"Yeah, that's kinda fun, isn't it?" Offensive Coordinator Dana Holgorsen after the Huskers added a couple of defensive linemen for an explosive 4th & 1 on Saturday.
As the Huskers lined up for a 4th & 1 on the Ohio 37 in the middle of the 3rd quarter, the guy next to me checking out things through his binoculars said, "Hey, Jahsear and Anthony Jones are in there."
Oh, really?
I stopped taking notes, squinted a little and, I'm pretty sure, got an evil grin on my face as I checked out the pair staggered in a lead-blocker formation behind the right-overloaded offensive line with Anthony Colandrea under center and running back Jamal Rule right behind him.
I was fairly certain Jones and Whittington hadn't been sent out there to set up a Colandrea naked bootleg. I wasn't wrong.

Nebraska football printable 2026 schedule with dates, times and TV lineup originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Cornhuskers could improve as a team and have a similar or worse record because of a rugged schedule.
Nebraska went 7-6 last season, and the Cornhuskers follow that with a slate that includes a three-game stretch at home against defending national champion Indiana, at Oregon and at home against Washington. Nebraska closes the regular season with a home game against Ohio State and a road game against nemesis Iowa.
The Cornhuskers have some talent. Transfer quarterback Anthony Colandrea was the Mountain West's offensive player of the year last season. He'll have a chance to shine under offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen. Nebraska will need to replace Emmett Johnson, last year's Big Ten rushing leader.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have named the starting quarterback for the season opener. Anthony Colandrea will start for the Huskers on September 5 against the Ohio Bobcats.
Colandrea joins Nebraska following a breakout junior year with the UNLV Rebels. The St. Petersburg, Florida, native finished the 2025 season throwing for 3,459 yards, 23 touchdowns, and nine interceptions with a 65.9 completion percentage. He also added 649 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns.
The former Rebel's play earned him the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year award. Before UNLV, Colandrea played two seasons at Virginia. He joined a Nebraska team that was looking for a new opening-day starter after Dylan Raiola transferred to the Oregon Ducks.
The Husker quarterback room also includes sophomore and bowl game starter T.J. Lateef and former Virginia quarterback Daniel Kaelin.
Nebraska opens the 2026 season on Saturday, Sept. 5, when the Ohio Bobcats visit Memorial Stadium. Kickoff time is set for 11 a.m. CT and can be seen on FS1.

Another Husker earned a spot on an award watchlist on Tuesday, the team's fourth player. Defensive back Donovan Jones earned the honor, being named to the 2026 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List.
The award honors FBS players who lead through community service while excelling in the classroom and on the field. Jones enters his redshirt sophomore year after playing in all 13 games last season, starting in 11. He recorded six or more tackles in five games last season. The Omaha native totaled 59 tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss, and tied for the team lead with five pass breakups.
Jones' 59 tackles made him the fifth Husker freshman to record at least 50 tackles since the NCAA restored freshman eligibility in 1972. He also helped Nebraska rank third nationally in pass defense in 2025.
Jones is also highly active in the Nebraska community, volunteering at food banks, kitchens, public schools and various centers. For his contributions to the community, he received the Sam Foltz 27 Hero Leadership Award earlier this year. Jones is the fourth Husker to be named to a watchlist, joining Jacory Barney (Paul Hornung Award), Justin Evans (Rimington Trophy) and Anthony Colandrea (Maxwell Award).
In September, 11 student-athletes from the Watch List will be named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team and become semifinalists for the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy. The winner will be announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards show in December and also serve as captain of the 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.

I recently posted a series of videos on my YouTube channel (please jump there and subscribe) about the biggest X-factor players for Clemson's 2026 football season. Kobe McCloud and Amare Adams were the two biggest for the defense. On offense the biggest X-factor was quite obvious — Christopher Vizzina.
Vizzina was a blue-chip recruit out of Alabama who came to Clemson and waited behind Cade Klubnik. Entering his fourth year in the program, he has only attempted 105 collegiate passes. In an era where starting QBs hit the field quickly (e.g., Julian Sayin [OSU], Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele [Cal]) or gain playing time at a smaller program and transfer in with experience (e.g., Byrum Brown [AU], Anthony Colandrea (UN], Colton Joseph [UW]) it almost feels weird to turn the reigns over to the QB understudy. Reminder – This is actually normal. What everyone else is doing is what's new and different. Here's what Coach Swinney said about it:
"There's a reason why we had confidence in the decision we made. That's because we're there every day. CV has earned the opportunity to go be the starting quarterback at Clemson based on everything we've observed."
Unfortunately, they've observed it, but we have not. After a relatively positive performance in a spot start vs. SMU, Vizzina only attempted 15 more passes the rest of the year. They all came against Furman. That was it! We didn't even get an appearance in a cold and dreary Pinstripe Bowl to spark some confidence in him taking the reins for 2026.
What little we've seen from Vizzina outside of that SMU start has not been pretty. He's mostly struggled in Clemson Spring Games. He also struggled in his brief appearance against Boston College, throwing an interception shortly after Klubnik went down with injury. His late season opportunity against Furman yielded just 3.5 yards per pass attempt. His start vs. SMU likely gives us our best data though, so that's what I dive into in the film session below.
