Tyler Reddick's quest for the NASCAR Cup Series regular-season championship just took another gut punch — and this time, he took a fellow Toyota driver down with him.
Reddick lost control of his No. 45 23XI Racing Toyota early in Stage 1 of Sunday's Iowa Corn 350 at Iowa Speedway, sliding into Erik Jones and his No. 43 Legacy Motor Club Toyota. The contact ended the days of both drivers far earlier than either could have imagined.
Reddick started fifth after qualifying 133.911 mph on Saturday, while Jones rolled off 10th.
Instead of banking valuable stage points and positioning themselves for strong finishes, both Toyotas were forced out of contention before the race had a chance to develop.
For Reddick, the timing could hardly be worse.

HAMPTON, Ga. — Team Penske Fords claimed the front row spots for Sunday night's NASCAR Cup Series race at EchoPark Speedway.
Ryan Blaney won the pole with a lap time of 30.815 seconds at 179.912 mph on Saturday.
Blaney's teammate, Joey Logano, was second with a lap time of 30.851 seconds at 179.702 mph.
"Feels good to have a Penske front row," Blaney said, adding he also can work well with other Ford drivers. "Hopefully we'll be able to get organized at some point but it's nice that Joey and I are starting at the front."
Blaney is third in the Cup Series points race. Points leader Denny Hamlin and second-place Tyler Reddick qualified 28th and 31st, respectively, in their 23XI Racing Toyotas.

JOLIET, IL — With all the attention on Denny Hamlin and Tyler Reddick and the way they’ve racked up NASCAR Cup Series wins for Toyota, it’s been easy to overlook Chase Briscoe.
Not so much anymore.
Following up on a runner-up finish on the Sonoma Raceway road course in California, Briscoe capped a popular weekend at Chicagoland Speedway with his first victory of the season July 5.
“We have not been as consistent, I would say, as [Hamlin and Reddick],” said Briscoe, who won three races and finished third in the 2025 championship. “But from a speed standpoint, I feel like we’ve been right here with them.”
Briscoe, 31, held off Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Christopher Bell, who also was chasing his first win of the season, by .276 seconds. Hamlin took third, giving team owner Joe Gibbs the top three spots in the finishing order on a night Toyotas claimed seven of the top 10.

A week after crashing out at Naval Base Coronado, Shane van Gisbergen reclaimed his crown as NASCAR’s current king of road courses.
The 37-year-old from New Zealand held off a pair of Toyotas from Joe Gibbs Racing – Chase Briscoe and Ty Gibbs – to win at Sonoma Raceway for the second consecutive year, taking the checkered flag on Sunday in the Toyota/Save Mart 350.
The victory was the eighth of van Gisbergen’s Cup Series career, tying him for second all-time in road course wins with Tony Stewart. Van Gisbergen trails record-holder Jeff Gordon by just one road course victory now, but he’ll have to wait until next season to match the NASCAR Hall of Famer as Sonoma was the final road course race of the season.
Van Gisbergen swept the weekend at Sonoma, also winning the second-tier O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race on Saturday. He is now tied with AJ Allmendinger for the most combined road course wins across NASCAR’s top three national touring series at 14.
This is the second consecutive year that van Gisbergen has won at Sonoma, making him one of nine drivers in the history of NASCAR's Cup Series to win multiple races at the road course circuit in the rolling hills of California's wine country.
