The ***** e Zero Sugar 400 doesn't have the Super Bowl-sized reputation of its slightly older and bigger brother, the Daytona 500.
But boy, it sure has plenty of history.
From 1959 when Daytona Beach's own Fireball Roberts claimed the first Firecracker 250 all the way to 2025 when Ryan Blaney put on a clinic in the final two laps, a who's who of NASCAR legends has won the World Center of Racing's summertime bash.

In the past two weeks, the Mets have swept two series and only lost one series. They were shut out in two of their three losses in the past 12 games, but other than that, the offense has ironically produced considerably better since losing Juan Soto. Francisco Lindor has been raking, Bo Bichette earned what I think is his first fireball of the year, Luis Torrens has gone on a power surge, and several guys who had been performing poorly are trending upwards.

Tate McRae kept the fashion moments coming long after stepping off the Lollapalooza stage, donning a lace slip micro minidress from Doen. After turning heads in multiple Ludovic de Saint Sernin looks during her performance, the pop star switched gears for an after-hours celebration, slipping into a delicate minidress by Doen while hanging out backstage with The Chainsmokers.
Tate McRae wore the Doen Evra Slip Dress in Sea Salt, a barely-there lace number that perfectly balanced sweet and sultry. It featured thin spaghetti straps, a soft scoop neckline trimmed with scalloped lace, and an all-over floral lace construction.
The piece had a romantic, lingerie-inspired feel. Its body-hugging silhouette skimmed her figure before ending at an ultra-short hemline that rode high on her thighs, making the tiny slip dress feel even more daring.
McRae paired the ivory mini with diamond stud earrings and a minimalistic bracelet, letting the intricate lace remain the focus. She wore her blonde hair in loose, tousled waves and opted for glowing makeup with bronzed skin and glossy lips. Additionally, a black shoulder bag with silver hardware added contrast to the monochrome outfit.
Photos from backstage captured the "Sports Car" singer smiling alongside Alex Pall and Drew Taggart of The Chainsmokers after her Lollapalooza set. In another playful snap, McRae was seen holding up a giant bottle of Fireball whiskey while laughing with friends. She embraced the celebratory mood after a successful weekend at the Chicago music festival.

SAN DIEGO — Right-hander Justin Martinez could face hitters as soon as next week, manager Torey Lovullo said, as his fireballing reliever continues to trend toward a return from the injured list next month.
Martinez, working his way back from Tommy John surgery, has thrown at least a dozen bullpen sessions, Lovullo said, and could face hitters in live batting practice for the first time early next week. After that, Martinez is scheduled to undergo a round of imaging, at which point he could be close to beginning a minor-league rehab ****** ignment.
“It depends on how the lives go,” Lovullo said. “I think there’s going to be a series of lives — how many, I’m not sure. But his return is sometime in August. It’s imminent. He’s charging very hard.”
Lovullo said Martinez continues to hit the upper-90s with his fastball in his side sessions.
Martinez was expected to be the third of three pitchers to return from the injured list following elbow surgery this year, but both right-hander Corbin Burnes and lefty A.J. Puk have hit road ****** ps in their rehabs.

The Washington Nationals finally had a reliever that looked good, and they sent him down. Well that is quite the oversimplification, but I did with Eddy Yean got to stay with the team after his electric debut. However, he threw 28 pitches, so he was not going to be available for a few days.
Now that he is on the 40-man roster and made that kind of first impression, there is no doubt that Eddy Yean will be back. I just hope it is sooner rather than later. The big right hander made his debut in a tough spot. Cade Cavalli just did not have it today, so Yean had to come in during the third inning with two on. He was able to stop the bleeding in that inning, and things just went from there.
Yean came in the ball game and attacked with his power stuff. That was a breath of fresh air for this bullpen. Yean’s heater averaged 97.8 MPH yesterday. The Nats bullpen just does not have that kind of velocity in it. I take a liking to big fireballers out of the bullpen, and Yean certainly fits that description. Seeing a guy who looks like a defensive tackle flirt with triple digits is pretty awesome if you ask me.
While Yean’s fastball is in the upper 90’s, his primary putaway pitch yesterday was his changeup. All three of his strikeouts came on the change, which has also been his primary whiff pitch in the minors. The pitch looks and moves a lot like his sinker, it just comes in about 8 to 9 MPH slower. That makes things really tough on hitters.
That first strikeout is a really good example of how his changeup plays. It does not have insane movement, but hitters are just out in front of the pitch. That leads to whiffs or ground ******* . Those ground ******* are a big part of Yean’s game. In the minors, his GB rate was 54.1%. Yesterday, Yean got a couple ground ball outs as well. Despite the big velocity, he projects more as a ground ball artist than a guy who gets a ton of strikeouts.

