Jeremiah Fears was present during the New York Knicks players’ media availability on Sunday. The New Orleans Pelicans rookie asked Mikal Bridges ahead of Game 3 of the NBA Finals how he has pushed his Iron Man streak to six seasons.
The veteran forward was detailed with his response. He highlighted the importance of remaining hungry and not allowing anyone to take over his roster spot and playing time.

“Just wanting to be out there, wanting to grow every day, be better,” Bridges said. “The more I think about it, never, ever leave a window for somebody to take your spot. You never know how you might go out for a week or two and the next guy steps up and maybe the team plays better. Subconsciously, I think that’s always in the back of my head.”
Bridges has appeared in 638 consecutive regular-season NBA games. He also played in 116 straight matchups for Villanova in college, and has not missed a game since his sophomore year in high school.
