The New York Yankees could be facing a difficult decision involving former NL MVP Giancarlo Stanton, and his latest injury may have accelerated that conversation and even his future in MLB.
According to the latest article from The Athletic's Chris Kirschner, the Yankees could move on from Stanton after the 2026 season as they evaluate the designated hitter position and look toward 2027.

Stanton's latest setback has made the situation even more complicated. After spending much of the season recovering from a right calf strain, the 36-year-old suffered a moderate left calf strain while running the bases, leaving his chances of returning this season uncertain.
