Barring a blow from the MLB Draft, Arkansas baseball has its shortstop for the 2026 season.
Santa Clara transfer Ben Cleary committed to the Razorbacks on Wednesday, June 17. He is the third infielder to join the Hogs this offseason, following in the footsteps of Wills Maginnis (Georgia State) and Dawson Bryce (Charlotte).
All three of those players are eligible for the draft next month.
Maginnis and Bryce have primarily served as corner infielders across their collegiate careers. Cleary just wrapped up a sensational junior season at Santa Clara as the everyday shortstop.
He slashed .358/.452/.500 with five homers, 39 runs and 30 RBIs in 2026. He drew 24 walks and only had 24 strikeouts. The even walk-to-strikeout ratio is always attractive to Dave Van Horn and his staff when they evaluate players out of the portal. Across his three collegiate seasons, Cleary has 70 walks and 65 strikeouts.
