DANVILLE — With the first day of practice for every Illinois prep football team, the Danville Vikings were one of the first on the field.
The Vikings started its season with a morning practice at Ned Whitesell Field on Wednesday.
"I was looking up a Texas team that was doing a midnight madness, so I don't think that it matters where you start," Danville head coach Marcus Forrest said. "The biggest reason why it is different for everyone is how many days that you have to prepare. In understanding that the preparation days are different, you figure out that things will get shortened and what time you have spent. It has been beneficial because they go in camp and get ready to play. Everything has been real consistent."
The early start is also a thing that has been consistent in the Vikings' summer, which makes Wednesday's practice just
"I know there are differences for a lot of kids because we are going on a Wednesday and we are going in the morning," Forrest said. "It is something that we were working on in the summer, so being able to do that has been consistent for us."

It seems like a good bet Joe Rogan will not be voting for James Talarico (D).
The podcast star-turned-Texan said he does not want The Lone Star state to be controlled by Democrats on the Tuesday episode of his show.
"The liberals who want to turn Texas Blue, like, don'tttt," Rogan pleaded. "You're going to ruin it. You're going to ruin it for you, too."
He told guest his guest, Animal Planet star Forrest Galante, the liberals in Texas are "way less crazy" than those in Los Angeles or New York. But he said would still prefer Texas stay Red, and only have a few dashes of Blue mixed in.
"There's a saying about Austin: Keep Austin Weird and Surrounded,'" Rogan said.

The Tennessee high school football season got a little closer this week as TSSAA football padded practices began July 27.

Enterprise AI agents were meant to be the breakout software offering for 2026, yet instead they've become one of the major sources of buyer distrust. According to Anaconda and Forrester research, over 88% of AI agent pilots never reach production, as confirmed by independent polls from a16z and MIT Sloan's CIO panel, while Gartner predicts that more than 40% of agentic AI initiatives will be discontinued entirely by 2027 due to questionable ROI.
Salesforce Inc. (NYSE:CRM) walked into the gap between agent hype and agent reality when it placed its growth narrative on Agentforce, and by 2026, that bet has made Salesforce Inc. (NYSE:CRM) to Sector Weight from Outperform on July 9, removing its price target completely and citing poor customer feedback on Agentforce in particular. According to **** yst Jackson Ader, the released data doesn't yet indicate growing momentum, and a recent CIO survey found Salesforce Inc. (NYSE:CRM) to be "a standout for the wrong reasons."
That said, this interpretation is not uniform, and the debate on the market is serious. On July 14, Goldman Sachs reiterated its Buy rating and $242 price target, expecting organic growth to pick up in the third quarter as more details on AI monetization become available at Salesforce's Agentforce event in September. Goldman's more constructive reading is based on management's own acknowledgment of headwinds in Tableau, Commerce, and Marketing, which the firm sees as realistic rather than concerning, arguing that Salesforce Inc. (NYSE:CRM) is being open about a 12-to-24-month drag on its organic growth algorithm rather than covering it up.
Salesforce Inc. (NYSE:CRM)'s historical valuation decline looks to be the most mispriced aspect of the market story. Shares are currently trading at a compressed forward earnings multiple of only 10.83x, a substantial drop from the stock's five-year historical average of over 127x. The disparity is even more obvious when compared to prominent peers such as ServiceNow, which trades at a forward P/E of around 20.43x and requires consistent revenue growth above 18% through 2028 to maintain its valuation premium. Salesforce's current valuation of less than 11x forecast earnings is in near-total deadlock, despite the company's strong free cash flow generation and substantial enterprise data integration.

Could Charlotte some day serve as the center of the football universe?
On Thursday morning, right before the start of training camp, Tepper Sports & Entertainment rolled out a few exciting milestones for Bank of America Stadium. Not only did the organization solidify a fresh naming rights deal for the venue, but they also released new renderings of their upcoming renovations.
The announcement was celebrated in a "fireside chat" later that evening—and starred team owner David Tepper, Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. And given the development of both the stadium and the city, Goodell hinted at Charlotte playing host to a future Super Bowl.
“I think that’s probably somewhere down the line in the future,” Goodell stated, via Forrest Tucker of WBTV. “As far as the Super Bowl is concerned, there is no question that if this city keeps growing the way that it is it’s certainty Super Bowl quality.”
Goodell also wouldn't rule out bringing the NFL draft to town.

