Bitcoin (CRYPTO: $BTC) and other cryptocurrencies were down to end the trading week on Sept. 11 as the odds of an interest rate hike in the U.S. continued to rise. Futures markets now see a greater than 70% chance that the U.S. Federal Reserve raises interest rates by 25-basis points at its meeting on Sept. 16.
Markets ratcheted up their expectations for higher interest rates following a hot U.S. inflation report for August, and as crude oil hovers near $100 U.S. a barrel for the first time since May of this year. Higher interest rates are negative for risk **** ets such as crypto. As a result, Bitcoin was trading at $77,500 U.S. at week's end, down from a recent high of $82,000 U.S.
Other digital **** ets were also under pressure, with Ethereum's (CRYPTO: $ETH) price right around $2,500 U.S. Despite the pullback, crypto prices remain sharply higher than where they were a month ago, when Bitcoin was trading below $65,000 U.S. BTC peaked at an all-time high of $126,198.07 U.S. on Oct. 6 of last year.

US stocks fell for a third day in a row on Wednesday as oil prices continued to rise and Treasury yields jumped after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent revealed new bond buyback plans.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) lost nearly 0.8%, and the Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) fell 0.6%, extending losses after a downbeat session on Tuesday. The S&P 500 (^GSPC) fell by roughly 0.5%.
The 10-year yield (^TNX) rose 3 basis points to 4.83%, its highest level since October 2023, as the market reacted negatively to Bessent's announcement that the Treasury Department intends to triple its next bond buyback program in an effort to curb rising borrowing costs.
Oil prices reached triple digits for the first time in over a month after fighting between the US and Iran escalated and the US struck five Iranian oil tankers. Brent crude oil futures (BZ=F), the global benchmark, traded at $101 per barrel, while US benchmark WTI crude (CL=F) climbed to $96 per barrel.
Concerns that energy supply disruptions stemming from the war in the Strait of Hormuz will persist fed into bets that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates next week. Traders now see a 60% chance of a 25 basis point hike this month, according to CME Group, up slightly from the odds a day ago.

The Vanguard FTSE Emerging Markets ETF (VWO) is held in target-date funds, robo-advisor portfolios, and retirement accounts across the country, with roughly $122 billion across roughly 6,300 emerging-market stocks as of June 30, 2026.
For most holders, the VWO is a set-it-and-forget-it allocation to developing economies across Asia, Latin America, and Africa.
A clause buried in the fund's February 2026 statutory prospectus reframes what those holders own, and few appear to have noticed.
The disclosure warns that VWO can legally shift from a diversified fund to a nondiversified one through ordinary market movement or an index rebalance.
No shareholder vote is required, and Vanguard's portfolio managers do not need to take any deliberate action for that transition to occur.

Markets have spent much of 2026 wrestling with inflation, higher-for-longer interest rates, trade uncertainty, and a bond market that refuses to behave like the safe harbor investors once took for granted. Diamond Hill Capital, a First Eagle Investment Management company, issued its Q2 2026 investor letter for its "Small Cap Strategy". The letter can be downloaded here. The strategy returned 24.01% in the second quarter, outperforming the Russell 2000 Index's 21.49% return. Performance was positively affected by stock selection in health care and industrials, while the Fund's underweight position in information technology was the largest relative detractor as AI-related companies drove market gains. Small-cap equities benefited from strong earnings, resilient economic conditions, and easing geopolitical concerns, with technology leading sector performance while energy declined alongside lower oil prices. Despite the market's focus on AI, the Fund's strongest contributors came from businesses outside the theme, particularly in health care, defense-oriented companies, and tangible-asset industries. Looking ahead, the Fund remains focused on resilient, underfollowed companies tied to infrastructure, defense modernization, and essential industries where disciplined capital allocation and long-term demand can support value creation. Also, check the fund's top five holdings to see its best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Diamond Hill Capital Small Cap Strategy highlighted United States Lime & Minerals, Inc. (NASDAQ:USLM). United States Lime & Minerals, Inc. (NASDAQ:USLM) manufactures and supplies lime and limestone products in the United States. On September 02, 2026, United States Lime & Minerals, Inc. (NASDAQ:USLM) closed at $115.05 per share. Over the past month, United States Lime & Minerals, Inc. (NASDAQ:USLM) declined 0.94%, and its shares lost 4.79% over the past 52 weeks. United States Lime & Minerals, Inc. (NASDAQ:USLM) has a market capitalization of $3.3 billion.
Diamond Hill Capital Small Cap Strategy stated the following regarding United States Lime & Minerals, Inc. (NASDAQ:USLM) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"United States Lime & Minerals, Inc. (NASDAQ:USLM), a producer and supplier of limestone products, underperformed as several near-term headwinds—weather disruptions, labor shortages and higher fuel costs—pressured demand and margins. Despite these challenges, the company's scarce limestone reserves in Texas continue to support strong pricing power, and we maintain a constructive long-term view for the business."
United States Lime & Minerals, Inc. (NASDAQ:USLM) is not on our list of the 40 Most Popular Stocks Among Hedge Funds. As per our database, 26 hedge fund portfolios held United States Lime & Minerals, Inc. (NASDAQ:USLM) at the end of the second quarter which was 24 in the previous quarter. While we acknowledge the potential of United States Lime & Minerals, Inc. (NASDAQ:USLM) as an investment, we believe certain AI stocks offer greater upside potential and carry less downside risk. Target (NYSE: TGT) has an incredible dividend history, with 50 consecutive annual dividend increases. That makes it a Dividend King, an elite group that not every company can join. Target has a strong business model that is executed well in both good times and bad. The company is currently working its way out of a bad time, but after gaining 66% in 2026, as of this writing, is there still any value left in the shares?
Target is a mass-market retailer, but it tends to focus on offering a higher-quality shopping experience. That generally means nicer stores, a more pleasant shopping environment, and higher prices than those of its main peer, Walmart (NASDAQ: WMT), which has an everyday low-price focus. As elevated inflation levels pressured consumers' budgets, Target was out of step with the market.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
As consumers shifted to lower cost competitors, its revenues and earnings fell. Investors dumped the stock with such vigor that it seemed to suggest a belief that Target would never be able to adjust. At one point, the stock was down nearly 70% from its 2021 high. But a company doesn't join the ranks of Dividend Kings by accident, and the retailer got to work on a turnaround plan. That plan began to bear fruit in 2026, leading to renewed market interest in the stock. In the first quarter, sales rose 6.7%, with same-store sales up 4.4%. The second quarter proved that it wasn't a fluke, with sales up 5.3% and same-store sales rising by 3.8%.
That 66% price advance is a very big move in a very short period of time. In fact, it has pushed the company's price-to-sales and price-to-earnings ratios above their five-year averages. That suggests the big value opportunity here is gone, but you have to keep in mind that the stock was deeply depressed due to weak financial performance. So the five-year averages could be skewed low.

