Chidi Njokuani will compete at UFC 330 after all.
On Wednesday, the promotion announced via social media that Joel Alvarez is set to step in on short notice to face Njokuani at UFC 330 in Philadelphia. The event takes place Aug. 15 at Xfinity Mobile Arena and streams exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S.

Alvarez steps in for Geoff Neal who was forced to withdraw from the bout. After a 7-2 run at lightweight that — including seven finishes — Alvarez made the move up to the welterweight division, winning his 170-pound debut via decision against Vicente Luque at UFC Rio this past October. "El Fenomeno" would have a rough go in his sophomore welterweight appearance as he was dominated and stopped by former Bellator champ Yaroslav Amosov at UFC 328 in May.
Njokuani remains on the card in hopes of snapping a two-fight skid, including a 69-second submission loss to Jake Matthews at UFC Nashville in July 2025, and a unanimous decision loss to Carlos Leal at February's UFC Houston event.

Michael Oliveira had perhaps the most anticipated of the nine debuts at UFC Fight Night 283, and he delivered against Oban Elliott.
Oliveira (10-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) found his range early in the welterweight bout with Elliott (12-5 MMA, 3-3 UFC) on Saturday at Belgrade Arena in Serbia. He scored a quick knockdown courtesy of the jab, then shortly after got another knockdown with an overhand left, leading to swarm of ground strikes for the knockout at the 1:49 mark of Round 1.

Following his debut performance, an elated Oliveira said this is just the beginning of his planned takeover of the 170-pound division – even teasing a quick turnaround for UFC 330 on Aug. 15.
I wanted to show Dana I belong here and how comfortable I am here, and I think today showed that I'm a true fighter," Oliveira said through an interpreter in his post-fight interview with Michael Bisping. "They had offered me (Chidi Njokuani), and I think I want to take that fight."

The next UFC ******* le fights take place at UFC 330. That event, which is scheduled for August 15 at Philadelphia’s Xfinity Mobile Arena, will see two UFC belts on the line.