Celtic Football Club is delighted to confirm the latest group of Academy youngsters who have signed their first professional contracts with the club.
For any young player in the Academy, the hope and aim is to reach the first-team and follow in the footsteps of many players who have made that journey.
And that journey has officially begun for a number of our youngsters, who this summer signed their first terms as professional players.
Ahead of the 2026/27 campaign getting underway, Jacob Cameron, Lennon Watt, Warren Lyall, Cayden Anderson, Shay Forrester, Mark Harris, Jake Clements and Rhys Brownlie are the latest group to sign three-year deals with the club.

The authorities in Australia are investigating the origins of mysterious large spheres that washed up on a beach in northern Queensland this weekend.
The six solid objects discovered on Forrest Beach, to the north of Townsville, are thought to be **** e debris, and the Australian **** e Agency (ASA) is now trying to determine where they came from. The BBC has approached the agency for comment.
Crews in protective suits were reportedly seen placing the spheres in hazmat barrels under police guard, over concerns they may contain hazardous substances.
Queensland's fire department said on Sunday that a 50m exclusion zone remained in place, urging anyone who found a suspicious object in the area not to touch them.
It said members of the public who encounter them should immediately move away and call the emergency services.

Ultra-marathoner Tomasz Sobania is entering the final stretch of a challenge that many think is impossible.
After more than a month on the road, thousands of miles traveled, and nearly 1,300 marathon miles logged on foot, Sobania — known as the "Polish Forrest Gump" — is closing in on his goal of running 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 consecutive days.
Sobania started running through Massachusetts this morning from the Boston 25 studios and has just a handful of states left before reaching the finish line in New York City on June 28.
His journey began in San Francisco on May 10, quickly moving through the Pacific Northwest before completing Alaska and Hawaii back-to-back in under a week.
By the end, Sobania will have run more than 1,300 miles while traveling across all 50 states in less than two months.

Former Oklahoma State wrestling national champion Wyatt Hendrickson earned a spot on the USA World Team with a win over Mason Parris in the best-of-three 125-kilogram bout at Final X on Friday night at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Another Cowboy national champ, sophomore-to-be Jax Forrest, pushed his Final X series to the decisive third match, but was defeated by Penn State’s Marcus Blaze for the spot at 61 kg.
Zahid Valencia, who did not wrestle at OSU but is a part of the Cowboy Regional Training Center, also was defeated one win shy of qualifying for the World Team. Kyle Dake defeated Valencia in the decisive match to earn the 86 kg spot.
Hendrickson also earned a spot on Team USA last year, but did not medal at the World Championships.
This year’s World Championships are set for Oct. 24-Nov. 1 in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Marcus Blaze will be going to his first Senior World Championships.
The Penn State wrestling sophomore-to-be gutted out impressive victories over NCAA champ and fellow phenom Jax Forrest on Friday, June 19 at the Final X event in the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Blaze, who finished fourth behind Forrest at the March NCAA Championships, produced brilliant scoring moves toward the end of his first- and third-match victories over Forrest in their 61 kilogram weight class (about 134 pounds).
Blaze won their last bout, 5-2, to make Team USA along with four other Penn State-related wrestlers. The other winners were three-time NCAA champ Zain Retherford at 70 kg, two-time NCAA champ Levi Haines at 79 kg and Nittany Lion Wrestling Club members Kyle Dake (86 kg) and Kyle Snyder (97 kg).
Blaze, a two-time age-group world champ, made the senior world team for the first time. He and the other winners will compete in October's Senior World Championships in Kazakhstan.

STATES-BOUND: Congratulations to Ken Fernandes for qualifying for the Golf State Tournament! He finished in sixth place at today's Section I Championship. Great work by Jonathan Forrest, who finished in 13th place and was recognized with All-Section honors.