Let's call this a teachable investing moment.
And I am going to use Walmart (WMT) as the subject.
There's nothing fundamentally wrong with Walmart — that's an important point here. I know you saw the stock get dinged on Thursday post-earnings and have the chart up on your screen next to global bond yields right now.
There are two reasons for the pullback in Walmart, and they have nothing to do with fundamentals — but it's all part of the investing game.
Walmart has operated darn near perfectly for going on more than two years. Estimates are being crushed every quarter. Every outlook has generally pummeled estimates. Sales and profits have been off the charts. And the stock has run hard. Expectations have been elevated. Wall Street profit estimates have gone up.

Given Oracle's (ORCL) strong growth and low valuation, along with the fact that it's benefiting a great deal from the ongoing AI revolution, Oracle's stock looks like a good buy for both value investors and growth investors. What's more, renowned investor Paul Tudor Jones acquired a sizable position in ORCL stock last quarter, while multiple, well-known investment banks and Zacks, a prominent research firm, are upbeat on the shares.
In Oracle's fiscal fourth quarter that ended in May, its revenue jumped 21% versus the same period a year earlier to $19.2 billion, while its earnings per share, excluding certain items, soared 24% year-over-year (YoY) to $2.11. Moreover, propelled largely by the AI Boom, its total cloud revenue climbed 47% YoY to $9.9 billion. Also noteworthy was that its remaining performance obligations (RPO), which include preferred revenue and backlog, jumped 363% YoY to a very impressive $638 billion.

Eagle Capital Management, an investment management company, released its second quarter 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. In the quarter, Eagle Capital Management discussed how enthusiasm around AI capital spending has driven strong S&P 500 earnings growth while also increasing risks from elevated valuations, concentrated demand, and aggressive investment ***** umptions. Eagle remains a strong believer in AI but prefers constructing a portfolio that can perform across multiple outcomes rather than relying on one forecast. The firm believes current earnings can overstate underlying economics because semiconductor equipment is depreciated over several years, while free cash flow growth remains much weaker. It also expects competition and additional capacity across AI labs, hyperscalers, and semiconductors to eventually create winners and losers. These dynamics are encouraging Eagle to recycle capital toward attractive opportunities outside the most crowded AI trades while maintaining selective exposure to high quality beneficiaries. The portfolio trades at a 20% market discount with faster expected EPS growth. Please review the Strategy's top five holdings for key selections.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Eagle Capital Management highlighted SAP SE (NYSE:SAP). SAP SE (NYSE:SAP) provides enterprise application and business solutions worldwide. On August 18, 2026, SAP SE (NYSE:SAP) closed at $210.47 per share. One-month return of SAP SE (NYSE:SAP) was 41.49% and its shares gained 22.77% over the past 52 weeks. SAP SE (NYSE:SAP) has a market capitalization of $246.79 billion.
Eagle Capital Management stated the following regarding SAP SE (NYSE:SAP) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Software is controversial due to fears of Al-driven disruption. Al makes it easier to build software and will change workflows in how it is used. We believe there will be heightened competition and greater separation between winners and losers over the coming years. The industry is deservedly trading at a higher risk premium, but within the market there are plenty of mispricings.
SAP SE (NYSE:SAP) is the world's largest provider of ERP software. It is mission-critical and sticky. It will face tougher competition in peripheral products, but its core should grow rapidly over the next five years as it migrates customers to its modern platform. We expect EPS growth in the high teens, driven by revenue growth, operating leverage, and share buybacks."

