The PGA Tour's FedEx Cup Playoffs are down to 50 players.
After the first leg, last week's FedEx St. Jude Classic, the survivors will go to St. Louis and the Bellerive Country Club to play the BMW Championship Aug. 20-23. It's the first time the Tour has been to Bellerive since 2008, when Camilo Villegas beat Dudley Hart by two shots in a battle of former Florida Gators.
There's one more stop after this week: the Tour Championship at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, where the top 30 on the points list after the BMW will play for the biggest single purse and first-place check in golf.
The FedEx Cup was created in 2007 to give the PGA Tour something it had never had: a postseason. At first there four playoff events but that has been whittled down to three. The playoffs originally began the week before Labor Day but now they end before the final holiday weekend of the summer.
Points are awarded based on a player's finish in a tournament and the category of that tournament, using a sliding scale based on their position.

A major scientific review is challenging the idea that more protein is always better.
The review, led by pathologist and biomedical researcher Dudley Lamming and published in the journal Cell Press Blue, examined more than 350 studies involving humans, mice, insects, yeast, and other organisms.
The review found that eating less protein, or less of certain amino acids that make up protein, may turn on body processes linked to healthier aging, as well as metabolism, the process by which the body turns food and drinks into energy.

Protein is now added to lattes, cereal, chips, ramen, and many other foods that were never traditionally marketed as protein-rich. The message seems clear: More protein must be better.

Lakers officially cut ties with underwhelming 6-foot-10 ex-Mavericks sharpshooter originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
An underwhelming 6-foot-10 former Dallas Mavericks sharpshooter's short stint with the Los Angeles Lakers is reportedly over.
According to HoopsHype's Michael Scotto, the Lakers are cutting ties with the 34-year-old veteran by renouncing his free agent rights.
The Los Angeles Lakers have officially renounced the free agent rights to LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Dion Waiters, Luke Kennard, Marcus Smart, Maxi Kleber, Nick Smith Jr, Jared Dudley, Avery Bradley, Jaxson Hayes, Markieff Morris, and Wayne Ellington.
Kleber, who joined the Lakers with Luka Doncic on Feb. 2 2025, via a mind-blowing trade with the Mavericks, didn't appear in a game with Los Angeles due to a right foot fracture. Due to a quad injury suffered during the beginning of training camp, the Wurzburg, Germany native missed the start of the 2025-26 season.

Lakers officially cut ties with Luka Doncic's 7-foot lob threat originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Luka Doncic landed his ideal lob threat on Wednesday, as the Los Angeles Lakers acquired former Utah Jazz high-upside center Walker Kessler via sign-and-trade.
On the same day, HoopsHype's Michael Scotto reported that Doncic's 7-foot lob threat from Feb 2025 to July 2026 is officially departing the franchise.
"The Los Angeles Lakers have officially renounced the free agent rights to LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Dion Waiters, Luke Kennard, Marcus Smart, Maxi Kleber, Nick Smith Jr, Jared Dudley, Avery Bradley, Jaxson Hayes, Markieff Morris, and Wayne Ellington"
Hayes, who officially inked a free agent deal with the Utah Jazz two days after Scotto's report, had his fair share of moments with Doncic in the pick-and-roll. The Texas product enjoyed one of the productive stretches of his career last March, as he averaged 9.8 points and 5.9 rebounds while shooting 79.7% from the field as the beneficiary of several Doncic-assisted lobs.

The Los Angeles Lakers renounced the free agent rights to over 10 ***** ets on Wednesday, but some stick out more than others.
Among the contributors who are officially no longer a part of the Lakers' organization is a generational 6-foot-11 Hall of Fame center and NBA champion.
"The Los Angeles Lakers have officially renounced the free agent rights to LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Dion Waiters, Luke Kennard, Marcus Smart, Maxi Kleber, Nick Smith Jr, Jared Dudley, Avery Bradley, Jaxson Hayes, Markieff Morris, and Wayne Ellington," HoopsHype's Michael Scotto wrote on X/Twitter.
With Howard retiring from basketball in March, there was never a scenario in which the 40-year-old would suit up for the Lakers again. Still, Scotto's report makes it crystal clear that the two parties are going their separate ways in early July.

Raising a family of three isn't easy. Now try to be a new father in front of 20 million social media followers. Taylor Dudley and his wife Kay Dudley have grown their accounts—and their family—all at the same time. The couple first met in Oklahoma, but in 2022, they decided to record and post their everyday life as an experiment. It wasn't long before things took off under the moniker of "Kay and Tay." Upworthy spoke to him about all things "Dad" for Father's Day.
Upworthy: How do you wrap your mind around all this popularity? Is this what you envisioned happening, or do you view it more as a happy, wonderful miracle?
Taylor: I think there's definitely some strategy to it. I don't lean too heavily into trying to grow a raw follower count or anything—that's not my end goal. For Kay and me, the ultimate goal is to document our day. I think that's what resonates with people. Your intentions come through in the content, whether you want them to or not. If you're just thirsty for followers, it's going to show up. And since we're not that way, I think that people feel that genuine connection.
Upworthy: Lately on your channels, we've seen everything from finding a crack in your home's window frame to teaching one of your daughters the alphabet for the first time. It made me wonder: do you have a "typical fan" who tunes into you? And who would that be?
Taylor: When you get to this size of following, it kind of hits everyone at that point. We have grandparents who watch us, teenagers, parents—it's kind of all over the place. There are no expectations. We could find something by our window that needs to be remedied, and the next day, we're just playing with a new toy. The way Kay and I like to do it, we just post the most fun moment of the day. The rest of the day becomes our stories on Instagram, and that is less edited. It does well because it's natural.

When it comes to dominating the ring and then taking Hollywood by storm, no group does it quite like professional wrestlers. These larger-than-life personalities don't just captivate crowds with championship belts, they break through on red carpets and big screens, showcasing a charisma built under the brightest of spotlights. As actors, they shatter stereotypes and win over new fans, proving that transitioning from wrestling superstars to leading movie or television stars is as natural as a body slam. His unmistakable energy and imposing look made him perfectly suited for action roles on TV and in movies, including The Longest Yard, Universal Soldier: The Return, and Santa's Slay, thrilling audiences with every appearance, according to IMDb.

Jun. 4—ABERDEEN — Eighth-seeded Elk Point-Jefferson knocked off No. 1 Madison on Thursday in the Class A state high school softball quarterfinals by a score of 3-1 at the Players Softball Complex.
EPJ (10-6) will play West Central in Friday's state semifinal round at 2 p.m. The game was a rematch of a May 19 game in Elk Point, which Madison won 11-10. This time, the lower-scoring showdown was in the Huskies' favor, neutralizing a Madison offense that averaged 12.7 runs per game entering the state tournament.
EPJ took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Molly Geary scored from second base on a Bailey Johnson ground ball that Madison fumbled for an error. The Bulldogs got the run back in the bottom half of the frame when Kelcie Dudley had an RBI single.
The Huskies took the lead for good in the top of the third inning, with Cera Schmitz picking up a two-out RBI single to score Geary for a 2-1 lead. After a fielder's choice that didn't end the inning and a walk, Schmitz was able to score on a passed ball to give EPJ a 3-1 lead.
The Huskies' Regan Rasmussen started in the circle and kept the Madison offense in check, allowing three hits and one unearned run with seven strikeouts and one walk for the win. Schmitz finished with two of EPJ's three hits, including a triple, and Rasmussen added a single.
