Michigan State football has added a commitment from a preferred walk-on prospect from a nearby town.
The Spartans have added another tight end to their 2026 roster -- Ethan Melville of Holt, Mich. The local standout prospect has flipped his commitment from Calvin College and will now join Michigan State for the upcoming season.
Melville played quarterback for the Rams the past two seasons and also saw action on the defensive side of the ball. He is listed at 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, and will now transition to playing tight end at the college level.
As a preferred walk-on, there is only positives that could come out of this addition. Melville could surprise some folks and play his way into a role at some point at Michigan State. And if he doesn't, it never hurts to have a local prospect join the program to help on the scout team or as a depth player. This addition is a win-win for the Spartans.