On America's 250th birthday, the Orioles celebrated in style.
The Birds' bats dazzled with some early fireworks, roughing up Reds fireballer Hunter Greene for eight runs in the first four innings, and the O's held the line from there for an 8-5 victory in Cincinnati. Brandon Young struggled early but hung in to earn his seventh win, freshly minted All-Star Adley Rutschman had a pair of doubles, and new closer Tyler Wells notched his second save in as many nights.
One might have thought the Orioles were unlucky to be the first team this season to face All-Star flamethrower Hunter Greene, who was making his season debut for the Reds after undergoing surgery in March to remove bone chips from his elbow. Greene was the hardest-throwing starting pitcher in baseball in 2025, and if you thought he might need some time to ramp up to full velocity, uh, think again. In the first inning alone, Greene fired 11 pitches clocked at over 100 mph.
But that doesn't mean the Orioles were intimidated. Gunnar Henderson lined Greene's first pitch of the year, a 100.3-mph four-seamer, straight up the middle for a single. With two outs, Pete Alonso worked a walk after a fantastic, nine-pitch at-bat, five of which were triple digit heaters. That brought up Samuel Basallo, who similarly worked the count full.
On 3-2, Greene tried to pump another fastball past Basallo. Mistake. Samuel was more than ready for it, connecting right on the barrel and smashing it deep into the right-center field seats. That, my friends, is an Earl Weaver Special. What a blast from the rookie on 100-mph heat against a tough pitcher. I like Samuel Basallo.

When the double boom rang out in New England over the weekend, shaking homes and sending pets fleeing, questions started flooding social media.
“Did anyone else hear that boom?”
“Anyone feel that?”
NASA let people know over the weekend that the cause of the commotion was a meteor, but on Monday they revealed even more stunning details.
The fireball was as heavy as an elephant and 5 feet (1.52 meter) wide and was going 42,000 mph (67,592.5 kph) when it entered Earth’s atmosphere. It broke up miles above New England on Saturday and the energy released was equivalent to about 230 tons of TNT, the agency estimated, accounting for the booms.

June 1 (Reuters) - Damage to a Blue Origin launch pad from the spectacular explosion of the company's giant New Glenn rocket during a test firing of its engines last week will "take some serious time" to repair, NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman told CNBC on Monday.
A 2028 time frame was "within the realm" of possibility, he said in an interview at CNBC's CEO Council Summit, the network reported.
The powerful two-stage vehicle erupted in a colossal fireball while bolted to the launch tower on Thursday during what was supposed to have been a routine static "hot-fire" test in preparation for its fourth flight to orbit since January 2025.
The mishap came at a critical time for the Blue Origin rocket and Amazon satellite ventures of billionaire Jeff Bezos, who is seeking to compete on a more equal footing with Elon Musk's ******* eX, the world's leading private ******* e launch service.
Company and industry sources said over the weekend that the explosion had left the launch pad "practically destroyed" and in need of repairs that engineers expect will disrupt operations for at least six months.

A meteor exploded off the coast of Massachusetts on May 30, and video and audio clips shared online captured the fireball and massive boom it caused.
NASA confirmed through satellite images that the meteor broke apart at an altitude of about 40 miles over northeastern Massachusetts at 2:06 p.m. ET.
The agency said in a statement on X that the meteor released energy equivalent to about 300 tons of TNT explosives, causing a loud noise in the area. The pieces of the meteor landed in Cape Cod Bay, NASA also said.
People as far south as Rhode Island and Cape Cod reported feeling it on the ground, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Green Fireball Explodes Above Great Lakes
A week ago, a bright green fireball shot across the sky above the Great Lakes in Michigan. At around 5:30 am, witnesses across Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and Indiana saw the meteor leave a vivid green streak until Lake Huron, where it exploded.
More than 40 individuals logged eyewitness reports with NASA and captured images of the eerie meteor. At the time, many were unsure of what they were actually seeing, but scientists at NASA and the American Meteorological Society have confirmed that this was a fragment of a comet hurtling at roughly 160,000kp

Some of the fastest meteors will streak across the sky on the night of Nov. 17, as the Leonid meteor shower reaches its peak.
According to NASA, the bright, colorful meteors travel at speeds of 44 miles per second. The annual event, which typically peaks in mid-November, is considered one of the major meteor showers of the year.
Active from Nov. 3 to Dec. 2, 2025, the Leonids are famous for their fireballs, larger, more brilliant bursts of light and color that lingers longer than typical meteors, and Earth-grazers, which skim the horizon with long, colorful tails.
