Nottinghamshire have signed New Zealand A international fast bowler Fraser Sheat as an overseas player for the final five County Championship games of the season.
The 28-year-old from Canterbury, who played twice for Glamorgan in 2024, is in line to mark his return to English county cricket on Thursday as Notts play Warwickshire, one of their two main Division One ******* le rivals, in a meeting of third against first at Edgbaston.
"Fraser will add to our seam resources at a key point in the season," said Nottinghamshire head coach Peter Moores, who are without England paceman Josh Tongue on Thursday.
"Six games in six weeks is a heavy workload in the last part of this season and to have depth in our seam bowling will be key to staying competitive in every game. This feels like a great opportunity for Fraser."
Sheat, who was a runner-up in New Zealand's T20 Super Smash last winter, has not played any competitive cricket since April, when he was called up by the touring New Zealand A squad to play Sri Lanka A in Hambantota in April, taking one wicket and making a useful 61 not out.

Not only were current Alabama Crimson Tide baseball players selected in the 2026 MLB draft, but a few committed to play for the program next season were as well.
Among those were a pair of transfer portal additions, the first of which was selected in the opening rounds Saturday night in Dylan Marionneaux. The Northwestern State transfer was selected in the fourth round, taken by the Chicago Cubs with the No. 126 pick overall.
In addition to Marionneaux, Garrett Lambert also came off the board early Sunday. The Mercer transfer was drafted by the Colorado Rockies, selected with the No. 165 overall pick in the sixth round.
Alabama also had one of their top high school commits selected as well in Hudson DeVaughan, who was drafted in the 19th round at pick No. 569 overall by the Kansas City Royals. DeVaughan is a right-handed pitcher out of Mooresville High School in Indiana, ranking as the nation's No. 125 overall player in the 2026 class by Perfect Game.
All three will likely be names to watch in the coming days and weeks to see whether they sign professionally with those teams or not. If they do not sign, each will then likely play a significant role for the Crimson Tide in 2027.

NASCAR has announced plans for a public celebration of life service for the late two-time Cup Series champion Kyle Busch.
Charlotte Motor Speedway will be the host of the memorial on Friday, Oct. 9 after that day's Craftsman Truck Series race. NASCAR says the celebration of life will be free to attend and more information is to come.
Busch ‒ the all-time winningest driver across NASCAR's top three national touring circuits with 234 combined victories ‒ died suddenly on May 21 at the age of 41 at the Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. The day before, he had become unresponsive and was coughing up blood at a racing simulator facility in Concord, North Carolina.
He was cremated at the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville, North Carolina. A private memorial service was held on June 2. Hours later, Busch's 11-year-old son Brexton was in his racecar, running practice laps at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