Palantir CEO Alex Karp on Monday once again warned that AI frontier labs are too untrustworthy for enterprises.
The CEO, who famously studied philosophy and earned a PhD in social theory, implied in Palantir's quarterly shareholder letter that these were the kinds of capitalists who gave rise to Marxist socialism.
"There are Marxist overtones and undertones to our business," he wrote in a letter to shareholders about Palantir's outstanding quarter. "Others, including many of those building large language models, intend, knowingly or otherwise, to capture the means of production of their purported partners."
To be clear, AI labs have hardly cornered Palantir out of the market. Quite the opposite. The skyrocketing use of AI helped Palantir achieve record-breaking results. For its second quarter, the company reported $1.9 billion in revenue, up 93% over the year-ago quarter, and $1.1 billion in profit, "more profit in a single quarter than we did in total revenue in the same period the year before," he wrote.
During the quarterly conference call with Wall Street **** ysts, he explained his **** ogy further, relying heavily on a sort of "tech bro patriot" jargon common among defense tech companies. (Palantir's senior leadership is entirely male.)

Bitcoin faced a fresh downside warning Thursday after economist and longtime crypto critic Peter Schiff said the selloff spreading through technology stocks could eventually reach the broader U.S. market and hit Bitcoin even harder.
"The entire U.S. stock market is overpriced, not just tech. I also expect a much bigger selloff in Bitcoin," Schiff wrote on X as technology names came under pressure.
His warning arrived while the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up more than 400 points despite heavier losses across the technology sector. Schiff viewed that split as temporary, arguing that broader indices had not yet absorbed the same correction already moving through higher-valued tech companies.

Stockpiling physical cash may feel secure, but it's not the best idea. Saving money this way is a recipe for lost, damaged, or stolen cash. Not to mention, those stacks of bills won't earn any interest.
If you want to save, protect, and grow your money, keeping physical cash isn't the best way to do it. Instead, consider a secure and insured account that also allows your balance to earn interest.
Here are seven smart places to keep cash savings.
Checking accounts are common, in part because they're so practical. They make it easy to withdraw and deposit money, pay bills, and write checks. However, what makes them ideal for daily money management makes them a less optimal choice for saving money.

Tesla shares tumbled on Thursday after the EV maker reported lower-than-expected quarterly profit despite revenue exceeding estimates.
The company burned through more than $1 billion in cash as it upped investments in Robotaxi, Optimus and semiconductor manufacturing.
Tesla (TSLA) shares plummeted Thursday after the electric vehicle maker's quarterly earnings missed estimates as infrastructure spending ballooned.
The stock fell nearly 15% to around $320, leading S&P 500 decliners and trading at its lowest level in nearly a year. Tesla stock has now lost 29% of its value since the start of 2026, making it the worst performer among the Magnificent Seven.
Tesla on Wednesday afternoon reported second-quarter profit of 33 cents a share, an 18% decrease from last year's quarter and well short of the 55 cents Wall Street had forecast. Revenue increased 26% to $28.2 billion, surpassing expectations. The company's gross margins contracted by more than 2 percentage points to 16.9% as regulatory credit revenue declined and the average selling price of its cars fell.

Tesla (TSLA) reported that its electric vehicle (EV) sales jumped in the second quarter, as the firm is likely benefiting from higher demand for EVs amid higher gasoline prices. And in a sign that the automaker expects the latter trend to continue for some time, Elon Musk's company reportedly plans to increase production at its German auto plants.
Still, with Tesla's self-driving technology and robotaxi initiatives underwhelming in many respects and the shares still changing hands at an extremely high valuation, TSLA stock looks very expensive. Further, given its poor execution in these areas, there's a sizeable risk that its newer initiatives, on which it's expected to spend large amounts of money, will not produce favorable results. In light of these points, the shares do not look appealing.

Apple accused OpenAI on Friday of telling Apple employees interviewing for jobs to bring confidential prototypes, engineering artifacts and hardware components to interviews as part of an effort to accelerate the artificial intelligence company's push into consumer devices.
The allegation is among the most explosive claims in a sweeping trade secrets lawsuit Apple filed in federal court against OpenAI, former Apple executives and engineers, accusing them of systematically misappropriating confidential information to build OpenAI's hardware business.
"At Apple, our teams are constantly developing breakthrough technologies to create the best products and services in the world, and protecting their work and intellectual property is something we take very seriously," an Apple spokesperson said in a statement to FOX Business.
"Recently, significant evidence has emerged suggesting individuals employed by OpenAI wrongfully took Apple's secret and confidential information regarding our unreleased technologies, processes, and products.
