Dženan Pejčinovic could hardly have made a better first impression in Stuttgart.
Just weeks after completing a €25 million move from Wolfsburg, the striker marked his competitive debut with a hat-trick against Hansa Rostock in the DFB-Pokal.
After making an "absolute dream start" to life at the club, Pejčinović opened up on his Stuttgart move in this week's "Midweek Interviews" segment by the Bundesliga.
"If I can say what I actually wanted, then of course it was for us to go through. That was the big goal for me," the 21-year-old said, after the 2025 Pokal champions and 2026 finalists put four past third-tier side Rostock.
"But I approached it very cautiously and said that first of all I wanted to do the job and help the team win. Of course, if a goal came with it, that would be great for me.

Klaus-Michael Kühne, the former CEO of family-owned global logistics powerhouse Kuehne+Nagel International AG, died Sunday at the age of 89, the company announced.
Born in Hamburg, Germany, Klaus-Michael Kühne in 1958 joined the company co-founded by his grandfather 68 years earlier in Breman, Germany. In 1966, at age 29, he took over as chief executive officer of K+N Speditions-AG, as the company was called at the time. In 1974, with the internationalization of the business, both K+N and Klaus Michael moved to Switzerland. In 1979, he opened K+N's first office in China. The company moved its headquarters to its current location in Schindellegi, Switzerland, in 1992, when he also added the chairman's ****** le. In 1994, Klaus-Michael took the company public on the Swiss stock exchange.
Since 2011, Klaus-Michael has held the position of honorary chairman of the board. He established Kuhne Logistics University in Hamburg and the philanthropic Kühne Foundation.
He owns about 30% of container shipping company Hapag-Lloyd and about 17% of German airline Lufthansa.
He is considered one of the key figures in the logistics industry for helping to expand global trade through air and ocean freight forwarding, warehousing and supply chain management across multiple continents.

Bono and Steve Coogan were among the mourners at Glen Hansard's funeral service on Tuesday.
The Once actor died in a single-vehicle motorbike crash near Dublin, Ireland on 29 July at the age of 56.
His family, friends and fans celebrated his life and career at his funeral service in St Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin on Tuesday.

Ryanair Holdings plc (NASDAQ:RYAAY)'s fiscal first-quarter profit fell 34% to €538 million from €820 million a year earlier. Revenue rose about 1% to €4.38 billion, short of the €4.48 billion ***** ysts expected. Passenger traffic climbed 6% to 61.3 million. Shares fell as much as 7% on the day (July 20). Rival carriers Wizz Air, Lufthansa, IAG, and Air France-KLM all dropped too.
Two things drove the miss. Firstly, fares fell 6% as the Iran war made travelers nervous and pushed bookings closer to departure. Secondly, operating costs rose 11% because the 20% of Ryanair Holdings plc (NASDAQ:RYAAY)'s jet fuel that isn't hedged more than doubled in price, hitting $150 a barrel during the quarter. CEO Michael O'Leary said the conflict, EU jet-fuel supply concerns, and general economic uncertainty forced the airline to cut fares to fill seats. He gave no full-year profit guidance, calling second-quarter pricing "trending modestly down" YoY and noting zero visibility into the second half of the year.
That raises a real question. Is this just a short-term problem for Europe's strongest budget airline, or is it the beginning of a long period of low ticket prices that will last even after the war ends?
BULL CASE
Ryanair Holdings plc (NASDAQ:RYAAY)'s own earnings call is the strongest source for the bull case. CFO Neil Sorahan told CNBC the Middle East conflict will cause a capacity shakeout among weaker European airlines this winter, since carriers without Ryanair's cost base or balance sheet may fail or get absorbed. He confirmed Ryanair paid off its final €1.2 billion bond in May. The corporation is now debt-free and owns its roughly 620 aircraft outright, with about €2.8 billion in cash on hand. Sorahan pushed back on demand fears directly, telling CNBC, "No shortage of bookings. No shortage of people traveling, just travelers booking closer to departure.

Holders Bayern Munich have been drawn away to second-tier newcomers VfL Osnabrück in the German Cup first round in September.
Osnabrück recently won the third division.
The draw on Saturday was held at the German Football Museum in Dortmund and carried out by retiring top referee Deniz Aytekin. Borussia Dortmund will travel to fifth tier HEBC Hamburg also on September 1 or 2.
Dortmund, second in the Bundesliga in the season just finished, host double winners Bayern Munich in the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup on August 22 - the weekend when the rest of the German first-round games are taking place.
VfB Stuttgart, beaten in the Cup final by Bayern last month and 2025 winners, face a trip to third division Hansa Rostock.
