There’s never a dull day in the world of Jordan Spieth. The three-time major-winning master of disaster has become infamous for getting himself in (and out) of tight spots over the years. That tendency is amplified at the U.S. Open, where the brutal setups turn even golf’s most conservative players into scrambling lunatics. Not to be outdone, Spieth jumpstarted the “Jordan Spieth Experience” during his range session at Shinnecock on Monday, nearly smoking a random passerby in the head with an errant shot. Take it away, Jordan.

“37, three-degree cut—OH GOD!” Spieth was seen saying by cameras trained on his range bay, perhaps in anticipation of this very thing. “Jesus,” the 2015 U.S. Open champ continued, slumping forward in relief. “Dude, that almost smoked him in the head … I started looking down and he’s walking right at that ball. Wooo!”
Classic Spieth, but in his defense, the northerly wind on Monday prompted many pros to abandon their practce rounds entirely. Shinnecock, which was designed with its location’s persistent southwestern blow in mind, becomes virtually unplayable when the wind shifts to the north. Needless to say, if you’re headed out to the tournament this week, make sure to keep your head on swivel, especially if you hear “now driving … JORDAN SPIETH!”
