Aran Murphy had his first viral moment. After hitting the red carpet for his new show, Youth, social media users pointed out how similar the 19-year-old up-and-coming actor's mannerisms are to those of Oscar winner Cillian Murphy, Aran's father. "I knew who his dad was before I even heard him," adds one commenter underneath Aran's video interview, which took place on September 11.
Aran has a big year ahead, with a number of projects set to hit the small and big screen. Keep scrolling to get to know Cillian's sons, Aran and Malachy, whom he shares with his wife, artist Yvonne McGuinness. Though Cillian famously avoids the spotlight, he's shared several details about his family life and his son's career over the years.
Aran is Cillian's youngest son, born in July 2007. After spending the first few years of his life in London, Aran moved with his family to Dublin in 2015, per The Telegraph.

Aran caught the acting bug early. He was 11 years old when he made his acting debut in the one-boy play Hamnet — not to be confused with the award-winning 2025 film. Cillian praised Aran's approach to acting during an interview with The Guardian.

BERLIN — Caitlin Clark extended her hand to a United States teammate in the first quarter of the 2026 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup quarterfinal game against Hungary. It was a gesture of appreciation for the connection that had just occurred.
Seconds earlier, Paige Bueckers recorded a steal from Hungary's Yvonne Turner. Bueckers' pass met Clark, and like clockwork, she was off. Clark found her way to the paint where 6-foot-4 Dorka Juhasz stood as the last line of defense. Faced with an easy decision, Clark dished the ball to Angel Reese, who went up for the layup with two seconds to go, bringing the U.S. to the end of the first quarter with a 36-12 lead.
As Clark reached out her hand, Reese met it with simplicity and normalcy. This would be the first of four total ****** ists between Clark and Reese in an overwhelming 108-56 U.S. victory.
In a world that continues to divide these two athletes, the World Cup has offered another viewpoint, one that seems all the more true. It is a stage that presents these women as selfless competitors, and more simply as teammates.
In a post-game interview with TNT, Reese remarked on her connection with Clark, saying "We've played against each other so many times, so I'm sure we know each other's game like the back of each other's hand."

Aug 18 (Reuters) - As opening statements get underway in a landmark trial over claims that Meta Platforms misled the public about the safety of Instagram and Facebook for young users and violated child privacy laws, one of the biggest fights in the case has ‌already been resolved: whether a bipartisan group of U.S. states could present their claims together.
The states pushed for a single trial covering state consumer ‌protection and federal privacy claims brought by 29 attorneys general, while Meta argued for a series of smaller trials grouping states that have similar laws.
The fight was about more than courtroom logistics. The states argued that the case centers on company-wide decisions affecting young users across the country and seeks nationwide changes to Meta's platforms, and that jurors should hear a single story about Meta's actions. Meta countered that jurors should evaluate states' claims separately because the underlying laws differ and warned that a combined proceeding could blur important distinctions among the claims.
Ultimately, U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers adopted a hybrid approach for the multi-week trial, allowing Colorado, California, Kentucky and New Jersey to try their state law claims together, while also including ‌the federal law claims brought by all of the states. Although Rogers will decide the case, she appointed an advisory jury whose findings may inform her final ruling.

Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:META) is one of the top stocks to buy according to Whale Rock Capital Management. On June 30, Reuters reported that a federal judge in Oakland, California, rejected Meta Platforms Inc.'s (NASDAQ:META) attempt to dismiss a lawsuit filed by dozens of US state attorneys general, who accuse the company of intentionally designing Facebook and Instagram to be addictive to children while hiding the resulting harm from the public.

US District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers issued the ruling late on Monday (June 29) night, said Reuters. It added that the judge denied Meta's motion to dismiss claims tied to deception, unfair business practices, and violations of the federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). COPPA requires companies to get parental consent before collecting data from children under 13.
On the COPPA issue specifically, the judge found that it was undisputed that Meta failed to properly notify parents or obtain their consent as the law requires. The 38-page ruling stated that there remain real factual disagreements that a jury needs to resolve, including whether Meta's platforms are actually addictive, whether the company falsely denied designing them that way, and whether it partly targeted children with these features, Reuters noted.
Reuters added that the judge pointed to internal Meta statements claiming its platforms were not built to cause compulsive use among teens. The judge said a jury could reasonably conclude those statements were misleading if evidence shows the platforms were in fact engineered that way.

DETROIT (AP) — Jerry Esters proudly displays the American flag each day on his Detroit home. A few miles away, Yvonne Pistochini says there is no scenario under which she would allow the Stars and Stripes to cast its shadow where she lives.
Both are Black.
For Esters, the flag represents the opportunities that allowed the great-great-grandson of slaves to find success and flourish. Pistochini, 79, simply says the America identified by the flag is not the same country she saw growing up.
Americans' views of "Old Glory" are divided by politics, age and race, according to a new survey conducted by The ***** ociated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research ahead of the nation's 250th birthday celebration.
Republicans and older, white adults are especially likely to say they fly the American flag, while younger Democrats and Black adults are more likely to say they don't fly it. Views of the flag — and whether it's a unifying or divisive symbol — track with other deep divisions among Americans, who see their country's history and accomplishments very differently.
