Former U.S. Olympian David Hearn and his attorneys returned to court to urge the judge who previously oversaw his Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool vandalism case to formally bar federal prosecutors from seeking new charges against him.
In late July, the D.C. U.S. Attorney's Office moved to dismiss the criminal case against Hearn in a filing that acknowledged damage to the Reflecting Pool "was the result of flawed installation" and not the work of vandals -- prompting outrage from President Donald Trump.

But the motion from U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro asked the judge overseeing Hearn's case, Todd Edelman, to dismiss the indictment "without prejudice," which would leave the door open for prosecutors to potentially seek to re-charge Hearn.
Hearn's attorneys have argued a series of statements from Trump and other officials in the weeks after Pirro's motion that falsely accused him and others of vandalizing the pool warrants dismissal of the case "with prejudice" -- effectively shutting the door for prosecutors to charge him again.

Portland Thorns midfielder Olivia Moultrie has been placed on the season-ending injury list because of an ACL injury, the National Women's Soccer League team announced Tuesday.
Moultrie, who also plays for the U.S. national team, injured her right knee during training last week, the team said.
"Heartbroken doesn't even begin to sum up all of the feelings right now," Moultrie posted to Instagram. "To be taken away from something you love more than anything is a feeling I never wanted to experience. I know there is a reason this path has been chosen for me and I can't promise everything but I can promise I'll be back and I'll be better."
Moultrie, 20, had five goals and five ******* ists for the Thorns this season. She signed with Portland in 2021 after she successfully sued the NWSL over a rule prohibiting teams from signing players under 18.
"Olivia is one of the most driven players I have been around, and she will use that drive during her recovery and rehabilitation," Jeff Agoos, president and general manager of the Thorns, said in a statement released by the team. "She has our full support and every resource this club can put behind her."

Portland Thorns and USWNT midfielder Olivia Moultrie suffered an ACL injury to her right knee in training last week and has been ruled out for the remainder of the NWSL season.
The 20-year-old Moultrie, who joined the Thorns in 2021 and has made 79 starts for the club, has been placed on the Season-Ending Injury (SEI) list. Through 16 games this season, she scored five goals and registered five ******* ists.
"Olivia is one of the most driven players I have been around, and she will use that drive during her recovery and rehabilitation," said Thorns president and general manager of soccer operations Jeff Agoos. "She has our full support and every resource this club can put behind her."
Internationally, Moultrie has represented the United States 18 times since getting her first call up in 2023. She has scored five times in three USWNT victories.
The injury will also keep Moultrie out of the Concacaf Women's Championship, which will begin in November in Texas. That tournament will act as the qualifying process for the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil next summer and the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
