NEW YORK — Butch Huskey, who was the penultimate Mets player to wear the No. 42, has died at age 54, the club announced on Friday on social media.
"We are saddened to learn about the passing of former Met Butch Huskey," the Mets said in a statement.
A cause of death has not been announced.
Huskey, who wore No. 42 to pay tribute to Jackie Robinson, was drafted by the Mets in the seventh round of the 1989 MLB Draft out of Eisenhower High School in Lawton, Oklahoma. He made his debut in 1993 before seeing his first major action in 1996 when he slashed .278/.319/.435 with 15 home runs, 60 RBI and 43 runs.
Huskey, who played parts of five seasons with the Mets, logged his most productive campaign one season later in 1997 when he posted an .822 OPS with 24 home runs, 26 doubles, 81 RBI and 61 runs. He spent the majority of his playing career in right field, with spurts at first base and third base.

HAVANA, Aug 11 (Reuters) - Gasoline at $38 a gallon sold from cramped apartments. Diesel hawked on Instagram by a celebrity model to a reggaeton soundtrack. Six decades after Fidel Castro's revolution, all of a sudden, capitalist cracks are appearing in Cuba's communist energy sector.
Under Washington's crippling oil embargo against Cuba, an exception that allows U.S. firms to export fuel to private Cuban businesses has kickstarted a chaotic black market and pried the lid off an energy sector tightly controlled by the state ever since Dwight Eisenhower ‌was in the White House.
Oil shipments from Cuba's traditional suppliers Venezuela and Mexico ended abruptly after the U.S. ousted Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in January. U.S. Coast Guard cutters patrol the waters off Cuba, while sanctions and threats have dissuaded tankers from even setting sail.
The embargo has hobbled essential ‌state-run services like the healthcare system, public transport and schools. But under the Commerce Department exception, a trickle of gasoline and diesel is reaching private restaurants, retailers and taxis, the first significant landings of U.S. fuel on the Caribbean island since Castro nationalized refineries after the 1959 revolution.

MILWAUKEE — Before 2022, the Kiel girls soccer team had never made the WIAA state tournament.
On June 19, it was the undefeated Raiders' fifth-straight trip and it continued for another day with a 3-2 victory in double overtime over New Berlin Eisenhower.
Taavi Saeger got Kiel on the board first in the seventh minute when she took a pass from teammate Jasmine Bink, splitting the defense and tapping it in with the Lions' goalkeeper having fallen down.
New Berlin Eisenhower leveled the match in the 13th minute as Evangeline Schaffart took the ball inside the box off a feed by Piper Bissell before slotting it home.
Saeger scored again in the 45th minute for the Raiders, ***** isted by Harper Walsdorf.

Fact Checker by Glenn Kessler: For a decade, President Trump has said he wants to emulate “record-holder” Dwight D. Eisenhower, but the 1954 claims were phony.

As for the 1 million people being deported because of Eisenhower? That didn’t happen.
