FIFA has cleared referee Shaun Evans of wrongdoing after he was accused of making a racist gesture prior to Sunday's game between Germany and Curaçao.
Evans was shown in the video referee studio with his hand by his side in the "OK" symbol, which has been ******* ociated with white supremacy.
In a statement, the Australian referee said that the gesture was an "involuntary, subconscious twitch."
"I would like to clarify that I did not intentionally make a hand gesture or symbol to communicate a message, affiliation, game or belief of any kind," Evans said.
"The only explanation I can offer is that the movement was an involuntary, subconscious twitch and I was unaware I had done it at the time. Images taken later during the match showed that I repeated this movement many times while holding a pen between my fingers. The coverage following this incident simply does not reflect who I am.

Video **** istant referee Shaun Evans has denied "intentionally" making a hand gesture "to communicate a message, affiliation, game or belief of any kind" after he was cleared by a Fifa investigation.
Evans says the gesture was "an involuntary, subconscious twitch" that he was "unaware" of.
The Australian could be seen making the fingers of his right hand into a upside down 'OK' sign when Fifa cut to a shot of the VAR team at the referee hub in Dallas before Germany's 7-1 win over Curacao on Sunday.
Such a gesture has two very distinct meanings - one harmless and the other connected to an expression of white supremacy.
World governing body Fifa said after looking into the matter that it found "no evidence of breaches of the Fifa Disciplinary Code".

“Just wanting to be out there, wanting to grow every day, be better,” Bridges said. “The more I think about it, never, ever leave a window for somebody to take your spot. You never know how you might go out for a week or two and the next guy steps up and maybe the team plays better. Subconsciously, I think that’s always in the back of my head.”
Bridges has appeared in 638 consecutive regular-season NBA games. He also played in 116 straight matchups for Villanova in college, and has not missed a game since his sophomore year in high school.

A curious and paradoxical intolerance for lactose across the South Asian subcontinent could help explain why the ability for adults to consume fresh milk from other animals developed in other populations.
Researchers from the University of California, Berkeley, led a team of scientists in a genome-wide study of people across the Asian subcontinent to better understand how and why the ability to digest the sugar common in dairy products spread.
