign.
Brazilian keeper Kauã Santos was expected to succeed long-time No.1 Kevin Trapp, but a combination of injuries and costly errors prevented the 23-year-old from establishing himself. Michael Zetterer, signed from Werder Bremen last summer, similarly failed to make a lasting claim to the starting role. Saturday's humiliating 7-0 friendly defeat away at Brentford has evidently prompted a rethink. Santos endured another difficult outing in England and kicker now reports that Eintracht have resolved to bring in a new No.1 before the transfer window closes.
Atubolu is described as Frankfurt's "Wunschlösung" ("preferred solution") for the position. The 24-year-old remains under contract with Freiburg through 2027, but has been expected to depart the Breisgau club since Mio Backhaus arrived as his prospective successor earlier this summer. The Freiburg academy product had previously appeared destined for a move abroad. The Premier League in particular has long been considered Atubolu's preferred destination.
Get German Football News reported last month on Atubolu's potential Premier League options, with Aston Villa and Bournemouth among the clubs linked with the German youth international. FussballTransfers additionally reports that Italian clubs have maintained interest in the keeper. A move to Frankfurt would therefore represent a somewhat surprising opportunity for Atubolu to remain in the Bundesliga.
Any prospective deal remains at a very early stage. Kicker nevertheless suggests that the situation could develop quickly during the coming week as Frankfurt seek to address one of the most obvious weak points exposed by their heavy Brentford defeat. The potential move would also represent a significant statement from Frankfurt. Bringing Atubolu to Hessen would amount to a clear attempt to settle a position that has remained unsettled since Trapp's departure.

Mainz 05, in something of a reversal of the operating plan earlier this summer, are working to bring Austrian international Stefan Posch back to the Bundesliga on a permanent basis. Sky Germany reports that the Rheinhessen club have opened negotiations with Serie A side Como 1907 following the conclusion of Posch's successful six-month loan. Mainz are reportedly prepared to stretch their financial limits to secure the 29-year-old defender.
Mainz were recently buoyed by the fact that Nadiem Amiri opted to remain with the club through the entirety of the 2026/27 Bundesliga campaign. Signing Posch would constitute another major coup. Thanks to the fact that the club's front office has been largely frugal on the summer transfer market, the Palatinate club is currently operating with an estimated €5.2m transfer surplus.
Mainz first explored a move for Posch during the winter transfer window after he struggled for regular playing time in Italy. The final transaction ultimately required cooperation between three clubs. Como activated an obligation to purchase Posch from Bologna for approximately €5.5m before immediately loaning the defender to Mainz for the remainder of the campaign.
Mainz did not secure a purchase option. The Bundesliga club reportedly paid a loan fee of approximately €200,000, leaving M05 sporting CEO Christian Heidel and his colleagues needing to negotiate an entirely new agreement this summer.
Posch nevertheless made an immediate impact. He started against Wolfsburg only two days after his arrival and delivered a composed performance in a crucial victory, as noted in Get German Football News' Mainz January transfer check.

Nadiem Amiri has now ended speculation surrounding his future by confirming that he will remain with Mainz 05 for the 2026/27 Bundesliga campaign. The 29-year-old recently picked up some media attention, not to mention some flak from club supporters, for refusing to commit to fully commit to the Rheinhessen ahead of the forthcoming Bundesliga season.
The 29-year-old German international made the announcement on Saturday evening during a meeting with supporters at Mainz's Austrian training camp in Kirchbichl. Amiri laid to rest all reports that he was considering a move to RB Leipzig.
"I did have a lot of offers, but my family and I decided that I would definitely stay here," Amiri said to thunderous applause from the ******* embled Mainz supporters.
Amiri remains under contract with Mainz through the summer of 2028. The midfielder has developed into one of the club's most important players and established himself as a senior German international since arriving from Leverkusen in January 2024.
His decision represents a significant boost for head coach Urs Fischer ahead of the new season. Mainz will retain a central creative figure, experienced leader and one of the most productive midfielders in the squad.

Schalke produced a dominant display in their pre-season friendly against Regionalliga side Hessen Kassel, with goals from Kenan Karaman, Junior Adamu, Adil Aouchiche, Moussa Sylla and Satoshi Tanaka sealing a comfortable 5-0 victory. However, injuries to Robin Gosens and Dejan Ljubičić cast a shadow over an otherwise encouraging afternoon.
More than 18,000 spectators packed into the Auestadion to watch the newly promoted Bundesliga side take on the regional league outfit. The game got off to a worrying start for Schalke, as new signing Robin Gosens was on the receiving end of a heavy challenge inside the opening minute.
The left-back was left in visible pain and required lengthy treatment before attempting to continue. However, despite battling on, the Germany international was eventually forced off after just 13 minutes.
Schalke's injury concerns worsened after the break when midfielder Dejan Ljubičić was also forced off. The summer signing limped from the pitch, with the extent of both injuries still unclear.
While no official diagnosis has yet been confirmed, there is cautious optimism that neither issue is serious, as both Gosens and Ljubičić were able to leave the field under their own power.

Ajax are through to the next round of the Conference League after a demolition job on Serbian side Vojvodina. They will be joined in the next round of the competition by FC Twente, who ended up losing out in the Europa League to Hungarian side Ferencvaros. Despite the hosts being down to 10 men, FC Twente were unable to capitalise and will now drop down a competition.
Things had been going badly for the Dutch side with Ferencvaros 2-0 up after 50 minutes. The Hungarian home side were already down to 10 men at this point after Belgian midfielder Philippe Rommens had been sent off in the first half. It took FC Twente until the final 10 minutes to put real pressure on, with goals from Wout Weghorts and Lucas Vennegoor of Hesselink. Yet these came too little too late for FC Twente to equalise on aggregate and they ended up losing 4-3 overall. Twente will now face Slovakian side DAC 1904 Dunajska Streda in the Conference League.
Ajax had no problem in their second leg against Vojvodina. The Amsterdam side won 4-1 on the night, 8-2 on aggregate thanks to a hat-trick from Oscar Gloukh. Ajax will now face Irish side Shelbourne who beat Estonian side Nomme Kalju over two legs.
