(NewsNation) — Astronomers may have discovered the first moon outside of our solar system, and it may force them to reconsider the idea of what a "moon" is.
A new study published in Nature describes the discovery of a possible exomoon, but things get a little weird. Researchers noted the object could be an exomoon or it could be something else entirely that doesn't fall neatly into the category of moon or planet.
While Earth's singular moon is the most familiar, there are 891 moons orbiting planets and dwarf planets in our solar system, with more than 200 of those belonging to Saturn alone.

Given the numbers, it makes sense to ***** ume planets in other solar systems travel with a similar entourage.

David Axelrod warned on Friday of possible election interference in the midterms after President Trump fired the remaining Democratic members of the Election **** istance Commission on Thursday.
"All the signals are flashing red, the latest being POTUS's summary dismissal of the remaining Federal Election **** istance Commission members," the Democratic strategist wrote in a social media post.
The commission is a bipartisan and independent board established in 2002 to help voters participate in the election process and **** ists election officials. Republican member Christy McCormick also resigned on Thursday.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) criticized the firings as a "brazen attempt to seize control of our elections" in a statement.
"Senate Democrats will fight this power grab at every turn," he wrote. "The American people — not Donald Trump — will decide the 2026 election."

Socialist Colorado congressional candidate Melat Kiros blamed Israel's activity in the Middle East for inspiring attacks on Jewish people in other countries during an interview on Wednesday.
Kiros is part of a wave of anti-Israel, far-left candidates gaining popularity in the Democratic Party. She won her primary in her Denver-area district this week, ousting longtime incumbent Diana Degette after far-left candidates won their primaries in New York last month.

Masoud Pezeshkian 's mention of the funds appear aimed at selling the Iranian public on the interim deal, particularly as its grip on the Strait of Hormuz has been tested by efforts to open Oman's territorial waters to both inbound and outbound traffic from the Persian Gulf. Iran's attacks and threats stopped cargo ships and tankers from moving through the strait, in which about a fifth of all traded oil and natural gas passed in peacetime, creating a global energy crisis.
The strait has long been considered an international waterway despite its location in Iran and Oman's territorial waters. In recent days, Iran has twice attacked vessels going through a route near the Omani side, drawing retaliatory American airstrikes and concerns that negotiations to reach a formal end to the war could be disrupted. ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Jim Mustian reported and co-wrote an **** ociated Press story that revealed the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration permitted hundreds of thousands of fentanyl pills to be distributed in New Mexico as part of an effort to build bigger federal prosecutions.
Mustian, along with AP journalist Joshua Goodman, reviewed hundreds of internal DEA records and interviewed current and former agents, including a whistleblower who claims his agency gambled with public safety and violated U.S. Justice Department rules about seizing the dangerous synthetic opioid. The White House last year designated fentanyl as a " weapon of mass destruction."
