After taking down Russia's Roman Safiullin 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, Alcaraz faces Jaime Faria in the second round at Arthur Ashe Stadium on September 2.
"It's been a really tough five months for me, so to be able to step into Arthur Ashe and be able to compete again… As I said before the tournament, I couldn't have decided to come back at a better tournament, here at the U.S. Open, here in New York," Alcaraz said after defeating Safiullin in straight sets.
"It's a really special place for me, a special tournament for me. I tried to enjoy as much as I can. I missed the crowd, the energy, I missed the competition, I missed everything. So, I'm just really happy I was able to compete again."

Actress Golda Rosheuvel opened up about a less-than-pleasant fan encounter she faced while on vacation following the global success of "Bridgerton," calling the experience "really weird and scary."
During her Tuesday appearance on Jesse Tyler Ferguson's "Dinner's on Me" podcast, Rosheuvel, reflected on the anxiety and loss of anonymity that came with her "Bridgerton" fame.

Tucker Carlson admitted to feeling regret for going after Hunter Biden on his shows for years.
In a two-hour conversation with Joe Biden's son on "The Tucker Carlson Show," the host reflected on the finger-pointing he did on his show on more than one occasion. In particular, Carlson felt badly for repeatedly calling out Biden while the former first son was struggling with addiction, saying "finger-pointing is unhelpful, except when we point fingers at ourselves."
"It's very important to say — that's kind of what I was inarticulately trying to express to you, which is like, it gets the rest of us off the hook to point to one guy and be like, 'It's all his fault. It's like actually, it's all of our fault, including mine,'" Carlson said. "And I, you know, famously advocated for the Iraq War, and thought that was the last stupid thing I was ever going to do. Turns out it wasn't. I advocated for all kinds of things that I now regret advocating for."
Biden jumped in to quip: "Particularly the things that you said about me."
"Deep regret," Carlson responded. "No, I do actually. According to the filing, two women, Shayla and Davis, were at odds over the same ex-boyfriend; Shayla was 16 years old and Davis, 17 years old. According to the report, Shayla stated that Davis attacked her and then threatened to shoot her with a gun.
In the filing, Shayla noted that she had been acquainted with Davis only through a mutual friend; however, their relationship was not friendly. Also, Shayla alleged that after she notified the police about her case, the harassment continued.
She demanded a restraining order, which would prohibit Davis from contacting her or her family members. The court granted a temporary restraining order but later dismissed the case.

Jeremy Clarkson has opened up about his latest medical saga, sharing good news about the cancer battle he mentioned on his Prime Video docuseries Clarkson's Farm.
In a new interview with The Sunday Times (via BBC News), Clarkson said his "aggressive" case of prostate cancer, with which he was diagnosed in May 2025, is now in remission.
"I am without a doubt, officially, the world's luckiest man," he told the Times. "It was an aggressive type of cancer. It could have spread, it could have gone into the pancreas, it could have gone anywhere, and that would have been trouble."
He also revealed his diagnosis came after a routine medical check. "This is why I have to say to everybody who's reading this, please, please, please go and get checked," he said. "It's not uncomfortable, it's not undignified. And it's a no-brainer. I did, and that's why I'm sitting here talking to you 11 months down the line."
