Actress Julie Hesmondhalgh is to become the first winner of The Theatres Trust's lifetime achievement award.
The former Coronation Street star from Accrington, Lancashire, is being recognised for her exceptional performances on stage and screen, as well as her work in championing regional theatres.
Hesmondhalgh, who played Hayley Cropper for more than 15 years, said she was "very honoured" with the accolade which will be presented to her at the inaugural Great British Theatres Awards in London on 2 November.

Former Teen Mom 2 star Adam Lind was spotted for the first time in nearly a year.
Lind, 37, appeared in a photo shared on Instagram by a mystery woman named Hayley on Friday, August 21. The two posed for a selfie at the Days of '76 Rodeo in Deadwood, South Dakota.

A disabled man violently attacked a ******* worker before dumping her body in a canal with the help of his daughter, a murder trial has heard.
Chereiss Bailey was found dead near a waterway off Ryders Green Road in West Bromwich on 29 September last year.
John Anslow, 65, and his daughter Hayley-Marie Ferguson, 42, both from West Bromwich, are accused of placing Bailey's corpse in a wheelchair and adding paving slabs before pushing it into the water.
Anslow has admitted preventing a lawful and decent burial but denies murdering Bailey. Ferguson, who is not accused of murder, has pleaded not guilty to preventing a lawful and decent burial and another charge of ******* isting an offender.
On the opening day of the trial, Birmingham Crown Court heard Bailey, who was 36, was last seen on the afternoon of 27 September, two days before her body was found.

Derek Hough's wife, Hayley Erbert, is feeling love from fans after announcing a devastating family loss.
In a Tuesday, July 28, Instagram post, the former Dancing With the Stars troupe member revealed that her stepfather, Jim, had passed away several days prior. "It has been a week since Jim left us earth side, a week since his beautiful soul was set free," Erbert wrote. "He was the best bonus dad there was, even though 'bonus' will never be a big enough word. He showed me that being a dad isn't about biology. It's about showing up. It's about consistency, patience, protection, and love."
Erbert said she was "so lucky" to have her stepfather in her life, describing him as "one of those rare people who made the world feel gentler just by being in it." She added, "Selfless in every sense, his kindness showed in everything he did, his calm made everyone feel safe, and his quiet humor was there for anyone paying close enough attention. To know him was to love him."
Referring to her and Hough's 7-month-old daughter, Erbert continued, "Everley didn't have nearly as much time with him as any of us wish she could've, but she now has the best guardian angel." She concluded the tribute by writing, "I will love you forever, Jim. And I will miss you even more."

In a post on Instagram, Erbert revealed that her stepfather died a week ago. Many Dancing with the Stars fans know that he had been ill for quite some time.

Captain Hayley Matthews and veteran Stafanie Taylor struck magnificent centuries as West Indies Women defeated Ireland Women by six wickets in the second ODI at Bready on Sunday to seal the three-match series 2-0 with a game to spare.

After opting to bowl first, West Indies produced a disciplined effort to restrict Ireland to 241/7 before Matthews (100 off 94) and Taylor (104* off 104) stitched together a match-winning 158-run partnership to guide the visitors to 245/4 in 39 overs, completing the chase with 11 overs remaining.
Ireland lost both openers early after Deandra Dottin struck twice in her opening spell, dismissing Sarah Forbes and Gaby Lewis to leave the hosts under pressure.

However, Amy Hunter (67) and Rebecca Stokell (57) steadied the innings with a crucial 106-run stand for the fourth wicket after Orla Prendergast had fallen to Matthews. The partnership ended when Matthews removed Hunter before Afy Fletcher dismissed Stokell just nine deliveries later. Leah Paul then provided late impetus with a brisk 32 off 30 ******* , helping Ireland post a competitive 241/7.

Matthews impressed with the ball as well, returning figures of 2/34, while Dottin's fiery opening spell earned her 2/15.
West Indies suffered an early setback when Realeanna Grimmond was dismissed in the opening over, but Matthews immediately took charge of the chase. TORONTO — Hayley Wickenheiser and the Toronto Maple Leafs are parting ways after the hockey Hall of Famer spent eight seasons working in the NHL team's front office.
Wickenheiser said in an Instagram post the move came after "several discussions" with new Maple Leafs general manager John Chayka.
"During those conversations, my expectation was that I would be in a position to continue to have a significant impact within the organization," Wickenheiser said. "However, it became clear that his leadership group envisioned a different path."
Wickenheiser joined the Maple Leafs as ******* istant director of player development in August 2018, shortly after the end of her stellar playing career. She was named an ******* istant general manager in July 2022.

BRISTOL, England (AP) — The West Indies set up a showdown of unbeaten sides with England at the Women's Twenty20 World Cup after laboring past Sri Lanka by five wickets on Sunday.
Sri Lanka was bowled out for 98 and the West Indies overhauled it in the 17th over on a spilled catch at midwicket.
West Indies captain Hayley Matthews won the toss, chose to bowl first on a spinners' pitch, and removed the openers and Harshitha Samarawickrama in her first two overs. Matthews took 3-15 as six bowlers took wickets.
At the end of the powerplay, Sri Lanka was 23-4.
Nilakshika Silva led Sri Lanka with 30, but when she was gone they went six overs without a boundary and suffered two run outs and a stumping.
