On an episode of the Behind The Table podcast, Hostin claimed that Erivo called her and said: "'Sis, I know you and I know your heart and your life's work has been about protecting women and children. But, the clip that I saw doesn't reflect who you are.'"
Erivo also reportedly advised Hostin to "lead with empathy, so that people can receive the message about the law".
During the episode, she said: "It's important to understand why the DA did not bring a case" against them in 2024.

Rihanna appears to have delivered a very pointed response after Magic Johnson's child EJ Johnson complained about allegedly having to wait for the superstar at Paris Fashion Week.
The 38-year-old singer was among the A-list guests at Dior's Spring/Summer 2027 show on September 29, joining stars including Jennifer Lawrence, Anya Taylor-Joy and Cynthia Erivo on the front row.
But according to EJ, 34, Rihanna's arrival came considerably later than expected – and allegedly pushed back the start of the entire show.

Following New York City, London, and Milan, the French capital is welcoming a flurry of industry professionals and front-row stars alike, all eager to see what's next for our favorite designers.
The schedule started off strong on Monday, with a lineup that opened with 2026 LVMH Prize winner Julie Kegels and closed with avant-garde, industry-favorite Matières Fécales. Rihanna was spotted at the latter, making a grand, fashionably-late entrance in a gold tinsel two-piece, while fellow A-listers—Jennifer Lawrence, Tate McRae, Kendall Jenner with Jacob Elordi, Katie Holmes with Jason Bard Yarmosky, Alexa Chung, and Gabbriette—settled into their hotels and toasted the week ahead at parties and dinners galore.

Apple Martin has officially gone from fashion campaign star to runway model. The 22-year-old daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin made her runway debut on Thursday, Oct. 1, stepping onto the catwalk for Chloé's Spring/Summer 2027 show during Paris Fashion Week.
For the milestone moment, Martin wore an airy white maxi dress that leaned fully into the romantic, free-spirited aesthetic **** ociated with Chloé under creative director Chemena Kamali.

Amelia Dimoldenberg has announced she will end Chicken Shop Date after more than a decade.
The presenter, known for her off-the-wall questions and deadpan silences, revealed the news in an Instagram post.
She has become one of the UK's best-known content creators through the web series, which features interviews with rappers, actors and celebrities framed as a "date" with the host.
While "all good dates must come to an end", Dimoldenberg told fans to expect "a few final dates" before the show officially ends.

The timing has fueled speculation that something changed between the co-stars. However, insiders insist the distance has less to do with bad blood and more to do with both women reclaiming their individual careers after months of living in the Wicked spotlight.
According to RadarOnline, Grande and Erivo intentionally decided to pull back after the whirlwind press tour surrounding "Wicked" and "Wicked: For Good," which reportedly earned a combined $1.2 billion at the global box office.
"The whole Wicked press tour became way bigger than anyone expected," a source told RadarOnline. "It stopped being just promo and turned into this massive online obsession with their friendship."
The insider added, "They were constantly together, constantly praising each other, and it created this idea that they were inseparable in real life as well as on screen."
