Charlotte could one day host a Super Bowl, but NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the city will need more hotel rooms before it can make that happen. Goodell made the comments to Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper on Thursday night.
The Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority said the Charlotte region currently has more than 46,000 hotel rooms across 442 properties, including more than 32,000 rooms at 263 hotels in Mecklenburg County. The city's urban core includes nearly 3,900 luxury and upscale hotel rooms.

CRVA Chief Communications and Advocacy Officer Gina Sheridan said attracting a major event like the Super Bowl requires more than just increasing the number of hotel rooms.
"When you look at destinations that regularly host events of this scale, success isn't measured by room count alone," Sheridan said. "It's about having the right mix of hotels in the right locations to meet the needs of visitors, event organizers, sponsors and media while creating a seamless experience."

Ron Perlman, the gruff and grizzled actor known for his work in Sons of Anarchy and for his starring turn as monster hero ******* boy, has signed with Independent Artist Group.
The agency will also represent Perlman's production company Asylm Studios.

The Ohio High School Baseball Coaches ******* ociation announced its All-Ohio and All-District teams following the culmination of the 2026 season.
Per usual, many local players earned recognition.
In Division III, Sheridan senior first baseman/pitcher Connor Roshon and classmate Noah Wamer, a pitcher and second baseman, were second-team All-Ohio selections and Tri-Valley freshman pitcher Tanner Henry was tabbed honorable mention.
In Division V, Ridgewood sophomore outfielder Wyatt Marlatt was a second-team pick and West Muskingum sophomore pitcher/infielder Grady Dolling secured honorable mention.
Rosecrans sophomore Jacobie Balo was an honorable mention selection in Division VII.

With Elon Musk's ***** eX now embedded in the Nasdaq 100, the prospects of the rocket company have–directly or indirectly–now slipped into the stock portfolios of millions of people around the globe.

But joining the Nasdaq index has done little to convince critics, who are dubious about the lofty aims of the company. In the prospectus ahead of its offering, ***** eX said its goal is "to build the systems and technologies necessary to make life multiplanetary, to understand the true nature of the universe, and to extend the light of consciousness to the stars."

Such statements will be laughable to investors of the future, says Jeremy Grantham, co-founder of investment giant GMO. Admittedly, the billionaire British investor is known for his skepticism: He's a self-professed "permabear" and has warned AI's impact will result in "blood in the streets."
It is perhaps no surprise, then, that he is unimpressed by the (literally) out-of-this-world intentions of ***** eX. "Everyone's lining up to tell you to buy the craziest IPO in the history of man," Grantham told Morningstar's The Long View podcast in an episode released this morning, "In 50 years, they'll be telling and writing stories about ***** eX, and they'll be quoting you paragraphs from the prospectus, and you will be laughing at it."
Even the most bullish of investors might be feeling a reality check since ***** eX launched. At the time of writing, ***** eX is down 7% over the past month, hovering at around $150 a share—only slightly ahead of the $135 it targeted at launch.
Wall Street is split on how high ***** eX can fly, though they generally agree it will soar: Morgan Stanley, for example, has reportedly set the price target at $300, while Goldman Sachs's Eric Sheridan and team wrote in a note seen by Fortune that they see it closer to $205.
Sentiments among ***** ysts are, generally, positive. J.P. Morgan wrote that its target is $225 , adding it believes Elon Musk's goal of reaching $1 trillion of revenue by 2031 is possible "but requires strong execution across an ambitious timeline."

(NewsNation) — Indie distributor Neon will release "Artificial," a dramatized film about Sam Altman's brief ouster from OpenAI, after Amazon MGM Studios walked away from the project last month.
Amazon dropped the film June 19. The company has not publicly explained the decision beyond a statement to Variety saying it believed the movie "will be better served if it were released by a different studio." Neon finalized a deal for the film June 30, according to Variety.
According to Variety, "Artificial" portrays Altman as a pathological liar and Elon Musk as a villain. Podcast host Matthew Belloni, who said he read the script, told Esquire the film tackles sensitive issues within the tech industry and presents a bleak view of artificial intelligence's future.

"This is not a flattering portrait of Sam Altman. This is '[The] Social Network' kind of on steroids, because you add in not only these guys warping the culture, they could potentially end the world. And that's the message of this movie," Belloni said.

In the midst of one of Penn State football's most decisive official visit weekends, chances to look ahead towards 2028 could see few and far between. Still, with several key areas Matt Campbell wants to improve on, it is important that he can diagnose them as quickly as possible. One in particular is the QB position, where they swung and whiffed badly on several key recruits before settling on three star Will Wood.
Now, Campbelll will be looking to ensure the position's future by looking at 2028 options, which include three star recruit Drew Sheridan in the 2028 cycle. Last week, the Nittany Lions hosted the young QB, hoping to make an early impression on him. As a native of Michigan, he is in a key battleground state that Campbell wants to be successful in.
With several rival Big Ten schools such as Michigan and Michigan State pushing to have them on their squads, Penn State must be diligent in order to stay in the race. While the QB only ranks No. 33 amongst all quarterbacks, he is seen as a quarterback that Campbell can mold. In a room that could look very crowded next year, having a developmental piece could be vital for the long term future.
There are several QBs already on the Penn State big board for next year, including several four stars such as Christopher Vargas. It is important not just for Sheridan but for the Nittany Lions to see personal growth and maturity from the high school junior next season in order for them to truly follow through on their intentions.
