As UWF football head coach Kaleb ***** les slid into the Argos postgame press conference, he decided to turn the table on the media members.
"So what do y'all want to talk about?" ***** les sarcastically quipped.
He already knew the answer.
Ten years after ***** les was the starting quarterback in the Argos inaugural football season, he led the program to another historic first. UWF started its NCAA Division I era with a 34-31 win over No. 16 Southern Illinois in front of a PenAir Field record crowd of 6,124.
"I think outside a lot of people we're counting us out," ***** les said. "I can tell you in our locker room we don't think like that. Our job is to play great football and do things right off the field and our guys did that tonight.

UWF football made history in more ways than one Thursday night.
In their first game at the NCAA Division I FCS level, the Argos upset No. 16 Southern Illinois 34-31 in front of a PenAir Field record crowd of 6,124.
UWF (1-0 overall) was balanced on offense and forced four turnovers on defense.
Redshirt sophomore Ty'jay Davis completed seven of 17 passes for 109 yards, two touchdowns, and ran for 88 yards in first collegiate start. The Argos ran for 226 yards, getting 71 yards from TJ Lane and 33 yards and a touchdown on five carries from Markel Townsend.
SIU (0-1) preseason All-American quarterback DJ Williams left the game with an injury in the second quarter and didn't return. He completed three of eight passes for 19 yards and ran eight times for 46 yards.

Tonight marks a first for University of West Florida football. The Argos are scheduled to play their first NCAA Division I game when they open the season against No. 16 Southern Illinois. The matchup comes just months after UWF announced in April that it would move to Division I, joining the United Athletic Conference for football and the Atlantic Sun for other sports.
The opener also starts a new chapter for coach Kaleb ***** les, who played quarterback in UWF's first game in 2016 and now leads the program as head coach. UWF built a quick Division II resume that included a national championship in 2019 and six playoff appearances. Now the question is how that success translates at the FCS level, beginning with a season opener that should give the Argos an early test against a ranked opponent.
Tonight's game is UWF's first football contest as a Division I program, making it a milestone moment for the university and for a program that is not yet 10 years old.
The Argos went 81-30 in Division II, but Division I comes with greater scholarship requirements and more financial investment to maintain a strong program.
UWF's teams can compete for conference championships right away, but they are not eligible for NCAA championships until the 2029-30 academic year.

ROYAL CENTER — The Pioneer volleyball team might have made history Tuesday in playing its first ever varsity match at the Pioneer Elementary School gym Tuesday.
It wasn't under ideal conditions as the junior/senior high school is currently out of commission and is being cleaned up following historic flooding two weeks ago.
But life rolls on in Panther Land and the Panthers easily dispatched of an overmatched Argos team 3-0.
For Pioneer senior setter Lois Layer, it had been since sixth grade basketball since she played a contest in the elementary gym.
"It's been a long time, like a really long time," she said. "It's just a little bit hot. It's hot in here."

Retailers including Amazon, Argos and Currys have been found to advertise e‑scooters for use on public roads and paths, despite this being against UK law.
An investigation from the Press ******* ociation (PA) found major brands and independent sellers were promoting their use on the roads.
But only rented e-scooters can legally be ridden on roads, cycle paths and in parks in the UK. Privately-owned e-scooters can only be used on private land with the landowner's permission.
The major outlets changed their advertising after being contacted by PA. They also pointed to guidance on their websites which said customers had to follow local laws.
But smaller retailers still appear to be promoting e-scooters for commuting or riding in towns and cities.

Argosy Investors, an investment management company, released its Q1 2026 investor letter. A copy is available to download here. The letter discussed the current transformative investment landscape driven by the AI capex boom. The author expressed skepticism about the durability of the earnings flowing to its market participants and suppliers. The main challenge during capex booms is balancing supply and demand, especially the accelerated shift of AI technologies. While companies benefit from rising volumes and prices, the potential for earnings to be overstated becomes a concern if supply catches up quicker than anticipated. In this backdrop, the firm remains cautious in taking investment decisions. In addition, please check the Fund’s top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.
In its first-quarter 2026 investor letter, Argosy Investors highlighted Pool Corporation (NASDAQ:POOL) as a newly added position. Pool Corporation (NASDAQ:POOL) is a leading distributor of swimming pool supplies, equipment, related leisure, irrigation, and landscape maintenance products. On June 4, 2026, Pool Corporation (NASDAQ:POOL) closed at $183.22 per share. One-month return of Pool Corporation (NASDAQ:POOL) was -6.78%, and its shares lost 37.22% over the past 52 weeks. Pool Corporation (NASDAQ:POOL) has a market capitalization of $6.78 billion.
Argosy Investors stated the following regarding Pool Corporation (NASDAQ:POOL) in its Q1 2026 investor letter:
"Pool Corporation (NASDAQ:POOL) is the dominant wholesale distributor of swimming pool and related outdoor living products, with 35-40% market share and 456 branches nationwide; the next closest competitor has 8-10% share, but was recently acquired by Home Depot (HD) as part of the SRS Distribution transaction. The company has been in a long-term slump post-COVID due to the unwind of shortage-driven chlorine pricing and the surge in pool building during the pandemic. 60% of the company's sales are non-discretionary service-based purchases, and the company has historically generated ROICs in the 25 30% range, very strong relative to almost any physical product-based business. The company now sells for 15.5x forward earnings, which seems entirely too low for a high quality market leader with strong ROICs and normally mid-single digit organic growth and future consolidation optionality. The company is at all-time low valuations and based on the trend could be headed lower short-term. This suggests the external environment has changed in ways disadvantageous to POOL. The main risks here are 1) macro softness around continued pool construction headwinds, somewhat similar to FND's issues, and 2) the alleged aggressiveness of Heritage Pool Supply in being a formidable competitor to POOL with the support of Home Depot's capital. With Brad Jacob's launch of QXO (QXO), focused on building products distributors, as his latest iteration of an industry roll-up, after massive success in waste management (United Waste Syst
