BOYS SOCCER
South Webster 4, Waverly 0
In a SOC II match that was held in South Webster, the South Webster Jeeps' boys soccer program emerged out of South Webster Soccer Field with a 4-0 victory over Waverly to improve its overall record to 5-1-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the SOC II Thursday evening.
South Webster got on the board twice in the first 15 minutes of play as standout attacker Cole Belford scored in the opening minute of play off of a Kaden Perkins find up to the midfield line, then connected again in the 15th minute after driving in a ball that Waverly attempted to clear, giving the Jeeps a 2-0 halftime advantage.

Selena Gomez can't wait to have a baby with her husband, Benny Blanco, whom she married in 2025.
In a recent Instagram story, the singer's text has sparked speculation about whether the singer and actress is craving her own family.
In an Instagram story, Gomez is seen with a newborn baby. Below the photo, Gomez revealingly wrote, "One day". Her words point to a future where she would have a baby of her own with her husband, Benny Blanco.
According to People, Gomez has also previously shared her desire to become a mother. Last October, the "Only Murders In The Building" actress celebrated her role on the "Wizards of Waverly Place" sequel series, "Wizards Beyond Waverly Place". Referring to the character she plays, Gomez wrote, "Alex Russo is a mommy. Hopefully one day that'll be me." She included a clip from her final episode on the Disney+ series.
Additionally, the couple appeared on the Jay Shetty show and gushed about how they couldn't wait to start a family. "I don't know what will happen, obviously, but I love children," Gomez said. "I love making [children] laugh; they're just so sweet. So absolutely, when that day comes, I'm so excited for it."

Only Murders In The Building and Waverly Place star Selena Gomez is sounding fairly ******* off this week, denouncing a recent fraud lawsuit launched against her mental health wellness brand Wondermind. Per People, the lawsuit was aimed at Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey, and former Wondermind co-CEO Daniella Pierson, claiming the trio "falsely represented" the company's "infrastructure, leadership, and resources" while soliciting more than a million dollars in investments—which is a fancy way to say that there have been a lot of allegations that, while the company sold itself as being able to capitalize on Gomez's massive celebrity and social media following (something that's made her cosmetics company Rare Beauty a reportedly billion-dollar business), in actuality, it was being run almost entirely by Teefey, with very little involvement from her famous daughter.
All of this was laid out in a fairly brutal September 2025 article in The Cut, which talked to several anonymous former Wondermind employees about the not-especially-pleasant-sounding experience of working for Teefey, who the article portrayed as unwell, disorganized, and generally not up to the strain of running a company alone. (Pierson, founder of The Newsette—and the subject of her own takedown article in Forbes last year—exited Wondermind a year after its 2021 founding, reportedly after conflict with Teefey.) The lawsuit says investors got seriously worried about getting their money back when Forbes ran a report back in May 2025 that the company had failed to pay its employees; Gomez reportedly stepped in to cover the debts.
(Meanwhile, if you're wondering what Wondermind—which bills itself as "The World's First Mental Fitness Ecosystem—actually does or makes, the answer is: Not very much, as far as we can tell. The site has run a blog, which has only intermittently been updated in recent years, and ran two short-lived podcasts in the past. But plans for snack offerings, a docuseries about Venus Williams, an app, and film projects have all failed to materialize. Many of the staffers quoted in The Cut article noted that Teefey—whose biggest professional success was pretty objectively the period where she served as Gomez's manager in the early years of her career, before being fired by her daughter in 2014—was good at suggesting projects, but not at actually bringing them to fruition.)
Gomez, like we said, sounds pretty angry to be getting her name and brand dragged through the mud with all this. Per People, her legal team put out a statement this weekend, stating that "The allegations that Selena Gomez engaged in any way whatsoever in any purported 'fraud' or other wrongdoing are completely meritless, both factually and legally. We will vigorously defend these false allegations and indeed are filing a motion to dismiss the baseless claims against her." Teefey and Pierson, both named as co-defendants, haven't made public statements as of yet.

Growing up in the spotlight doesn't always guarantee lifelong success, but for a select group of former child stars, early fame became the foundation for extraordinary wealth.
From billion-dollar beauty brands to cryptocurrency empires and sports franchises, these celebrities transformed childhood careers into multimillion-dollar — and in some cases billionaire — business empires.
Here's a look at some of the richest former child stars today.
Long before she became one of the world's biggest pop stars and entrepreneurs, Selena Gomez was winning over audiences on Barney & Friends before landing her breakout Disney Channel role on Wizards of Waverly Place.
Today, much of her fortune comes from Rare Beauty, the cosmetics brand she launched in 2020. While Bloomberg previously estimated her wealth at more than $1 billion, Forbes now values her net worth at around $700 million, making her one of the richest entertainers in Hollywood. Rare Beauty remains the largest contributor to her fortune, alongside earnings from music, acting, endorsements and Only Murders in the Building.

John Goodman's years-long health transformation is attracting fresh attention after actor David DeLuise shared an unexpected photograph from a grocery store encounter.
The casual selfie, posted August 6th, shows the 74-year-old Roseanne star smiling beside DeLuise in a supermarket aisle. Some commenters said they initially struggled to recognize Goodman, while others focused on seeing two familiar television actors together.
The photograph captures a much slimmer Goodman, but the change is far from new. He has spoken publicly for years about losing approximately 200 pounds after once approaching 400, describing the transformation as a gradual effort built around sobriety, portion control, changes to his diet and regular exercise.
Goodman has also resisted treating the weight loss as a finished project. He has described maintaining his health as an ongoing process, including periods when his exercise routine slipped and he had to recommit.
DeLuise shared the photograph after unexpectedly running into Goodman while shopping. The Wizards of Waverly Place actor called Goodman a "legend," while his post quickly filled with reactions to both the encounter and Goodman's appearance.

Remaining one of New York’s more competitive baseball regions, Section 4 features several top athletes who have elevated their games. Specifically, players from Southern Tier teams Elmira, Horseheads, Waverly and Oneonta–four teams that stand out as this year’s sectional champions.
Everything from walk-offs to dominant pitching to elite in-game decision-making has allowed these four teams the opportunity to make the most of a state tournament bid, and having surpassed some of Section 4’s toughest teams this season, it’s worth noting which baseball players' skills have stood out–skills that have come in clutch in the postseason.
Here are a few of the sectional winners that boast top stats and clutch moments:
Aedan Palmer, Elmira: Pitched a 10-strikeout game against Corning, allowing only one hit to shut out the Hawks in a 10-0 victory in game one of the Section 4 Class AAA Championship.
Logan DeMember, Elmira: Overtook game two of the Section 4 Class AAA final against Corning, holding the team to two runs, pitching 11 strikeouts. At bat, recorded three RBIs, two hits and two runs in the dominant 12-2 victory to win the series 2-0.
